|xplicitone||$10.65 for both base and GaC expansion (no GOTY content). I'm pretty excited to try it out! I wonder if the history lessons are real.|

I actually enjoy Civ V more than Civ III and IV, and have been waiting for a great deal on this expansion.
Edit: No problems checking out with PayPal. Ordered and started downloading from steam in about 2 minutes.

I think GMG must have flagged my ISPs IP range. My smartphone is in a different IP range.

|darksim001||Had a bunch of problems trying to get through checkout also. I found the problem once i went into my account settings. For some reason the registered address did not have my State selected. So those with problems make sure that address is 100% correct|

Re: GOTY advice
To clarify my earlier statement that seemed to discourage GOTY purchases: you are more than welcome to get the other civ/map/scenario DLCs that come with GOTY (I enjoy them and am happy to have paid for them), but frugal shoppers may want to pocket the $5 or so and wait to see how much they like Civ V first. I've probably played through the game 100 times or so. If I only had 1 civilization to use, I probably would have stopped after 5 or 10 playthroughs. I think the base game has like 12 civs or something, and G&K adds maybe 6 more, so that's a lot of variety already. GOTY probably adds another 4-6 civs. You can easily play through the game one time with each Civ, trying out different strategies for achieving global conquest. So if you're only gonna play through the game 5-10 times, just use the civs that are there. If you want to play this timesuck of a game for 1,000 hours like me, then get GOTY

If you've never played Civ before and aren't sure how much you want to invest in the game, there's still plenty to enjoy in the vanilla version, and you can expect G&K to be on sale again next year at some point.

|xplicitone||I bit for $3.15. $7.50 for Civ 5 on Steam but I can't buy it via iOS app which makes no sense! Hopefully I'll be home in time to get it|

OK, so I'm going to go ahead and buy this expansion and the base game (without GOTY content).
Should I bother playing the base game alone or should I just play GaK? Seems like the additions of GaK (like religion and espionage) make the game better and there may be no reason spending time playing without them.
Opinions are welcome...
