I was about to jump on the BDT220 by PM'ing Fry's at BB since I have a bunch of BB store credit. However, I started to read about the BDT220's DLNA streaming (I'd use wired and not wireless) and there are a ton of complaints that it won't play back many standard files over DLNA that it will on a connected USB drive.
Meanwhile I don't see such DLNA streaming video/audio file compatibility complaints for the Sony S590, so I'm leaning towards that for $16 more (at Amazon).. I could PM at BB and pay about $10 in tax and use my store credit. Or I could get the BDX59 at Costco.com for $85 which people claim is the same as the S590.
What should I do?
I would like to use up the BB store credit, so I guess paying sales tax is the price I pay (as Amazon doesn't yet charge tax in my state). I don't want to have grief with DLNA streaming issues if I get the BDT220. I'm quite certain that my BB won't PM the Sony BDX59 at Costco since it's a different model # even if though it's the same thing.

|voiddweller||Picked this up on BF at BB. Great player. Wireless signal is very good with my WRT54G and I have no issues streaming 720p content from over 30 feet away. Streams Amazon and Netfix without any problems. The video fine tuning settings on this player should be the standard for all but the most basic Blu-ray players. The transport is very quiet, it loads all disks fast, DLNA works great and the LCD can be dimmed extremely low. BDLive may require an external memory source, but I never use it. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase.|

|iDylan1357||I have one. Love it. Network is pretty fast and I primarily use Netflix, which lags occasionally, but everything else has 0 lag.|

Keeping my trusty DMP-BDT110 and hoping it doesn't break any time soon.

Best bang for the buck, own 2. Would buy another to replace an LG with only Netflix, but the DMP-BDT230 comes out next month, retailing for $129. I think will wait. Yeah it will be more, but prob worth a few $ more.

2D to 3D sucks in my opinion.

Has anyone managed to make this player region free for DVDs ?
I looked at DVD hacks and it appears that it can be done for non-US units.
I'm currently using a $30 Philips DVD player to play region 2 DVDs in addition to my current (older slow-loading) Blu Ray player.
It would be nice to get one unit that plays blurays as well as all region DVDs and Wireless streaming.

|Dimahnbloe||get this player! simply put, it does a fantastic job with hd netflix content. I was streaming content from my smart tv's app and thought ther would be no difference and I was dead wrong. It inclides.other features like using your smart phone as a remote( the app was more useful than I thought it would be, though still clunky). Its go a setting for doubling wifi bandwidth( from 20 TO 40HZ, this change made the netflix us more than manageable.) The net flix ui has a just for kids filter setting (a full ui just for kids content (a god send if you are a parent)) Anth netflix you ui is full featured( same ui as on my tablet and smartphones). Image quality is noticably better than the wii or ps3 for streaming content (blueray content is also alot "cleaner" and sharper than my ps3). By th way I picked mine up used - like new from cowboom for 34 dollars. if you dont mind waiting and watching for it to apear at this price, you'll find no better deal.|

|KydDynoMyte||I got this player because it can output checkerboard 3d and can convert 2D to 3D (which I never use). Checkerboard seems to be hard to find in other players. Not being able to fast forward in youtube is annoying and there are not many panny apps. If it didn't support checkerboard I would of went with something else with better apps since my tv is dumb.|
