he real talks so hard. Moto is aiming for the typical consumer, not us "geeks"
I bet if you look at sales, the Nexus 4 doesnt touch the SGS4 in sales even though its priced starting at $300.
When you aim for the mass market (not tech nerds/geeks), you get more money. Like the guy said in the video, the stupidest thing Moto did was an exclusivity on Moto Maker. Thats basically what will set this phone apart, yet they f*cked that up. For Moto's sake, I hope AT&T are paying a shit ton for that exclusivity

I could have seen them doing maybe $299 in line with the Nexus 4, but whoever thought this was going to be $199 off contract, is an idiot.

If u really think I failed miserably, you are wrong. Every one was with me here. and every analyst was also thinking that it would be a low priced phone.

Ha..how the hell did I miss this thread?
Yeah biggest disappointment from Motorola, ever. I've never liked Motorola. Quality wise, their phones are fine, but the insane amount of security B.S. I have to go through is annoying as crap. It took me 3 days to get a Bionic activated on Page Plus as Verizon's jellybean update had put it all kinds of BS restrictions that I had to manually program it. Locked bootloaders and having to do things differently from practically any other Android device on the market is annoying as hell. This is across all their devices.
The Moto X was supposed to be a change. It was going to be the very first device designed by Motorola, with Google leadership. However, no (or little) support from Google apparently. I don't know why they are pushing it as such a separate entity. They're treating Motorola like any other OEM, but they really shouldn't....they outright own them, so there's no anti-trust issues. My only guess, is to not piss off their other partners (LG, Samsung, HTC, etc.) into forking Android, but still...very disappointed.
If this thing is seriously going to be like $575 off contract when it hits Google Play, then they might as well write it off as a failure and take a loss (see Nexus Q). Why would I choose this over an S4 or HTC One? So stupid.

Wonder if the unlocked HTC One ($599 shipped) and Samsung Galaxy S4 ($649 shipped) sold directly on Google Play store run better since it is using the Google Play edition (Pure Android) of Android instead of any junk added by T-mobile/AT&T carriers and also without the additional customizations/skin add by HTC and Samsung.

Same goes with Windows Phone.
But Android is just ugh. I don't understand why people would buy a phone that is so laggy(like WM6) for a lot of money on contract.
You can tweak it, install ROMs from other websites but for people who want a device that works out of the box, makes calls, surfs the web and is not laggy, then you can't say those people are ignorant fools. Because you're fooling yourself by saying that.

The moto x looks like cheap version of the htc one. I'd still rather get the htc one mini than this even if they were the same price. I honestly don't know who this phone is marketed to. The masses ignorant of tech will buy iphones, the more tech savvy will realize that this phones a piece of $*#&. Its too expensive for those looking for mid range phone. Hard to believe a company like google with $900+ per stock can be this stupid. This will go the same way of the facebook phone. And motorola making a statement that they'll make an even cheaper phone is just *facepalm*
