|RotJ||Just got mine in. The microphone doesn't work on my Android phone, even though Android was mentioned in the description. Looks like it's wired specifically for Apple devices.|

If you use something like comply foam tips then you will be able to block your ears with your earphones like you would with a ear plug, you will barely be able to hear anything other than your music.

I have some ER4Ps that block out sound very well. I cannot hear anything at all. However these IEMs are very pricey for most. I have other earphones that are a lot cheaper to avoid having to throw down so much cash in a set of headphones or IEMs. I have some ATH-M50s, HE Re0, Shure Se215, Brainwavz Betas and Senn H120s. All have suited me well though each one were a bit pricey or cheap.
I am tempted to jump on the R1s though I am curious how these compare to the HE RE0s.

Etymotic is a good brand if you need isolation and quality but it a bit more pricey.
These occasionally go on sale so keep your eye out over the year. These block noise well but are much more "invasive" to the ear canal when compared to other buds so comfort will vary.

It depends on how much isolating you're looking for. These fit in your ear with varying tip styles, some are silicone or something that isolate pretty well. But you won't get REALLY good isolation without active noise cancellation. It also depends on how loud you listen to your music lol
I have used the R1's at work and I can't really hear people around me.

|clarkkent06||I've had the R1's (w/mic) for about 5 months, got them from Amazon at the last sale for $29.50. Definitely worth the price, they come with a nice carrying case too. I'm kind of a bass head, and these have plenty of bass. For the price they are excellent and compare to anything I've heard under $75|

P.S. Sorry for my horrible English, it's really hard to get enough speaking practice in monolingual country like mine but I love this forum and share goodies with you guys when I stumble upon it.

What about R1? Should I upgrade? I use Denon AH-D2000 at home but beta when roaming around the city. If R1 are as sturdy and offer something more I would like to know that. Thanks.

|gumburgerler||Wish I would have waited. I got R1 (w/o mic) from MP4nation last week and now have to wait 3 wks for them to arrive. Amazon is the better choice to order from for faster shipping and customer service in the event they needed to be returned. Repp on the good find.|
