I called today (Friday). My six months at $30 deal was due to expire in a week or so. I confirmed I was speaking to a Cancellations rep.
The CSR offered me 50% off which is approximately $90 plus some taxes/fees for a year.
I asked for the 5 months for $25 or 6 months for $30 deals.
The CSR explained that those deals are no longer in the system, their pricing has changed.
I noted that I read online that many are still getting those deals, so can she please find them and apply to my account.
The CSR explained they don't exist.
I asked for a supervisor (and it was a long wait, no worries, just FYI).
The supervisor offered the same $89 half-off deal.
I explained it was too expensive, we now use Pandora at home, and declined that offer.
The supervisor offered it at half the price for six months.
I said I liked that better, but asked about taxes fees and when he noted that the total would be $63 for six months, I declined.
He asked me (in an almost script reading way) to confirm that I would be terminating.
I missed the cue, and talked about Pandora and how we don't *need* Sirius like we did in past, it's a luxury...
He again asked me, in the same script-like way, to confirm I would be terminating, almost like he needed it recorded.
I said yes, I would then be terminating.
He then offered five months for $20 (before taxes/fees).
I agreed, and noted that my credit card was cancelled (thanks Target) and I need an invoice mailed to pay by check.
He noted a $2 fee for paper invoice, and confirmed it would be sent (after I acknowledged it was OK).

called in. they were much friendlier this time.
didn't offer the 1 year. just offered the 5 for 25. tried to get the 6 for 25 i had before. It was a no go, said it was only if your radio was inactive for a month. I was fine with that and re-upped.
Probably the smoothest call i had with them.

Got a year for $6 per month and a free 6 months of internet radio. If you listen to country, the highway is phenomenal. Not much good country in NJ.
That in itself is worth it despite having rdio with the student discount.

Maybe you got lucky & the previous owner got a lifetime subscription!
I would say just enjoy until it stops & then call or go online to set up a new account. May have to call as you are not the original purchaser of the radio. (you will need the ESN # off the radio)
I got lifetime back in 07 on my current car after the 3 months trial ran out. this has paid for itself & then some..
Also have a portable but let that expire as I was using it at work & in my new location I can't get reception inside the building I am now in. (before I was able to aim the antenna at a local repeater). When they move us again later this year, if I can get line of sight again to a repeater, may start that back up at $25 for 6 again (still have my letter to come back with that offer).

I just bought a used car and the Sirius is still working now after a month. I love Howard!! I don't see how people say it has bad quality, or worse than FM, mine is pretty close or even to CD quality.
Is there a way I can check online how much longer is on the subscription? I'm addicted and will definitely have to renew.

My subscription was up and I called Sirius to cancel my two accounts. After refusing multiple offers, I finally got $89 / account with XM Select and Traffic for a year. Included every fee.. Nothing extra.

She even took the credit card off the account after charging it, so it wouldn't be charged again, without me even asking to do so! 6 mo at $25, done in 8.5 minutes. $32 after taxes. Oh, and I was only on a trial before this -- I've never been a paying customer until now.|

Okay well to those of which are just here bashing sirius, nobody is forcing it down your throat. (or ears for that matter) To be honest, if you have a phone plan with unlimited data to stream till your hearts content why would you be paying for Sirius anyways!?
As for the autorenewal, as its been stated multiple times already that you can always tack on an extra 2$ for the paper statements and avoiding an unexpected overdraft ect. In my personal experience, you dont see many companies willing to even offer that much. Please, theres no need to be appaled when you concent to a subscription and then are shocked to find its more than you bargained for because in reality, that is almost always the case. Spending a little extra time and placing a little extra effort beforehand can spare you the dismay of finding out after the 25$/5 months they are going to try and charge you for the full year. When it comes down to it, that is the only reason they are even making that offer possible in the first place!
Finally addressing the hassle of having to negotiate every time your ready to renew, which im sure nobody really enjoys having to deal with. Yep pretty much all luck of the draw but heres the glory of it, before you sink 45 minutes into arguing with a rep....you can hang up and try again if you dont hear what youd like to!
Personally I love my Sirius. Hate the idea of using an ipod and constantly hearing my same songs and growing sick of them, don't feel like paying some extravagant amount of money for an unlimited data plan, and have the pleasure of not dealing with the 5-10 minutes straight commercial blocks on fm radios. As long as your not an audiophile and can spare ~5 dollars a month and maybe ~30 minutes every 5 months to re-negotiate....I really dont see any reason not to use it.
