With the older I7 i was a bit worried at first, but after installing it and playing Shogun total war 2 and Dues Ex without a problem, i was really happy with my purchase.
One other thing to take into consideration, I don't think the Y580 has back lighting on the keyboard, Lenovo for some reason gives the back lighting option to only a few models. I definitely could be wrong about this, just something to double check if your looking at it.

pretty good. i also like the lenovo Y580 for it's gaming prowess too. But instead of a 2nd hard drive bay it has a mSATA slot for special SSDs. A bit more expensive than what you paid though...closer to the $800-900 range.

460GTX GFX Card
60 Gig SSD (Added by me for OS)
750 GB 7200 RPM Storage drive (Original OS Drive)
Back Lit Keyboard
8GB DDR3 2X4GB
Surround Sound Support
DVD-RW (No Blue Ray Burner- can purchase one separate and add it for $75)
Overall it was a excellent purchase for what I considered a steal. Best thing about this laptop comes with a second hard drive bay, so I went on ebay purchased a second caddy and installed my SSD. I installed it before the caddy and tried to add filler so the SSD did not move much but even then it would get loose once in awhile. Also the lack of a Blue ray which I don't use was not much of a issue especially since I could add it for cheap later.

Decent battery, decent looks.. Except for that, there isn't much to expect from Samsung Laptops! Will take another couple of years before we actually trust them.

I have to say, besides the screen...which isn't as bad as people say (once you calibrate it). This laptop is damn nice. It's got a metal frame except for the bottom as well as an 8cell battery. I think runtime for websurfing is over 6hours.
I don't consider these average or standard specs at all for a 0.9" thick laptop.

|PeteyTheStriker||The lenovo deal with the gfx card is a better deal that is currently trending.|

As another poster pointed out, non dedicated graphics is a disappointment but throw in a SSD, turn the 1tb drive into an external drive via enclosure and you have a solid lappy for under $700.

Unless you really need a portable desktop with in i7, it's not that great of a deal.

|menace33||Slap in an SSD and this thing would rock even more! Too bad about no dedicated graphics though.|

|pidge||This laptop looks pretty ugly and cheap like something that was made in 2007.|
