1. uniform thin wall cast iron with heavy perfect flat bottom
2. better casting methods and better grade of iron. ask anyone who knows vintage non-enamel. All cast iron is not the same.
3. crap chinese enamel will blister, flake off rather quickly, LC never.
4. LC rim is finished in clear coat or at least use to be. Otherwise will rust
Can't say if today's LC is as good as the old stuff.
As far as Staub goes, newer stuff not as rugged imo but the enamel is like art and some prefer the table presentation.
For those who ask what will they cook in a cast iron enamel French/Vanatuvian oven, check out the recipes at the LC site. Gives superior results for certain dishes such as Coq A Vin, home made tomato sauce and soups. Low wide 7-1/4 is for risotto, Marmitako, paella. Not a good choice for those who are rough with their cookware, tend to burn stuff on the hob or are in a hurry.

If you don't care for a product, please move on. No need to thread crap; it adds nothing of value to the site.

I skimmed over the posts to see if anyone mentioned this, but Costco sometimes sells a Kirkland enameled dutch oven for around $75 or $80 that is made in France. The wife believes it may be a Le Creuset with an identity crisis. She loves it.

Followed the link above and checked out clearance cookware at Cutlery & More. The Staub 6-qt dutch oven is available for $199.95 in six colors with a nickel knob on the lid that's good up to 500°. Haven't finished looking but shipping is free over orders over $49.

|rfrose||I ordered one of the 7.25 ones. Very pleased. The color is "Granite", comes with a black handle on the lid. The Granite color is a matte dark grey, just like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SET-OF-2-...1004570027|

|kuzmak||I've actually ordered two pots 3.5 and 7.25. Both arrived in gray and large one had a big (~1.5 inches) and deep scratch on the outside by the handle. When I contacted Tanga and asked for replacement, they requested that I send them the picture of the damage. Since I was out of town, I responded that I won't be able to that for a while they told me that in that case I'd need to ship it back and they won't even cover shipping charges. On top of that they completely ignored the fact that I've asked twice for replacement...Their customer service clearly sucks - wondering if I should send both pots back now.|

|Gosh||I wonder who the hell is TangaDotCome guy who confirmed it's black. Now Tanga says nobody represents it on Slickdeals....and the pot is grey|

FYI: It's not Signature, it's Classic / Original - less strong enamel, less heat resistant knobs, smaller handles, different lines on lids. Very disappointed in Tanga.
The picture on their site presents Signature model, but I, like I guess everybody else, received Classic...
