AVR1700 or Sony STR 2100
I have the Sony in my family room. Just contemplating if I should move bedroom AVR1700 to family room.
I know I am going to loose 7.1 but right now I have only 5.1 setup in family room.
What do u guys think?

I have this receiver on order from Amazon for $199.99. I am "upgrading" from an Onkyo TX-SR304 with which I use with 2 sets of tower speakers in a 2-channel A/B (both turned ON) configuration. The reasons I do this is that: a) I do not wish to wire rear-channel speakers, as my living room physical constraints do not allow me to do so without running wires through walkways; b) neither of my sets of tower speakers are very good tonality-wise, but are quite satisfactory when used together; and c) there is absolutely no place to put a center-channel speaker in my living room. This is because my Plasma fits perfectly on my fireplace mantle, with no additional room to put a speaker and with the receiver and other stuff sitting alongside it with the towers on either side of the fireplace.
So, my question is this: since this receiver has no A/B connections for the front (main) channels, how does it sound in 2-channel mode with 2 sets of speakers connected to it? From anyone who already owns it or may have some experience with it. In other words, do I cancel my order? I need to know because basically all I'm buying this for is the HDMI switching and ability to stream audio without running an additional device simultaneously.
