|ededlee||The problem if they fire sale this right away would be the same thing that happened to hp touchpad, some devs would develop Android for it and it would run a heck of alot better than win rt, and everybody would dump the rt ecosystem|

as well as made some really nice bundle deals without the RT in curculation... just the pro..... again as cheap as they could without pissing off HP/Dell and so on too much... Bundle deals like get a nokia win 8 phone, surface pro with touchcover at a super low competitive price and get a voucher for $100 off a xbox one or $100 off a windows 8 desktop/laptop/ultra.... that way you get a bunch of people in their windows world and windows cloud and it would be harder for them to get out in the future...
this would also have doubled the % of windows 8 users and app/software developers for windows 8 stuff...and prob would have allowed their next windows version be that much more successful bc people are already in the miscrosoft user base...

Today Microsoft announced a $900,000,000 write down in regards to Surface RT inventory. I'd hear they ordered / built about 4,000,000 Surface RTs. Assuming they sold 1,000,000 that means they have 3,000,000 Surface RTs sitting in warehouses, stores, etc.
$900,000,000 / 3,000,000 Surface RTs = $300 writedown per Surface RT.
So, MS is expecting to lose $300 per RT... $150 of that is the very recent price drop.... What do they have planned for the other $150?
Free Keyboards? Another Discount? Sales to schools?

This is not a bash either... I think apple products great for people who want a product that does basics.
If you want a work tablet, go Windows 8 (I can't recommend RT for anyone) and if you want a power user tinkering item, then go Android.

|Kazenokatana||While I do really like my RT Tablet (XPS 10) I can't help feeling like it's very unpolished in area's I didn't expect Microsoft to miss, ofcourse I could just not know how to use it right. For instance using the calculator takes you to the Desktop, I know you could just download a regular calculator app, but I feel like they shouldn't have had you go through the extra effort. I also don't like how in order to change my IE homepage I had to go to the browser version, it's possible I just couldn't find out where you really change it but that was the only solution I found after browsing online for it. Finally I don't like how Microsoft restricts you to only their browser, they seem really cocky to do such a thing when really they need all the app help they can get right now.|
