their WD 6 OS is faster than official 4.2.1, but it's essentially a 3.x.x, as far as I understand.

I've never had an account with ATT, nor do I have access to an ATT sim card. Everything I read suggest both are required to have ATT unlock the device, along with some other hoops. PLUS, from what I've read, the process takes weeks.
~$2 on eBay seemed reasonable.
All that said, after using the phone for a few hours I got the dreaded 'no sim card' error. Don't feel like fixing it so i'm returning the phone.

ended up returning them, whited00r 6 isn't really a 6.0+ version, it runs on 3.1.3, or some 3.x.x version.
it has many iOS 6 features, but not able to running many apps that I need as essential, like wechat....

Pretty smooth transaction - i'm still waiting for the phone to unlock, but so far so good. I'll update once completed.
This phone is for my Father, he just needed something to call/txt - so I felt no need to jailbreak.

|vasudel||I received the phone yesterday, it looks good other than few scrachtes on the back. So what is the easiest way to unlock?. Can I call AT&T to unlock? Or jail breaking & unlocking is the only option?. Thanks.|

Factory unlocked means the phone has been unlocked so it does work with any SIM card from any provider such T-Mobile. The "factory" part means it was unlocked by the manufacturer at the factory and was never locked, but having the phone IMEI unlocked after the fact also counts as a "factory unlock" because the result is identical - which is a full unlock that can never be reversed by iOS updates or a full restore (as opposed to a jailbreak unlock which is done in software and is undone by updates or a restore).
What you are describing with the phone locked to one network is the definition of a "locked" phone.
