you can't seriously recommend this route for regular consumer or pro who needs apple support. the best option for ML is still on official apple hardware. pay for it, it's worth it.

They shouldve either allowed dual Apple SSD or just gone with a standard SSD size. SDers know it more than anyone else, but Apple's pricing is ridiculous because SSD isnt that expensive. So it feels like long term then we'll always be playing catch up when it comes to SSD pricing and that kinda sucks.

I just got my rMBP. I have to admit... I'm not too entirely satisfied with the bulkiness. (I've grown to love the thinness of my MBA)
Oh well.. The display is real nice though

I'm a PC person only due to price/performance, but would prefer Apple if they were closer priced (I like all computer products-Apple and PC).

Although really, one could make the same argument about the Surface Pro. Last I checked there wasn't a GPU in that. If you're paying 1129.99 for a Surface Pro, you could spend much less and get a 650m or something similar - but you'd be making the sacrifice of portability. Although with you're bottomless accessory bag you might already be doing that, so maybe it wouldn't be a problem?

still it has nothing your concerned if a Joe that works at Whole Foods wanted his fancy Macbook Air that he just spent his entire 3 weeks paycheck to buy it. It's still his money and he ain't getting from the government (at least I hope) right????
Who care if I spent $2k on blow right?

in for one. I've never owned anything but macs. My last macbook pro, regular version, had some issues, but the only one i've ever had that had issues. It happens.
I must say, I like the retina MUCH more. Boot and wake times, speakers are MUCH MUCH MUCH improved. Actually able to listen to movies or music on without an external speaker. This one has a smaller footprint than the regular 13inchers from apple.
I'm happy with my purchase so far. Still pissed it doesn't have available a REAL graphics card. NO, intel does not make real graphics card worth anything. imo

From the retail site:
"Play games with amazing detail"
I just love when I read the Marketing write-up that Apple uses to try and move this thing. Last year I was looking to upgrade my 3 year old MacBook Pro but I wanted something that could at least do some decent gaming in addition to my 2d design and business work. I love the build quality of my old Mac, and in 09 there were not as many options for laptops that had good 3d gaming graphics and battery life.
Enter 2013 and now there is intelligent graphics switching between higher end GPUs and the Intel HD Graphics.
At this price point this thing should at least have a gtx 660m or something like it. Good luck rendering a newer 3d game at 1080p let alone its native resolution without turning on stick figure mode.
I would have gladly paid more for a high end Mac last year. The graphics options killed the deal. Picked up a Lenovo y580 and added a msata ssd. I love it.
