If you have data that you do not want to lose, you need two backups. This is a rookie mistake, everyone saves all their data on one of these and then it gets lost or breaks and they have no copy and lose everything.
Buy two of these drives if you need that much space and mirror them. Keep one at home or locked at the office. Mirror them weekly to keep them up to date. Keep them separate. If your home burns down, you have a copy at your work. No loss.
You don't have to believe me or think having two is worth the $$. When you lose all your data, trust me you will start.

There is a big difference between mbps (mega bit) and MBps (Mega Byte).
2.5" SATA HDD gets about 100-120MB/s
3.5" SATA HDD gets about 180-200MB/s
SSD gets 400-500MB/s

i think costco taxes the original price so $125+($140*7% for me)= $134.79 for a 2tb portable drive.
not really a deal imo. especially when 1.5tb portable drives can be had for $90 shipped from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Can...iba+canvi

Basically, if you need portability, a 2.5" bus powered HDD is never a bad idea. USB 3.0 is plenty fast too.

|recklessk||I got one of these yesterday and I must say it worked right about of the box. Was moving some large files around and it was pushing 70-80mbps. So I am very pleased with it. I know it is not the cheapest price, but is a very attractive price point.|

If you just need external storage and won't be moving the HDD around, just get a brick powered drive, you can definitely find better deals on them.

Picked one up the other day. I didn't think it was a hot deal as there have been other $99 3tb HDDs, but I missed out on the $109 2tb.
As for the drive, it's smaller than expected (~1/4 size of a desktop external) and the carrying case is of good quality. The speed isn't that impressive, but the WD firewire 2tb is ~$200.
Good find, vegasboyforu.
