|graure||This card is nowhere near as bad as the posts are making it out to sound -- I picked up the Galaxy version of this card at black friday in 2011 for about this price after MIR. Hooked up to a 1680x1050 monitor it performed very well, light years beyond what the onboard graphics of a 2500K processor could do. I never had problems with fan noise or heat and I was using it in a mini-ATX case sitting on the desktop right next to the monitor. I've since upgraded that card to a 560ti 448 that I bought at black friday in 2012 and moved the 550ti to serve as a PhysX card in my main computer -- another job where it serves very well. The very few games that support it, like Borderlands 2 and Arkham City look fantastic with it going, and in the computer's downtime, I run the folding@home client on it where it does about 12k-15k points per day. This card has a lot of uses for a great price, thumbs up!|

These cards have a stupidly high minimum fan speed. I've had to mod 4 of them to lower the minimum fan speed to 0%, and then setup a speed/temp profile through any of the free programs out there (or it can be done directly through the nvidia tools download).
Modding was pretty easy. Just loaded my bios, changed the fan speed, and then reloaded the bios back onto the card.

For it's lifetime, this card sold a lot better than it should have.
It was usually cheaper to get a 460 which outperforms it

|RMThompson||Using the 6450 now, what kind of power supply would I need for this hog?|

I picked up a GTX 650-Ti over X-mas for $100 at Fry's B&M. That turned out to be a lot better deal than I had initially thought; if that card were available today at that price point, I'd recommend it over this card instead. But, still the 550-Ti isn't isn't too bad if what you're using now really sucks (like integrated Intel graphics). And for $75 (on Friday) with no rebates and even possibility of store P/U you could do worse for a video card.

|adaweawe||I heard this card is a lot hotter and consumes more power than the 600 series or the HD 7000 series. If you don't care about all that but I guess it doesn't matter. But if you are trying to cut down on price then keep in mind low power consumption is going to save you may be like five bucks of electricity bills every year. Of course it depends on how much you use your computer and how much you play graphic intensive games.|
