I was debating between these two for a few months. We have Vitamix at the office and they are great blenders. I am equally impressed (if not more) the the Blendtecs I have used. I took a chance on the Oster Versa from Kohls a few months ago for about $180 after discounts and coupons. For my needs, it outperforms the Vitamix. I love the Smoothie button and the ability to adjust the speed.
My vote is for the Blendtec, but the Oster Versa should get more respect than it does.

I just called two Costcos near me and both have the Vitamix 5200S blender for $375. However, Costco.com has the Vitamix 5200 Super Package for $500 ( http://www.costco.com/Vitamix-520...09068.htm

|village idiot||Do they require a costco membership to buy these at costco? They're independent reps, right?|

Bought this blender last Saturday even when dear wife was not very pleased with the amount of money being spent. Convinced her, brought the blender home, opened the box and put it on the kitchen slab with great pride.
Opened the book, flip to page 109, Put some all purpose flour, poured some water, turned it on, startled the baby and SMOKED THE MOTOR.
End of the story, taking it back on the next trip.
Moral: Wife is so pleased with 'I told you so' expression on her face. I am again on prowl for a Blender better than equals!

If you want a powerful blender you'll most likely be happy with whatever you buy, but if you want to consider all the details I recently posted a run-down of the key differences between Vitamix and Blendtec machines:

|moku160||Have a blendtec and a vitamix. Gotta say I like the wildside blendtec more. That wildside container is awesome. No, well rarely, is mixing required.|
