It has a microphone and listens...

I'm still trying to figure out how it saves any money over a regular setback thermostat.

Just get the nest 1 with the lowes coupon and it's only $180. Nest 1 uses the same software and unless you have an expensive 2 stage cooling system (which break down much faster btw) it is the same unit as nest 2.
Also, the fact that you simply set it and forget it makes this thing worth it alone, plus it will pay itself off by sensing when you leave the house as well.

i've never owned but from what i understand the nest learns your habits and adjusts accordingly. it learns when you are home and when you are away.
i guess there are some mixed results with that technology but ultimately its about saving money. I suppose the thing could save you enough over three years or so to pay for itself.

|DQue||3m-50 for $64 at HD (if you're lucky, -$10, Lowes coupon). This is a Repub version, for ppl who love to burn money.|

|Peakmaster||Aside from aesthetics, I don't understand why this thing sells for $250 and the Honeywell and Filtrete wifi models sell for under a $150. I paid $100 for the Filtrete 3M-50 and it works great.|

I was looking to get one and was wondering if this offer for $25 GC still on?
I don't see the promotion when I click on the link.

I've been wanting to get this for awhile, I wonder if this is the time. With the "get an extra 500 rz points for spending $10 bucks" deal floating around, should see around $35.00 in gc/rewards. + the 2x rz pts for just purchasing the nest...which'll net an extra 400-500 rz (~$10), bringing it up to $45.00 in rewards/gc.
Can not decide whether or not this device is worth the $200+ asking price. Any one have this and can attest to it?

I guess I just dont understand the need/use for a $200 thermostat.
I have my $14.99 Honeywell setback.
It turns the heat/air up/down when I'm at work, and when I'm asleep.
I looked on a review of the thing, and the only "benefit" I can actually see is that you can control it through a smartphone.
Maybe I'm missing something
It looks cool !!!
Not $200 cool....but cool !
