I've been a subscriber for 4 months now and from my experience, this VPN is cheap for a reason.
Along with the poor customer service documented in this thread, it is not uncommon for me to have to connect/disconnect multiple times before it will accept my connection. And when it finally connects, I experience poor speeds on 90%+ of the servers. Furthermore, I purchased this VPN not to torrent or p2p, only to watch legal streams at twitch.tv using the US servers which are suppose to be dedicated to hd video streaming. The problem is its not even fast/stable enough for me to do that without lag making the VPN completely useless to me.
Initially, I had success watching HD streams with this VPN, but the service has gotten progressively worse. Another user theorized that they were overselling the capacity and my experience points to that. The fact that I signed up for a year only to experience service that is unusable in the middle of my subscription with no means to get my money back really makes me angry.
From the promo code, it seems like this promotion is in partnership with slickdeals which makes me lose respect for this website. There were users complaining about this VPN the last time this promotion was on the front page and slickdeals continued to partner with them for this promotion. It makes me sad they endorsed a poor product and put profit ahead of the complaints and poor consumer experience reported by users of slickdeals.

Finally got my refund after waiting 11 days, bad customer service. I wouldn't try this service out if even if they have a refund policy, because you have to hassle them for it to go anywhere and wait almost 2 weeks. I can't recommend them to anyone based on their customer service performance, I would hate to see them get back to or help you on any issues.
On another note if you want to compare, Octane VPN refunded me next day after request was made. I cancelled my original account which was more expensive with Octane VPN, and switched to their sale of $29.99 per year(it doesn't automatically bill you full price at renewal like Torguard will). Also their speed is miles and miles faster then Torguard, 100 times better customer service also.

|JohnLeslie||And still waiting for refund since request on July 17th, with two tickets created now and supposedly escalated several times. Brutal.|

So I explained how I was using OpenVPN directly on the command line in Linux (forget about the iPad and Android device I mentioned in my last post; those devices are of a lower priority to me for now), and asked how I could connect to their "Stealth" servers, since those servers' configurations required some sort of proxy.
And then, as if just because I spoke to him about it, he (or someone else or some other team within TorGuard) changed the OpenVPN configuration files on the torguard.net website. For everybody. He changed the config files to use "transparent obfuscation" rather than requiring 3rd party proxy software (if you're curious, take a look at the new config file). My input changed something for the better. That's awesome.
Using OpenVPN on the command line, I tested 62 of the TCP server configuration files and found that 16 of them didn't work for me. I provided detailed error output from the shell to the cs rep. I've been a bit busy lately, but I'll go back and test those server config files again to see if they work for me now.
Oh, and on another note for anyone who is using OpenVPN--if you are using a recent enough version of OpenVPN, put "remote-cert-tls server" without quotes on a separate line in every *.ovpn file in order to have better protection against Man-In-The-Middle Attacks. I've tested this and their servers are properly set up for certificate checking.
An easy way to do this in Linux is to open a shell and in the correct directory, do:
# sed -i '/auth-user-pass/ i\ remote-cert-tls server' *.ovpn
# sed -i 's/auth-user-pass/&\ up/g' *.ovpn
# chmod 400 up
Of course, the above instructions apply to users using Linux. I'm sure you can find a way to do the same thing in Windows. Kind of.

|JohnLeslie||Wow enjoy waiting for torguard to refund you. Still waiting now going into week 2 and supposedly being moved up in cue. I wasn't a big fan of the speeds and software after trying them out. 30 day and under 10gb risk free money back guarantee is nice and all, but be prepared to wait a long time for that refund.|
