The extended episodes are a pretty big deal, really. There are lots of moments that never made sense, then I saw the extended episode and realized they were referencing something from an additional/extended scene. Many episodes have 2+ minutes of additional footage. That may not sound like much, but for a 20-22 minute episode, that's a lot.
I've been so torn on this. On one hand, I definitely want the extended episodes. But, on the other hand, I want the HD versions. Plus, I saw a thread once a long time ago that showed how the widescreen shots from the blu-ray release actually revealed stuff you could never see in the 4:3 shots. Like, characters being entirely omitted from shots due to where they were standing. I can't believe how badly they screwed up not using the extended episodes.
