Well, I just redid everything on a different SD card and it works fine. As far as I can see I did everything the same.

I absolutely love the idea of booting from a mSD and leaving the NT's OS pristine. I followed the steps outlined above and it still boots to the NT OS. I shutdown and rebooted a few times and nothing changed. My nook has 1.4.3. I have seen other procedures written that mention holding down the U button (yes, I know it is supposed to be an "n") while you are turning it on. Does that alter the original OS?
I thought I'd read on Liliputing that 1.4.3 actually prevents booting an OS from the SD card. Not sure if that is true, but then how would the card from N2ACards work?
It is important to me (and my son) that the original os not be overwritten or screwed up in any way. As a noob to all this, I'd rather write this all off as a little wasted time than mess my machine up.
Any constructive help would be appreciated.

|Vrian_Sinth||I just had to put in my two cents regarding the instructions left by Puch0021. After getting tired of the B&N stock software and the lack of apps, and the slow speed of the Micro SD method, I decided to go ahead and install CM10 on my Nook. The instructions were easy to follow and I now have a peppy Nook Tablet running Jelly Bean. Awesome!|

OK good that you figured out. Some pointers:
- Partition 3 and partition 4 need to be deleted when you bring up the newly created card from image. These will leave only the first 2 partitions with all unallocated space left behind.
- Create partition 3 (primary - EXT4 format); give it a name like "DATA1" or "DATA".
Make it the size you like. For my 32GB card I make it 8GB as I like to put the really big stuff (game data, etc.) on to the SDCARD (partitiion 4).
- Create partition 4 with the rest of the free space. (Primary - FAT32 format). Name it "SDCARD1" or "SDCARD".
- Hit APPLY to apply all the steps you created above.
- When done you have the card ready to boot up.
- It works perfect for me whether it is CM10 or CM10.1.
- I get all the updates from http://iamafanof.wordp

thanks, much appreciated.
and yes, all those above that have black scuff marks from cases. i've used two and both mark it up. can't get it off. i'm just going to go caseless. let all the scratching begin.
ok figured it out. i used the steps in the wiki. it didn't work with version 10 for some reason. also, no one said whether or not p4 should be primary or logical. i had to look up what those meant and still don't get it. i set it as primary and it worked. this step did not work for me for version 10, it did for version 10.1. i went ahead and upgraded.

And FYI ... what you did above ... you now only have a 600MB DATA partition (partition 3 which is the Internal Storage) because you only resized the SDCARD partition. The image was created for a 2GB card. Most people with bigger cards will want to resize the DATA partition as well to balance the 2 partitions with available card space.
If it fits you then good for you.

super annoying!!!! took me the entire night to figure out how to do it. here's my method for booting off mSD as i wanted to keep the stock nook OS intact:
1) download all files from http://iamafanof.wordp
1a) i downloaded win32diskimager, cm10 12/31/12 version, sdformatter, minitool partition wizard, 7 zip
2) 7 zip to extract cm10 12/31/12 version
3) sdformatter to format mSD card
4) win32diskimager to write extracted cm10 img
5) minitool partition wizard to resize partition 4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4nenR-mNo0) around 11 min 30 seconds into video, hit apply
6) make sure nook is completely turned off, then insert mSD, then power up and viola
my problem last night was not knowing how to use minitool partition wizard. all the info from this thread and from other forums were useless and wrong. my cm10 would get stuck on the initial logo screen and not move. this resizing was all i needed to do and very simple for any sized mSD card. hope this helps someone...
