Fyi, I just received this from Cowboom.com. I picked it up for $55 as a refurb. It was categorized as a grade 6. I was leary of cowboom and grade 6 but this thing is gorgeous and without a mark.
The player itself is great though I find the whole app part laggy.

|madhuk10||This is still available. PM'd it @ Bestbuy. BB's also giving $5 GC for each of your old small devices. Scored 1 for $55 !|

I just backordered one of these. You might wish to change the title where it says they will be available 12/28, because if they were, they aren't now.
They are still taking orders for the $80 price with free shipping.

|Ynot303||Canceling my order tomorrow. I got mine for 69.99 at Sears. The price was a mistake but they decided to honor the price.|

|silvery79||I was able to PM with Best Buy, I had been wanting just a regular blu-ray player with wifi (for firmware upgrades) but for this price I spent the extra $20/30, hooked it up yesterday, liking it so far, no issues connecting to my network. Thanks to OP for posting about it.|

|tintinbbs||Anybody knows how long does it take for a Fry's back order to ship? Placed the order a couple days ago.|

|fnyankee25||Unable to get a price match at Best Buy. Manager said he had never heard of Fry's and that they would match a "more reputable" company that offered the player at that price.|

I agree with you on the refurb bit. When you see a market flooded with refurbs you have to think you'll have an issue it you buy it new. I reviewed the thread again and went the cowboom route as well with a promo code. With tax I got it for $55. Scratches or not, for that price I think I'll be really happy.
Once again, I'm excited! The XBox as a DLNA player ain't so hot and neither is Windows Media Center!

As far as refurbs, all of the products I've gotten that way have lasted just as long as a new one. I prefer them sometimes because they have already been tested for issues and fixed. Someone else who bought it new had to go thru the return and replacement thing, you won't have to for that problem at least, whatever it was. But sometimes aren't they just returns that never had a problem, people just didn't want them for some reason, like it being a gift they didn't need?
If you have a Discover card, you can also use that to buy, maybe even get some cashback by shopping thru their portal. They extend the warranty and do price protection for free. I didn't know that til I bought this player recently. And I LOVE this model, can even watch things at a faster speed, Panasonic is the only brand that you can do that with. :-)

I ordered from Frys...
I ordered and felt great. Then I started reading reviews of FRYS and got scared. Would I get a refurb? If I had trouble with player would dealing with FRYS be too difficult (clicking on the "warranty" menu asks you to write via snail mail). Needless to say I cancelled. I found a refurb of the same model at Best Buy for the same price. I was excited--then I read the reviews of the Geek Squad. Perhaps I'll wait to see if Amazon sells it for $80 again. Any thoughts?
