I also just got the LG 234v-pn from the other deal and not that impressed with that one either. Wish I had known there's no refunds on monitors from Newegg.
Think I'm going to try the 23xi from the staples deal.

At the 3ft distances I sit from my screens, it isn't bad at all.
I'd have to look, but I don't think my 30" has the same coating.
Here is an example of the anti-glare layer being removed from an LCD: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?

Stock, the screens had an annoying blue hue. I'm glad I could turn that off. I'm not sure why they'd default to that "neutral" that is very blue-heavy. For contrast, I was able to see a difference at every level in the tests. The gamma came across the board at around 2.1-2.2. Black levels work with the good contrast ratio, if you're in a dark room to see the lower levels. There is no banding in the image, which I kinda expected.
It has its faults, but not for $100. Usually we're getting LED-backlit TN panels for that price, with a heavy blue hue that you can't fix since it's a physical limitation. Plus, these things have vesa mounting holes, unlike most of the cheaper panels. I don't game on these (use my 30" with minimal input lag) so I don't know how they'd do, but they're rated right up there with my 30". I can't find gray to gray numbers for these monitors though - I can only assume they are the same as all the other 21.5" IPS panels. I don't see there being an issue with ghosting with these screens as the response is in line with my 30" on/off response time. I have no idea about input lag, but I'd also turn off scaling just to have any chance of limiting the display's processing. Dark games would probably annoy me though, with the fairly bright "blacks".

Viewing angles, contrast, matte finish all compares well to my 30". The blacks are pretty gray on these things though. You can also see the placement of the LEDs at the bottom of the screen, but it isn't bad at all. I've seen annoying backlight bleed, and these don't have much.

|woomer051||Ended up returning mine, sucky monitor even for $100. Really thought this was slick, and normally it is. Was expecting a decent clear picture with glass panel and rich colors good viewing angles. Got a grainy matte finish panel with meh viewing angles, by no means ips quality, except for people who never owned ips.|

I have the 23" version of the Asus already and it does not exhibit this behavior, or at least its too mild to notice. It appears this is due to the anti-glare coating on IPS displays, though the prominence varies.

Are you guys not seeing this? Is it the anti-glare? Or did I just get a dud?

gingerbrown, can you describe what was noticeable in the response time for gaming? I set this lenovo up against my asus vs238h (which is supposed to be 2ms), duplicating the displays, and couldn't for the life of me tell the difference playing crysis on high settings off a GT550 Ti. I'm really trying to fault this lenovo somehow so I can justify returning it, so I'm hoping you could point me in the right direction of finding that 14ms lag.
and you're right, the quality (picture, res, blacks) is amazing.
