It's $10 off for something that is going to updated pretty soon.
This thing is much more expensive than the competitors, and I don't think iOS and just being part of the apple ecosystem is worth the premium anymore.
Apple's model is to sell mass market premium stuff, not commoditized stuff. Tables, smartphones--they are quickly becoming commodities a la the digital camera. They need to move on with some new category to justify the pricing. I would argue that there is no mass market for high-end digital cameras, most cameras sold are still point and shoots. The iPhone is more like a luxury point and shoot rather than a digital slr that truly has better parts. The iPhone and iPad mini are not sufficiently distinct these days to warrant the pricing structure simply b/c the baseline quality of tablets and phones has risen markedly with Android.

|huycaguy||Deal is good if you live outside Cali. I won't pay for $300+ for this low resolution iPad... If you never use iPad 3 or 4, then it is OK for u, but after u go retina, this mini is a sucker... Wait for the 2nd gen!|

|nyknicks8||I agree with their the other poster in that I would wait for the retina display. The resolution makes a huge difference.|

I myself do not like their prices nor the company (I don't own their stock), so I don't go out and buy every product they make. The only apple product I have is the ipad, which in my opinion is the best tablet out there when jailbroken. To me it was worth the premium cost. Now for apple's other products, I don't think it's worth the price, nor is it best for my purposes.

You will probably defend Apple by saying they don't make money on Advertising like Google does - but doesn't Apple make a crapload on App Sales? - wouldn't selling iPads with a lower margin give them more $'s in app sales? After all doesn't Apple make MUCH more on app sales than Google on Android (I hear fanboys touting this all the time as the reason why developers favor iOS)
