|monkeybiz||after reading one of the negative reviews I tried a WD USB 3 Cable on my Walmart Toshiba. I paid $39 for a 1TB but it wouldn't stay connected. Now moving files around between external drives at 13MB/sec. Not blazing fast but at least it's staying connected with a different brand cable.|

i had a couple seagate external drives still new in box. these were advertised as back up , just plug it in everything is formatted and ready to go, they didnt tell you the backup software that they include is only free for 30 days and then you had to buy it. I could find no place on the box where it stated that. Peed me off enough to learn about all the better open source software , hat is not proprietary . Acronis too, they wanted another license to back up a second pc, This is their new software, the older acronis i had, i never had a problem backing up more than one pc. Sent me right over to source forge. Probably forever.
i have wd passport, hopefully it is good for more than one pc and no 30 day trial back up software, with no mention of this part on the box.

|sheshe30||I bought a toshiba laptop back in Dec it had a coupon to save $20 off this hard drive. The coupon expires at the end of this month. To bad I already used mine last month to get the 1.5 tb hard drive for $69.99.|

It is a "Clamshell" design and uses 10 plastic prongs to hold the two halfs together.
No matter how careful you are , you will break a few of the prongs , but you don't really need all of then to snap it back together.
