How long does it usually take 4myrebate to update the status after receiving the forms? I mailed them right when I got the hard drive and they haven't updated the status yet.
edit 2/22: What a coincidence, just got notification they received it.

I should have taken care of the rebate right away, but I figured I was still safe within the timeframe of submitting documentation. Wrong assumption on my part - I just called 4MyRebate and she said TigerDirect "canceled" the rebate early and they can no longer honor it. How nice.
I'm debating whether I should spend time fighting with TD about it or just forget about the $30.

TigerDirect has tons of rebates going on all the time. Not every one is shown on the product page at any given time. Sometimes the system doesn't correct link the rebate to the Item #. Other times, an employee may be lazy and forget to upload the Rebate Instruction Form, but the rebate will still populate on 4MyRebate.
If it's on 4MyRebate.com, then it is valid. You don't need a Rebate Instruction Form for it to be valid, although in this case, the instruction forms were on the TigerDirect Rebate Server (highspeedbackbone.net), and are still on it as we speak. That further goes to show that they should have shown up on the product page during the offer period. They can also be used as "proof" in a charge-back situation with your credit card.
Of course, TigerDirect has the ability to withdraw an offer at any time (like any rebate sponsor), but it was valid and people were able to register for it on 4MyRebate. In fact, I called in a phone registration for another SDer just last week, so I know they can still do it if you're persistent.
TigerDirect deciding to pull online registration was a slimy move and one that they have done in the past (Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking 11.5). Don't blame the OP, blame the company... because if it wasn't for the OP, you wouldn't have found out about this deal in the first place.
Also... for the record... TigerDirect deciding to pull this offer made absolutely no sense.
I posted the 1 TB drive for $49.99 AR ($10 cheaper than this) and they still honored it.
NOTE: My offer didn't even have a Rebate Instruction Form. It only a direct link to the rebate registration.

i spent over an hour with a TD "head" CS supervisor with no resolution. she offered a refund or $20 TD gift card. she kept saying she wasn't allowed to b/c it was the manufacturers rebate....
i refused both, wasted an hour and now soo pissed off at them. i've spent some serious money (thanks to SD) over the last 2 years.

|blowout||Like I said earlier, as far back as when this thread started there was no mention of the rebate on the product page, at least for the 1TB drive. I've checked a couple times since then and it was never there. I was able to get my rebate registered by calling in about a week ago, but I'm not sure why this thread was moved back to hot deals. If the rebate was never listed on the product page, then TD has every right to say it was never a valid offer. This rebate deal was suspect from the beginning, and it's just causing people hassles.|

|bht05||after 35 minutes with the CSR, i finally convinced him to refund the $30 to my credit card. thanks to the earlier posters for establishing that a refund could be worked - i otherwise would have accepted a return or coupon.|

I saw your posts and decided to contact myrebates.com. Was told that the rebate was cancelled and I should call TigerDirect, which I did.
I was told by TD that they never advertised the rebate offer on their website, therefore it wasn't a valid offer. I was offered $30 store credit or return item for full refund. I told them no. I also let them know that the rebate offer was valid at some point in time as some people were able to register on the myrebates.com or through phone contact. Also asked to speak to a supervisor when the conversation with the rep was going nowhere.
End result: They refunded me $30 to my CC.
You just have to be persistent, straight, and honest. The rep I spoke to was helpful. His name was Willie Riley (not sure if you can ask to speak to him as he must likely understands the situation better after this contact).

|AzMurse||Just got off the phone with the rebate center and I was told that the manufacturer had withdrawn the rebate and that it was no longer valid.... I'm pretty pissed off... Emailed TigerDirect customer service and I will also contact WD... I never would have purchased the drive without the rebate...|

|ade099||i had the same issue with the server not finding offer code TD-8483. i called the 800 number and was on the phone with a representative for about 5 minutes and she was able to get me registered. thanks to TDMVP for that, repped!|

Same issue here... On the phone trying now... Emailed customer service for Tiger and customer service for Rebate Center...
fingers crossed... I would not have bought if the rebate was bogus
