Concerning the environment, this thing still has a battery which is how it holds the charge. I guess a capacitor could be made to work but doubt they would bother using a quick discharge type part like that?
I do like the idea of solar panels however saying up front I have not heavily researched the lately I would like to point out that just because you're using energy from the sun does not mean your saving the environment/world/private ryan. You need to take into account the total waste and energy that goes into producing, maintaining, and disoposing of each product you compare which I very rarely ever see anyone do. That's also why I hate them stupid hybrids. If we made cars that got 60+ miles a gallon on a straight fossil fuel burning engine before why do we need to through in a battery type setup to achieve that again? Costs of producing those battery packs, replacing them, equipment to maintain them, dispose of them, etc add up. I do not know for sure what the overall best/worst setups are but then again neither does treehugging electro hybrid driving frappe sipping fad hoppers.
Oh yeah, I like backlit keyboards now.

I just got this keyboard and its pretty awesome! It already came charged at 100% so I should be good for many days to come!
It's quite smaller than my Saitek Cyborg keyboard so it is quite hard to used to to keys but I like it already. There are also Media keys to change song/volume/calculator/shut down PC
Just like others pointed out..this keyboard charges of any light that means monitor/lights in the room/sun
btw rebate only applies to amazon.com..regardless this is very good price for a keyboard
I paid 80$ for Saitek Cyborg but I prefer this one already!
I would even probably buy it at full price ;]

To the ppl worried about never seeing the sun, living in darkness, etc... have u never used a solar-powered calculator either? Those things need very minimal light (any light) to operate. Same concept with this keyboard.
This keyboard is way cool. It's on my wishlist. I'm still holding out for a better deal since I already have a working keyboard. I'm confident that there will be a better deal for this since the AR price is alright.
EDIT: This keyboard is currently on sale at Staples for $59.99. Let's all ask Amazon to price match it and if they do it, than this'll be a slicker deal.

It is UNBELIEVABLE that so many ppl post to bash it just because they "think" this keyboard only works in the sun.
Couldn't ppl just click the product link and spend one minute in reading it?

too bad, most of the time i keep my keyboard on top of the "keyboard slot" underneath the desk, which i hardly ever slide it out, so it pretty much stays in the dark, since i don't look at the keyboard to type, n i don't like to put the keyboard on the desk
so i don't think my keyboard is going to catch enough light to charge it...
good for others though
love the idea, just not going to work for me...
