|Davebag||Looks like this deal has ended. I went to the local Walmart last night to potentially pick one up, the person in electronics said they didn't honor the price on the website. I know I could have went to management, but it was late and I didn't feel like fighting it. I was going to head to Best Buy or Target and get a price match this morning but Walmart has changed the price back to $199.|

You could also see last generation Pokemon games go on quick sales at Best Buy for $19.99.
Games like Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong Country, Fire Emblem, etc have chances to slide below that $30 mark . . . rare but I've seen it.
But the most you will see a traditional Mario Kart, "New Super Mario", 3d Mario, Zelda, This Generation Pokemon game go on sale for is the $29.99 mark and the 3DS/DS has yet to do the Evergreen/Select titles.
Regular Prices on these titles never change though, just by looking at the DS games.

Nintendo is NOT phasing out the "clamshell". It's a feature that has helped make their portable console very popular, and I don't forsee them changing this in the long-run (although they will probably continue the 2DS line as a "cheap" alternative to the 3DS and retain the 3DS/XL prices at higher MSRPs for a longer time). They are still producing more special editions of this version and have no immediate plans to stop.
As for the 3DS going down to $99 MSRP, you won't see this until the next generation 3DS XL replacement is released (as I mentioned in my previous post)... especially since the 2DS is priced at $129 and the 3DS is priced slightly higher. The 3DS (not XL) will likely hit the $99 mark when it gets closer to the EOL for that model, and the 2DS may go even lower than that when its successor is announced... maybe 3-4 years from now. Honestly, IMHO after the whole holiday season is over and people get back into the grind of things (maybe in another few weeks), prices for Nintendo's portable gaming systems will probably go back up to $199 MSRP again (with the occasional sale prices of $169-$179) until Nintendo makes another "official" price drop (maybe later this year?).

Yup, chances are that the 3DS XL won't reach sub-$100 price until after the next-gen 3DS XL comes out to replace it (similar to how the DSi XL didn't reach that price until after the 3DS XL was released). This will probably be in 3-4 years (maybe more). In the past, Nintendo hardware typically doesn't go through more than 2 "official" price drops (excluding BF deals, price mistakes, etc) before the next-gen hardware is released.
And as far as 3DS games reaching <=$20, that's very possible for 3rd party titles (especially the really cheesy titles made for young kids, or casual gaming titles, or unpopular titles). However, Mario, Luigi, Zelda, and other Nintendo "flagship" first-party titles will NEVER "officially" drop to those levels (excluding price mistakes, bundling deals, coupon/rewards stacking, etc). Heck, MarioKart DS (predecessor of MarioKart 7 made for the DSi in 2005) is still selling at $35 brand new retail... and people are still buying it!

Gateway card is cool.. save you money on games, It's not ideal for a 4 year old. I'm constantly having to make sure that he does not update it. The WiFi is turned off but he popped in a game from his cousins (Sonic Lost World) and the game forced an update to 5.1 after he accepted it and ruined the 3DS. Lucky I was able to get my hands on another 3DS with 4.4 on it and got it going again.
Just saying, think twice before investing on the card and the extra work if it's for your kid...

|thatswhack01||Target wouldn't price match for a red one, pretty sure they could do nothing about it because they used an iPad to do the whole matching process and it looked pretty structured. Bestbuy had the right firmware in red but would only do black. No targets or walmarts had the older firmwares. I bought a black one from walmart and Toys R Us let me exchange it for a red one, they also have a ton of the older firmware so I advise you check out a local Toys R Us. All this info is for the West Houston area.|
