You receive a plastic Id (as with grocery or other patron-ids, you get two key-fob ids and one CC size). This must be presented at checkout -- no just matching your phone number when you lack your Id.
You then begin getting a monthly flyer with the coupons inside; it takes a month for the flyer to start arriving by the last week of the preceding month. Coupons are good from receipt until the last day of their month. [My first flyer arrived the afternoon of the 31st and became obsolete that night!]
Member-offers require the coupon be presented at checkout (as opposed to accepting your Id and automatically crediting the coupon -- [I]snarl[/I ]. The would leave you scrod for the first month except that you can print out the coupons on their internet page. (They said it may take 24 hours for your membership to be recognized.)
I'm unsure I'll need the membership after one year, but it's helped me stock-up with a lot of tools I'll only use lightly.

sliders have dramatically higher cut capacity.
a 10" slider is the sweet spot. plenty of cut capacity, and its light enough for most people to move it around easily.
7" sliders are good too, almost as much capacity as a 10" slider.
12" sliders are monsters that are just way too heavy to be easily portable.

|fourml8r||if ur a homeowner and are only going to buy one miter saw you would be much better off with a high quality FIXED (Non-sliding) miter saw. Fixed saws are much more accurate and craftsman tools are not that great to being with. Their quality has dropped dramatically over the years.|

Without being insulting, I would agree with you.

i was on the purchase-confirmation page for this when I checked the Harbor Freight email (for those who are "members"). The HF '12" Double-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser Guide ' is $130 this month (again, maybe just for members), and the reviews are enthusiastic (though several suggest the alignments should be adjusted).
In its day, Craftsman would have been a selling point, but today? Meh... 'think I'll go HF instead.

|sensia||I did quit a bit of research on sliding miter saw. Eventually bought a 7 1/2 inch sliding saw from Lowes see here . It is more than enough required for me. Best part, I can swap blades between my circular saw and miter saw. And it is accurate as well.|
