|tadrian||Just FYI, my camera had that noise defect, so I went to a different target that had a display off, and they are now 75% off, so $79 total after tax. That may be the case for other cameras. As always, YMMV. Lucky for me, this display did not have the sound defect!|

I have one of these cameras and it is a really nice one. Keep in mind that its low-light capability is rather limited due to having a small 1/2.3inch sensor, and a f3.5 maximum aperature. That means it isn't as good for indoor photography, especially of moving subjects.
Auto mode will jack up the ISO to 800+ and you have a very noisy picture. Or you restrict the ISO and wind up trying to take pics of toddlers with 1/6th second shutter...and they are all blurry.
But that zoom is awesome, and it stabilizes well. Ive taken pics of Hawks, deer, and other stuff that wouldn't be possible in the slightest normally.
I recommend this camera IF you are going to take a lot of outdoor pics or expect to need the zoom. For the price honestly you won't find a bigger sensor camera anyways. Very few will have a significantly better aperature setting.
I also recommend trying out CHDK. Despite the formidable appearance all you really do is take your Sim card that the camera has already formatted/accepted, stick it into your computer, copy the appropriate unzipped files onto the root directory of the card and you are done! (to determine the version you run a java program, feed it a picture taken with the camera and it tells you the firmware version).
You then turn the camera on by using the PLAY BUTTON (not the pwr button), click MENU, FIRMWARE Update, and select it. Boom. Good to go.
This buys you a lot of neat stuff, but the most helpful are:
a) RAW mode. (this kills your picture speed though due to size of image)
b) An ACTUAL battery life indicator in percent...vs having full bars then all the sudden its out of gas.
c) Histogram - Shows you if you are blowing out your highlights/shadows. Nice to have.
d) AutoBracketing - this is for doing HDR shots. It will take a 0 EV shot, then a +1, then a -1, a +2, -2 and so on (actual values and EV step are settable). It took a bit of fiddling to get it to work but its at least doable.
Hope this helps.

Got one. Will try out the camera in next couple of days.
Store: Garner, NC. Online inventory checker said "Limited Stock".
They had 1 display + 1 new. I got the new one. Associate said, I can
get 10% discount if I get the display model.

|lorikellym||Thank you to the OP and to the others that posted the inventory check link. My nearest Targets were out, but drove 30 miles and scored 2 new in the box. They had 2 more as of noon in the McKinney, TX store. No display model, these were in the locked display case. Now just hoping mine don't make the 'eeee' noise!|

|tadrian||My store said that they only do discount for TV floor models and nothing else. Not even on cameras at all. Is there anywhere online we can take a look at their policy on this, or it's just YMMV? Seems random for a "company wide" policy... or could be that the person just didn't want to deal with me.|

|ronjonlasvegas||I bought one yesterday morning. I found a store in Las Vegas that had two new in box cameras plus the one display model. When I left there yesterday they still had one and one. If anyone in Las Vegas in still looking it was the store on Tenaya and Cheyenne.|

Well, I do not remember my exact words, but my meaning was there is no specific guarantee with regards to knowing that the employee at the electronics counter will:
A) even agree to sell the display model (I have personally been told NO - we will NOT sell you the display by SEVERAL different employees)
B) the amount of discount given. Again, I personally have been told NO discount for display, and also have received both 20% and 50% off a display model...
I was only trying to share the information for the betterment of all slickdealers so that they can know what their possibilities are and know that they can confidently tell the salesperson that the Demo models CAN be sold if it is the last one AND that they can receive a hefty discount as well.<br>
I had nothing personal to gain (I do not need Reps) and I was just trying to help and I still do not see how I did anything harmful or wrong that you would delete the wiki post...

I was just wondering why did you delete my wiki post and replace it with all "x"'s? did I do something wrong with what I wrote in the post?

|Ragnorok64||Any good active deals on Sandisk SD cards? It seems the latest one was a price mistake that's now dead.|
