No longer on MS store (VIZIO 15.6-Inch Thin + Light CT15-A5)
The VIZIO 15.6-Inch Thin + Light CT15-A5 doesn't seem to be available anymore on the microsoft store.
Anybody know if this can be had for a similar price elsewhere?

I guess that will depend on how many stores stock them. The more popular models (AMD?) in the CT series might be discounted that much shortly after release.
The B1 models could be more of a small niche product like the CN15-A5 , which has yet to come down that much in price since its launch a few months ago. Besides Amazon, I've only seen them online at 1 or 2 other stores and they've been marked-up $100-$200 over MSRP. Unfortunately, you can't find good deals on refurbished Vizio laptops either as there aren't any.
I agree, though. $350 over the CN15 price point does seem a little steep to me. I'm not sure a 256GB SSD and touch screen in a slightly thinner/lighter package is worth that premium when it means sacrificing the Nvidia graphics, SD card slot, and larger storage capacity found in the CN15. I'd just as well buy the CN15 and spend $100 to replace the cache drive with a 128GB bootable mSata drive.

|mallenut||They increased the battery size. I didn't realize that wasn't on their PDFs. The current 15" ones are rated at 52Wh and these will be 90Wh. But, yeah, battery life will probably be about the same since these ones aren't using ULVs.|

real nice mallenut. now thats a contribution to the thread.. unlike some extroverts trying to impose their opinions.
reading the pdf, weight 4.84lbs, Batt life 6hrs est. that seems like a pound heavier and same real-world batt life as the current one.

CT14T-B1 (i7 quad)
CT15T-B1 (i7 quad)
When they had them up on their website, the i7 models were listed just under $1500 and the AMD ones for a little over $1K.

Sorry but I believe zero of what's coming out of your mouth now.

The Vizio definitely an attractive package but it's hard for some people to look past a shot keyboard. I can compromise on some things but need to be able to type on a notebook or I lose half its utility. For someone just entering stuff into web browsers or posting on Facebook it's not so big a deal. $700 is a fair price for it, for the moment, but it needs the right kind of user.

The potential good news is that Vizio's "2nd generation machines" (as they announced at CES) are due to be released mid-Feb and, on paper, have dramatically improved specs: Quad core i7, 8GB RAM, Touchscreen, "double" the battery life, improved trackpad and keyboard.
Do not buy this 1st generation machine that's being advertised here. I've thoroughly tested out all their 1st generation machines and they were typical of all 1st generation machines from all OEM's.. pretty much garbage with tons to improve on. This current price of $799 is a total ripoff and a dead money investment.

|HEATBaller||Yes decent machine managed to use my 50% off coupon code Microsoft corporate provided me for a previous mixup at the Microsoft store as an apology.|

|BiotechBum||The Vizio name puts me off from the start. IMO the only attractive parts of this deal are the 256 GB SSD and the screen (spec-wise, anyway; not all IPS panels are created equal). Could be a good deal for someone who gets excited for those two specs alone (hollow promises IMO). Also, how is Vizio support?|
