12 amp versus 11 amp, silver verus black, otherwise identical.
From Black & Decker customer service :The two edgers are almost identical in features with the exception of the Amps as you noted. Both the LE750 and EH1000 has a 7-1/2" hardened steel blade with tool free assembly, a depth adjustment of 1", 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" and weight 12.4 lbs. The EH1000 is the upgraded version of the LE750 since it has a more powerful motor.
The R on the end just means its a refurb.

Just finished up mine. This time I think I put it in trench mode and it seemed to work better.
Still not clear about the width settings. There is a handle to turn and all it does is loosen the blade.
I guess I could read the instructions. English might be among the multiple languages.

the short warranty ??
Do you consider 2 years to be "short" ?
My 2 refurb computers years ago had 90 day warrantys and they lasted until they were obsolete.
I was explaining why a few hundred might not be a "lot".
And now you are saying 2 years are short ?
And you are talking about GAS edgers ?
No traffic to play in ?

OP I dont understand why you are explaining how purchases and returns work? People on this deal are posting their experiences with the purchase and if the deal is not that good especially the the short warranty and issues then the deal should speak for itself.
As for the Gas/Electric argument; I love gas trimmers and edgers for the convenience and power. That being said I have had issues with even those units especially if the mixture is not done right and at the beginning of each season and the biggest difference is that those units are more expensive.

A couple of things...
Its not JUST this model, its pretty much everything.
Large companies like Lowes, Walmart & so forth have deals with the manufacturer that if an item is returned for any reason and its not re-saleable as new...the manufacturer EATS it. That is, Lowes & Walmart deduct it from their next invoice. I presume the units are shipped back to lowes and then B&D picks them up & looks them over & resells them so they can recover some of their costs.
Its very possible, likely even that some of these were returns that someone bought, used for a half hour & returned for a full refund. Not because there was anything wrong with it but because the retailers policies pretty much allow it.
Im guessing they have sold 300 or so over the last few weeks since marking the price down. Sounds like a lot, right ?
Maybe not when you consider that Lowes has 1754 Stores in the US.
I have no idea how many each store sells. Lets say its 50 a year. Thats 87,700 units. 300 or 500 or even 1000 is like a rounding error.
I bought a recliner from Sams. Was a great chair for a number of years.
Well, a part failed from so much use. I took it apart & figured out that the problem was. Called the manufacturer, they knew what it was and were willing to "give" me the part.
But I had to pay for shipping. UPS only. $14.99 for a small metal part that would make my old chair usable again.
I told them priority was $6 and Id pay that. They only send UPS.
So I borrowed a truck, took the chair back and got a full refund from SAMS. YEARS later.
Sams didnt take the loss. The manufacturer did. So instead of solving my problem, they got a $400 recliner back. I took the $400 and used part of it to buy a similar one on closeout for $250.
All over a few dollars shipping.
I wouldnt have even considered doing that had they just sent me the part priority and I would have paid the $6. I wasnt willing to pay $15.
Im inclined to believe there are a number of people who return items after they use them even though there is nothing wrong with them.
Im going to get back out there and attack the part of my yard that I skipped before.
Comfortable with my 2 year warranty. Yeah, it'd be a pain to have to drive it across town & then pick it up. But that would be the case If I paid $89+ tax at Lowes for a brand new one.
I expect mine will not have a problem for years to come. But if it does, I will deal with it then.
A dishonest person could buy a new one, return the old one in the new box at Lowes and handle it that way. Unless the refurb is somehow marked and the return clerk at lowes knows what to look for.
