Can't really say,but my best guess is your likely have to go 4.0 to 4.1 to 4.2.
To get the Stock 4.1 on a TF300 to run smoothly(aka fast scrolling) takes some work. Like turn on no background process in the developer setting, use dolphin mini with a fast samsung/sandisk sd card caching turned-on. Firefox,Chrome,Stock,Boat, Dolphin, Max. all lag with 4.1.

If i want to root without unlock do i still root ICS and do OTA rootkeeper and then upgrade to 4.2? Do i have to go to 4.1 first?

ASUS has a dockable keyboard the can turn it into a sudo netbook, HD screen, and starts at 32gb. The dock has its own battery with can give another 8-10 hrs, full sized USB 2.0 port and a SD slot for more memory. I've got a 64gb micro, 64gb SD, 32gb on board and whatever thumb drive I want so great for movies over a long trip. Ubuntu touch is in the process of being ported so the netbook aspect is even better if you want to dual boot and keep the android side.
I would say creative/artistic would be note and anything else ASUS. You can do your drawing on any tablet but from what I've played with the note wins that battle.

In case you're on a budget and still want a quad core Tegra 3 tablet, this one works pretty snappy for the price $199 refurbished.
