|professorman||Mine works. When I insert all my batteries, I press down the mode button. After I see that it is in the mode, I press it a few times and it cycles through all the modes.|

Well, I never read the manual and when I press the button beneath the battery it begins flashing and this is the ONLY time that I can adjust the mode. So, you can keep doing what isn't working because you think the manual said to or you can try what I said to do since I've been using this device for years now. Up to you.

Try as I might, I cannot get any mode other than "Charge". It seems to charge fine and I actually used it to charge some batteries I've had for some time, but there's no way to condition them if needed.

I've had mine for several years now and have witnessed the same behavior. Once you select the battery which you want to control make sure you push the MODE button firmly and several times. Sometimes it does nothing for several presses and it seems that as it flashes I have better luck pressing it when the text appears between flashes if that makes sense.

You need to push the button below each individual battery before setting the mode as you can set a different mode for each battery.

I bought this La Crosse charger (less than a month ago). I hadn't used it yet and tried it for the first time last night. I read the manual, but I am unable to get the "mode" button to work (within first few seconds before flash sets the charge rate and mode) to change the mode (e.g. Charge, Discharge/Refresh, Charge/Test, etc.). I even watched a few YouTube videos and was able to see that other's experience works to change the mode.
Any suggestions or did I just get a bad charge?

I just got mine in the mail.
So far, it's telling me most of my old batteries are pretty bad(as expected). Cant wait to discharge/charge them to refresh them and see if I can bring them back to life. They have trouble powering my mouse and remote, even!
So happy about this purchase.
