This is a good deal. The one thing I really like about MBAM is no annual license renewal.
I was using the free version for years and saw last year for under $10 and grabbed a few boxes. Even though I've never had issues with malware infections, it's a cheap insurance policy. And by going Pro, you support a good company helping to try and keep us a little safer from the internetz

If a person decides to run both Malwarebytes and an antivirus they should go to the settings in each program and exclude the other program. I'd at least decide whether to use the web protection of the av, assuming it has such protection, or the IP blocking of Malwarebytes, but not both. Some av's need Malwarebytes removed completely, so that issue pops up from time to time. But those av's are ones that I do not use.

I have seen a trojan ransom prevent *any* type of boot up, including safe mode.
The only thing you would get is a blank white screen every time. No actions at all were allowed. This was one sneaky and evil SOB I can tell you.
It required removal of the infected hard drive and you had to install that in another computer as a non boot drive so that MBAM could be run for removal.

FWIW, I got this for $9.99, YMMV
I was in TigerDirect in Dallas Tx store this am and saw the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro for Windows 8( and lower versions) for $19.99. I asked the nice clerk if he would match Newegg price and he, being well informed, said I didn't need that as MBAM Pro was on sale for $9.99 while quantities last. I grabbed one right away.
At home all I had to do was to enter the keys in my Free version. Great software. Have been happy with it for a long time. Great price with the DVD as a back up!

Agree... I have fixed three or four different versions of this ransomeware for people. I think it tricks them into allowing what they think is an update so it bypasses (I guess) the security software... anyway, one was a real pain to remove. I believe this guy was arrested last week so these infections might be over.

in for one. i feel its the least i can do based on how often i use the free version of MBAM; a truly excellent application.

They have been blowing right by ESET, MSE, Avast, and pretty much any other AV program you can think of.
Not only that but they make it close to impossible to remove and often require you to take the hard drive out of the infected computer and install it into another computer as a non boot drive to allow trojan removal.
