|spl152db||looking historically at ssd's and hard drives in general, paying more now will not be a better deal than getting this and buying a new one in 3 years. the extra you spend now, could probably replace this drive completely in 3 years with something better.|

|malt0se||I bought this but I'm kind of regretting it based on some of the reliability and life expectancy issues. I will do some video editing and I don't want this drive to fail in 3 years. Should I return it and get a higher end drive?|

|Holleryo||I ended up passing on this "deal" and ordered a 256GB Pro.. the extra 2 year warranty is worth $73.00 to me.|

|robvas||I have this in my second laptop. It's awesome. I wouldn't stick it in a video rig or database server but for 90% of home users you don't need the 840 Pro.|

Does anyone know if I can transfer my entire Windows 7 installation to this using something like Norton Ghost?
I'm on a regular spinning HD and I really want to upgrade to SSD without re-installing everything.

Never said to not use these as your main OS drive. I'm fully aware that Win7/Win8 doesn't take a huge amount of space and 250gb is more than enough for the OS...however, some of the programs that you may install can bump you over if they install under your program data / user profile directory (such as iTunes (iphone), EA Games...etc).
I have two first gen 32gig intel ssds and they run great paired together...however, doesn't take much to fill up my OS drive once I install aps. I had to relocate my user profile and programdata directories. 250gb will be fine for most users and even for me, but might not be for some heavy users.
Currently, my user profile folder is taking up 73GB + 517mb for programdata. I would have gone over my limit had I not relocated some of this data to my other drive.
