Official Giant Food (DC, DE, MD, VA) Deals Thread

Welcome to the NEW Official Giant Food (DC, DE, MD, VA) Deals thread! :)

This thread is for the Giant Food stores located in Washington DC, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. For those in PA, WV, along the I-81 corridor (around Winchester to Waynesboro) in VA, and Hagerstown/Eldersburg, MD please check out the Giant of Carlisle PA based chain's SD thread, Official GiantPA (PA, MD, VA, and WV) Thread.

I'm a man with limited time and will do what I can to keep this thread going the best way I know how. I can't do it alone so... If ANYONE has an interest in helping to post flyer/coupon matchups (or even just one or the other) or just sweeping the posts for other matchups, sales, coupons, or catalina deals to copy to the Wiki with credits given to the posters, PLEASE let me know. You will be aptly recognized (repped) for your assistance.

I know we are going through some growing pains now that we have our own Giant thread. Let's work together to make this one of the top threads on SD!

Thanks,
Kevin

Anyone used doublers yet? I saw where some people said they had system updates...so wondering if they fixed them to only be used after coupon or after card scan... I want to buy 4 gillette shave gels $12 minus 4 dollar doublers, minus 4 $1 MFC's...and then scan card = free + tax!

Doublers working fine so far...Have a great weekend!

The PSP of Webers Grill spray (like PAM for the grill) is $3.59, they are on sale for $2.50. There is a tearpad on the display for .50 which doubled. I used the doubler Q's and paid .50 per can. They are pretty big sized cans. I'm going to give 2 cans to my grilllin' neighbors. Their food always smells so good, I thought I'd encourage them to BBQ more often, since they always pass me a big plate of food over the fence :)

graybay 07-02-2010 09:55 PM

doublers working beautifully as per usual!

there are stonyfield farms/oikos coupons that begin with "5" at CS. makes for free oikos w/doublers!

Thanks! All three large supermarkets around here, SoCal accept Wag RRs. I don't really wag, unless there is MM, RA has taken most of my time nowadays... I just had a funny (though my Thursday night giant cashier is going to hate for a little while :( and boy can she hold a grudge) experience. I went for soda and strawberries and the store was out of soda. I wanted to use a $5 cat so I needed a cheap filler I decided to pick up 2 the dole salads with the save $2 instantly (I had forgotten that the $2 doesn't come off instantly unless you also buy salad dressings). I'm checking out and the $2 doesn't come off I point this out to the purple shirt ring me up (from what I can tell purple shirts are higher than yellow shirts but not as high as white oxford shirts). The ad it states "save $2 instantly when you buy any 2 dole salad bends") it does not say that you need to buy 2 kraft salad dressing as well. The yellow shirt from the next check out stands yells over than the sign say different (um when did she get involved and decided to scream this instead of helping the other 6 people in her line). The purple shirt runs to get the sign to show me I'm wrong as I'm calling after her that the signs are down (which they are it's 10:30 on Thursday night). While she was gone I pulled out the ad read it again and have it open when she gets back. She comes back with the wrong sales tad for the more expensive salads that are on sale next week. She hands me the wrong sales tag as I hand her the ad. I tell her to take the salads off. She looks at the ad and states it says like she's reading it word for word (she isn't see what I quoted above) it says save $2 when you buy 2 doles products it's next to the salad dressing so you have to buy both of these two products if you only had to buy one it would say this. The women behind me who I pegged at about 60 looks at the purple shirt and says "You do realized that these is the plural of this and that if she has to purchase more that one item these is the correct word?" It took everything it me not to burst into laughter when she said this and at the look she gave the purple shift. I just told the cashier take the salad off (did I mention I asked her to like 3 minutes before) and she had already scanned my $5 cat and gave me $1.06 back in cash. Part of me wants to write to cs because no way should I be yelled at by another cashier who isn't checking me out but frankly I don't really care and I'm lazy.

Slight annoying part is as I'm getting me rc for soda and I was asking for one for the Lean cuisine entree. I told her which one they were out off and she says she has to check that before she can write me the rain check. I told her to forget IMO this trip had already taken to long and I was tired.

I shop mostly at Giant but occasionally there are good deals at Safeway and rarely at Shoppers. Harris Teeter and Bloom do super doubles events on a regular basis. I also used to go to some ethnic supermarkets for cheap fruits and vegetables.
From Giant's coupon policy: "Giant will accept competitor's coupons provided the customer has met the purchase requirements as stated on the face of the coupon." I am not sure about RR though.

Haven't been at wags since Black Friday, so my info might be outdated:
One of the Giants in my area accepts Wag RR, others don't ( from my experience - what store is considered competitors depends on the store manager's opinion, so usually no problem w/Safeway qs, some stores don't accept Bloom, HT & Shoppers store coupons)Harris Teeter used to accept RR too.
I also shop @ safeway & HT - both have a good deals from time to time
Bloom has one day super double event the first day of the month for the last several month - so I go there once a month

In addition to the others mentioned above, Shoppers Food Warehouse has a good prescription GC promo going for a couple of months in case you need to fill any while you're in the area. I don't normally shop there but my DH and I went in yesterday and got $100 in store GCs for filling six prescriptions.

It's in the most recent store ad (and is good through July 27th). Bring in a new or transferred prescription and get a $50 GC. The ad also says you can get a $10 GC with every fill (up to 5 fills) but DH called the pharmacy and was told it didn't have to be refills so he just filled the six that he had all at once. Couldn't be easier and we immediately went through a grabbed a bunch of fresh produce which was a bit cheaper than at Giant.

schatzle 05-20-2011 10:56 AM

Giant has the Bailey's creamers for $1.50 again, so .50 after the $1.00 off coupon (found in Blinkie machine a while ago or out of a coupon insert. HTH

$50???!!! :faint: I think I feel sick. Might need to get a few Rx's from my doc!

No, seriously, I looked at the ads online, both the weekly ad and what they call the "in store" ad and there was no mention in either. I think their new ad just started yesterday. Crap, do you think I missed it? :(

I found this [shoppersfood.com]. It's the Crofton, MD ad. It says "select" pharmacies.

DH is all over MD for work. He will just have to stop in and do some transferring!

ETA: Since Giant honor competitor's Q's, it wouldn't hurt to print out the ad and see if their pharmacy would match it. They don't have to know it came from MD. Worse they can say is no.

GeraldFord 05-20-2011 11:55 AM

Good to know! I know they used to, didn't know if they still did. I need to get back into RA.

FYI, CVS only honors competitor Rx GC Q's up to $25. Every store has told me that. Corporate, too. Safeway used to put out those $30 ones all the time, and they were only worth $25 at CVS.

likeavision 05-20-2011 12:38 PM

Sorry you guys didn't get it in your ad. The promotion started April 28th (but I almost never look at the flyer that comes in the mail so I missed it until the other day). I'm in AA County so it may just be for the area stores and Baltimore. It may be worth a call to your local Shoppers to see if they'll match it (or a weekend drive to picturesque Annapolis for crab cakes and some GCs).;)

P.S. I have a couple of extra copies of the ad in case anyone needs it to bring in to another store for a match.

GeraldFord 05-20-2011 12:51 PM

Thanks! I'll just print it off the website and bring it to RA. A $50 RA GC should last me until GeraldFordJr is in college haha

Yes, but you don't actually need it if you're filling a prescription at Shoppers (the ad says to bring it in but there's no coupon, just info about the offer on a flap on the front page of the flyer).

I have that coupon, and I get the Post, as well as the cheapo county papers.

It's in the 4/17 SS. Was in the Post as well as the free papers. At first I was looking in the most recent SS and only saw a $.55/1 Edge and was thinking I didn't have it either.

The Schick hydro shave gel seems to be in very limited stock, at least in the stores near me. I was thinking about ordering coupons until I realized the stores have very few of this item. First store I went to had only 3 on the shelf, so I didn't do the deal. The second store had exactly 6 of them, so I added an Edge shave gel and used the .55/1 coupon. So unless you have lots of Giants to go to and not much competition (one person can clear the shelf doing this deal!), I would think twice before ordering. JM2C :)

I was very surprised to find plenty of the Hydrogels. But after I took my 7, I don't think there were 7 left. Maybe 5.

I added $2 worth of fillers and used a $5 CAT. The $10 CAT is a STORE Q! :drool2:

I found 7 at one, and 6 at another. Not sure how quickly they'll restock on these. I only have enough qs left to do one more deal, anyway.

Another deal, for today only - if you still have the .75/1 McCormick coupons, some of the grill mates bottles are 10/$10, so if you use SCO, a little bit of overage there. ;)

A weird thing about the cat - it wouldn't scan for nothing at the SCO, I think because it printed very faintly, but when I tried to input the numbers, it charged me 20.61 from the meat dept. :faint: And when the SCO attendant tried to input the numbers, same thing. So their way of fixing it was to suspend the transaction and pay at the register. Well, we all know what happens with that - no cats print. :shake: Thankfully, the store mgr happened to be standing there when I asked for my cat, and he just told the cs guy to give me a $10 gift card. :D Much happier with that anyway!!

Store q can be used a self check out (SCO). Some times on your next order (OYNO) cat coupons are coded 992 which means they are manufacturers coupons and although they can be used to be buy anything (except gc, tobacco, etc. ) they can't be scanned at SCO and SCO attendant can't override it. The manufacturers 992 q also need to attached to a single item so you need to purchase an item that is over than the value of the q for it to scan properly at the regular check out. If you don't have an item that cost more than the 992 mq it will beep. At my local store the cashier don't know how to handle them and need to call a supervisor for approval.

Yep, the easiest way for store employees to handle this is to cash you out at CS. If you don't have a single item in your order that equals the amount of your cat, it won't go through no matter how they try. And I don't make a practice of buying $10 items I don't need, just to be able to use the cat. :O

One word of caution about the $10 cat - make sure your subtotal is at least $10, or it won't scan.

Also, I didn't see this mentioned yet, if it was, forgive me. For the OM subs, at SCO, you have to input your card # before you scan your coupons, or it won't take the $3 off.

RamaLama posted a battery deal in the S&S thread here. Be sure to rep the OP. There are also $1/1 MQ's you can use on this in the 5/1 and 5/22 SS. Sale price is good at Giant, too. It's on page 9 of the ad, real deal.

Also, NO TAX ON BATTERIES IN VA MAY 25-31 due to hurricane preparedness week! :whee: See here [virginia.gov].

Cheap Dairy

Good deals on Breakstone's Zesty sour cream and Heluva dips this week. The Breakstone's are BOGO ($2.19) and have a $1.00 Kraft instant savings when you buy two. There are $1.00 IPs on FB. Heluva dips are $1.67. I had $.50 instant savings on my card and there's a $.50 IP (which reset for me recently). Two Breakstone's were $.19 (I only tried using one IP) and the Heluva was $.17.

Also had a problem with my scan-it offers. I purchased the Heluva and got the .50 scan-it savings. But didn't get the $.50 scan-it savings for Mission tortillas that I also see on my card. Is there some kind of weird one-scan-it-item limit per transaction. (This has happened twice now.)

Don't think so. It must be a glitch because I've gotten multiple scan-it offers during one transaction. The most recent was $1 on 4 maruchan and 50 cents off eggland's best eggs last week. Do you mention it to CS? They should be able to see that you didn't get it.

No, it just means you can still appreciate the little things in life. Of course, snagging the deal is the main challenge now. My store won't have anymore in stock until later in the week. So, I have to control myself until then, when hope returns.

24 oz. bottles of Propel are on sale at Giant this week 2/$1. There is a $1/2 MQ in the 2/13 SS. So 2 bottles FREE with each Q! Just got my 50 FREE bottles. :D Did not even come close to clearing the shelf.

$2.69 for the gel and $3.69 for the creme but the coupon is only for the gel. Edge was $2.69 and $2.99. Hydro is a better deal :)

bonadea 05-24-2011 08:41 PM

Found the hang tags on Nestea and Minute Maid Lemonade bottles: Free Minute Maid or Nestea 2-Liter, any variety, when you buy one watermelon (Exp 7/30/2011). This is a manufacture's coupon.

Nice. I'll look for that one today. Safeway has whole seedless watermelons on sale for $2.99 on 5/28/11.

Found .50/1 Lipton bottles hangtags at Safeway last night. These were on the new bottles. So excited, because I just LOVE the new passionfruit mango flavor. I grabbed a *few* and will probably go back and get more today.

Is it 6/22 or 6/2? I thought I saw 6/2, but now I am doubting myself.

Did my first OM sub deal -- YEAH!!

Also, 2 separate trannies with the Breakstone's flavored sour creams. Can't beat 19c for 2 sour creams (used the $1/1 IP on FB, just 1 per set of 2)! Hope they are good! :yummy:

Posters in S&S thread have said the new individual cups of "Cars" Easy Mac are part of the "buy 2 new Kraft products get $1 off instantly." Anyone try at Giant? I know the Cars kind is new, but I saw another new one, can't remember the name now, extreme cheese? or something? Wondering if that will work as well. DD likes these, but she will not be happy if I bring home Cars M&C! And, seriously, if they have a Cars one, why not a Princess one? Isn't that discrimination? :lmao:

Not a truly slick deal, but they are $10/10 and you get $1 off instantly wyb 2 (since it qualifies as a "new" Kraft product, like the flavored sour cream). So, comes to $1 for 2 or 50 cents each. Probably can only do 1 deal/tranny and likely any kind of store Q (including overage from other Q's, bag credits, etc.) will mess up the instant savings.

ocbeach2000 05-25-2011 01:00 PM

Cars cups

I did 6 cups and got the $1 off for the 3 sets so $3 off for the 6 cups. I've never had it work this way before.

bonadea 05-25-2011 02:14 PM

Free Vlasic Relish after IP.
The instant savings for the sour creme worked fine even with a reusable bag credit. The batteries deal worked fine too. Hawaiian Tropic Sun care is on sale for $7.13 (PSP $10.99), use $1 from SS 5/22, it should work for the $10 catalina, not as good as the Schick Hydro deal but if you have $5 catalinas to burn ...
Deal idea:
Buy 2 sun cares ($14.26) + 1 Hydro ($2) - $3.50 in coupons = $12.76 - (get $10 catalina) = final price $2.76 for all three. I am going to try it this evening.

If you still want to get Schick Hydro, get a rain check for 7.

Hey GF:wave: PM me your addy and I will send you some.

On another note, anyone having trouble getting rainchecks for the Schick shave gel? Two stores refused to give it to me since it is not advertised in the flyer and apparently they need the 'PLU' number to give out rainchecks and that is only in the ad

The store employees offered me one themselves. I had trouble getting rain checks for unadvertised items at HT.
The Breakstone instant savings did not come off for me at SCO, worked fine at a register. I did not use any in-store coupons. All the sour creme expires in a week or so!
The sunscreen deal worked out perfectly:
2 HT Shimmer SPF 40 2*$6.69 (PSP $9.99 each) + 2*$2 Skintimate (PSP$2.69) -$3.20 in coupons = $13.18 + received $10 catalina= $3.18 for all 4 items

By the way, which Sunscreen is better Hawaiian Tropic or Banana Boat? I've never used them before.

I bought 4 playtex tampoons +2 schick hydro and used 1.50 cpn for playtex and 75 cents for hydro. After $ 10 cat oop was 1.11.
In another transaction I bought 10 skintimate shave gels and 1 softsoap(hand wash) after using 55 cents cpn and $10 cat oop was $1 or 93 cents.

Are the hydrogels still on sale this week? I know the 25 get 10 is until 6/2. Found the answer 5/26.

In my store hydrogels were tagged 2 for $4. I didnt even think on checking the date on tag:shake::shake: only realized that they ringed up full price and I paid for them. I guess I will have to suck it up and pay attention in the store next time:confused: And no pasta for me, they dont have this kind in my store. Totally bummed today. If the tags are still up, even if the date on the tag has passed, then they have to honor that price. PLUS they must give you the first one free. That is their policy. I just had to contact CS about a store that wasn't offering me a free product when it rang up wrong, even though the sale tag was outdated. Store manager called me directly and apologized.

Hi there I'm pretty new here and don't have much wisdom to share yet..but I do have question about the awesome scrip deal I just saw....

Did anyone get a MD metro area Giant to match the Shoppers prescription GC offer? Can't really go to the bmore area and RA is not really our thing :(

Also, I have some to fill for myself and my son. Would this count as two customers and thus 2 x $50 GCs if I go on my own or do I need to get my hubby to come along and start our son's scrip?

TIA

GeraldFord 05-28-2011 08:49 AM

I don't think Giant will match it. Giant sucks at Rx offers. It's usually like fill an Rx, get a free salmon or something lame like that.

marishka 05-28-2011 09:39 AM

Stopped in Giant today and got my refund without any problem. I had 2 receipts with 2 hydrogels on each one. got 2 of them for free and the others for $2 each or free after cpns. Tags are still up tho... CSR could not figure out why it did not ring up the sale price... I did not wanted to be rude and pinpoint that that sale was last week. Once again great customer service!

Yeah I just confirmed in silver spring md ...I was told they only match safeway coupons. Ugh maybe I should ask safeway but I'm already exhausted for the day...I may just got to RA for my son's scrip now ...my supplements can wait until tomorrow.

Edit: RA in SS MD said they had to wait til Monday for approval from pharmacy manager who would have to call his manager or hq to confirm.

Safeway was ja no go but I was picking up some of those 2.99 watermelons :) and my sons antibiotic was $4 bux there which would've been better than giant right now.

I am tempted to drive to Severne MD tomorrow to just get the deal there ugh!

Any luck anyone?

i had the Baltimore Shoppers sales flier.

The Kraft Easy Mac $1 off didn't work for me but found another decent deal, don't recall seeing this in the ad but maybe I didn't look closely enough.

Buy 2 Chips Ahoy (on sale for $2.50 each) and get a free gallon of milk. Showed up as personal savings for $4.59 because I bought a gallon of chocolate milk. If you live near a Safeway, I found tearpads for save $1.50 wyb one pack of Chips Ahoy and one gallon of milk.

Did you get the Cars Easy Mac? If so, then I would say the Kraft IS is dead. I never did see any signs so I didn't know what the end date was.

I did not hear about this before, thanks! Was there signage in store because in my circular it says:

"Save $1 With the Purchase of a Gallon of Milk and Any 2 All Varieties, 8.5-15.25 oz pkg. Nabisco Chips Ahoy"

Definitely not as good as free milk. :sadwalk:

I've also seen $1/2 Chips Ahoy fudgee insides or whatever they're called  I think I found those at HT or Giant.

There is a $1.50 WYB Chips Ahoy and one of the newer fudge types, found @ Giant at a stand alone display of the Chips Ahoy.

I was afraid that was what happened, I remembered them too late to get in on the deal. I bought 4 packs of Cars in one transaction because I couldn't remember if it was 3 or 4 required for the deal. :O

No signs in store on either the milk cases or the cookie aisle. I don't recall seeing the tear pads on the Chips Ahoy display at this store (Stafford). I purchased 2 packs of the cookies with the red/white/blue candies on the tops. I was checking the receipt for the Kraft deal and read the $4.59 personal savings from Chips Ahoy. I'll definitely be stocking up on milk in the next few days.

Oh, so that's what that coupon was for! All I found on these displays at two of my Giants was the white backing left over after all the coupons were taken! I wish people wouldn't be so greedy .....taking entire tearpads is not cool! Darn EC show! (I know, I know....we can't blame the show for everything, but I need somebody/something to blame! :lmao: )

Do you have to buy a gallon of milk or discount will equal the price of any size of milk? Sorry if this is silly question but I am trying to get this deal straight for myself.

Buy 2 chips ahoy + milk
get $1 discount for buying all 3 items
Use $1.50 coupon
Pay $2.50 +tax for all

Is it right? or am i missing something?

I only tried it with gallon of milk. Says it will take off up to $4.59. My milk was $3.99 so $3.99 was deducted with each transaction..

 at the milk & cookies deal. I am waiting for the sun to set to get out and do my deals :lmao: I hate this weather.

For free milk do u need to have coupon ?

marishka 05-31-2011 12:48 PM

If you dont have Ronzoni's Garden Delight at your Giant you might want to check FoodLion. This week they are 5/$5 so free after coupon.

graybay 05-31-2011 10:05 PM

I went and tried the Chips ahoy deal at my store today. Did a few separate transactions and everything worked as SetSail advertised: Free milk wyb 2 Chips ahoy cookies :woot: I only had the $1/2 chips ahoy when you buy chips ahoy fudgees coupons, but it still worked out quite well at $4 for two pkgs and one gal of milk. I noticed that the stand alone display of Chips Ahoy had two torn spots. The crackerfuls display had empty cardboard, but it looked like whoever took the Chips Ahoy Qs was more overzealous... they ripped the whole thing off? Weird!

Watch out for milk dates. Most of the milk at my store was very short dated 6/3 6/5 and a few were already expired 5/30  Wish more stores would mark down milk rather than letting it go to waste on their shelves.

I noticed a deal today. Herr's chips are $2. There is a $1/1 Smartsource Q on the Herr's website. Not all stores seem to carry them and the ones that do have it on a random stand alone display at the end of an aisle, usually. I haven't found them in the chips aisle yet. I bought some ketchup chips :eat:

lol "quoting" myself... but wanted to say... the reeses and heath are part of it but the instant $1 off didn't come off. I had CS refund me for it. The milk came off automatically (I couldnt find any signs though :( )

Okay, wait.......now I'm confused.......I understand that you buy 2 Chips Ahoy and get free milk, but am I reading now that you also get an instant $1 off! So if I had no Q's at all, I would pay $4 total, is that right? ($5 for 2 cookies minus $1 off instantly)

Honestly, I think they messed up and made the milk free rather than taking off $1 for buying milk and two cookies. That's what they advertised in the flyer. I didn't think to ask CS to refund me because I figured I was getting a deal that was better than advertised :lmao: But if you have good cs then :dontknow:

Okay, I understand now. I agree with you. I would never ask CS for my $1 if I got free milk. Because my CS would study my receipt and see my free milk and then......I probably wouldn't get my $1. :shake:

Maybe if I weren't expecting the free milk, I would go to CS for my $1. But yeah, otherwise, I feel like it's not worth the extra scrutiny!

CouponingCraze 06-01-2011 10:44 AM

LOL... well i told CS about the $1 because it was in the flyer :D I also told them about the free milk (my giant is very nice, no scrutiny there)... so they refunded me my $1 times 2 transaction without them being mean or crazy about my deal. I mean if it wasn't in the ad, then yeah I wouldnt ask but it was there in the ad. KWIM :D

I did the same thing...but then I went to customer service and they refunded me the full price of the first one and then the rest gave me the sale price difference. Did it on the playtex tampons that didn't ring up on sale but were tagged too. Sweet deal.

My register didn't show any type of "personal savings" it just deducted the whole amount of the milk.

I agree with graybay, they just messed it up...instead of taking $1 off, it's just giving the milk for free. If you have the $1 q's all the better. Between the milk and the welch's juice for only $.50 and the nesquik's for only $.30 I have NO room left in my fridge for anything!!

Wish there was some way to buy the milk and pick it up later in the week...or month... when I need it :O No more room in the fridge!

Also wanted to point out that I found $1/2 Nabisco cookies from an old kraft booklet. It's a double 9 and it has the Giant logo on it. Expires 12/31/11. The only restrictions I noticed was a little bit higher oz requirement (9.6 I believe).

GeraldFord 06-01-2011 06:23 PM

My husband freaked out when he saw ll the milk. Sorry!

sabrant 06-01-2011 06:46 PM

I just purchased the 4 12-packs of coke and white chocolate chuck chips ahoy and the chewy gooey megafudge and a gallon of skim. I scanned by giant card last but the $5.96 personal saving didn't come up on the diet coke and either did the free milk. I went to cs to get the $1 for purchasing 2 chips ahoy & milk and personal saving for the soda. Not sure if I purchased the wrong chip ahoy but just an fyi.

Maybe there was just a general problem at the register since the Coke deal didn't work either? Or, did you have any Coke coupons? Maybe that overrode the savings deals for the milk and Coke if there were coupons for every item except the milk.

I did two transactions of Chips Ahoy and milk today and it worked on both. First was two packs of regular cookies plus one gallon of 2% milk. Second transaction was 2 packs of the chunky Chips Ahoy and one gallon of chocolate milk.

lpagel 06-01-2011 08:42 PM

Has anyone looked at the next ad yet?? I think there's an even better milk deal... $5 off WYB 7 items from a list... includes the Smart Balance Milk which is on sale for $2.50 - $1.50MQ - $.71 savings = $.29 for a 1/2 gallon of milk or $.58 for a gallon. :)

BTW, I'm going to buy some Oikos Yogurt with the milks to get to my 7 items. I love Greek Yogurt (lots of protein, no fat, and not too many calories). Oikos coupons can be printed from the Stonyfield Farms site.
$1.25 - $.50 (it's actually a $.50/2 MQ that will double... so buy in pairs) = $.75 - $.71 savings = $.04 each! :)

ETA I should have checked the ad first! We definitely did get the buy 7 save $5 deal. Wahoo! Eggland's best, sorrento ricotta, and a few other good things w/Qs out there are involved.

Also, I noticed the milk/cookies deal is advertised again next week but instead of Chips ahoy it's Oreos. Plus, not sure if it will work the same way next way, so tomorrow is another day full of Giant for me.

Did you all find the SUmmer Savings book in your stores? I did and the biggest surprise of all is that almost ALL of the Qs are MQs "5" !

Here is the list:

50 c off Giant Mustard store Q (Mustard is on sale 10 for $10 next week)
$1 of Fresh Fruit wyb 2 Post Cereals (works well w/ the $1/1 Post great grains blinkie found at Bloom)
$1/2 Tropicana Pure Premium 59 oz products
$1/2 Del Monte Fruit Cups, Fruit Chillers, or Canned Fruit
$1/5 Contadina products 12 oz or larger
$1/1 Smuckers Snack'n Waffles (on sale $2.09 next week, I believe)
$1/2 Sorrento products
$1/2 Sun maid 6 pk raisin or 6 pk cranberry (excludes yogurt & golden raisins)
$1/1 Dovebar multipack, ice cream, or miniatures
$1/2 WEber seasonings
$1/2 Final Touch, Ajax, Dynamo or Niagara Laundry Products
$1/1 Olive & Co 16.9 or 25 oz olive oil
$1/1 Barilla Pasta and one jar of Barilla Pasta Sauce
$1/2 Diamond Crystal Sea Salt
$1/1 Snickers fun size peanut butter squared
$1/3 maruchan yakisoba
$1/2 Gum oral care products "9" DND :(
$1/3 Pearls sliced ripe olives
$1/2 bags of Milo's kitchen 100% real dog treats
$1/2 milk bone healthy favorites dog snacks
$1/1 any kibbles n bits bistro meals dog food
$1/2 a&h clumping litter (good for RA this week?)
$1/1 50 load method laundry detergent
$1/1 Energizer Max 8 ct or larger
$2/1 Energizer Ultimate Lithium or Recharge brand batteries
$1/2 PLaytex Gloves
$1/1 Hefty Waste bags
$1/2 Newman's Own products

The only "9" is the GUM Q and mustard is a store Q. They all say Redeemable at GIant, S&S, Martin's and all-caps Giant  Most expire either 8/31 or 9/30.

Whenever I am doing two deals with instant savings and not buying anything else, I always split them into separate transactions. They never seem to work together. I don't know if that was the problem, but that's been my experience.

In your case, since the Coke didn't ring up as advertised, I think you should have gotten one of them for free.

Deal idea:
Buy 6 Oikos + 1 Milk (Use 3* $1/2 Organic Y +$1.50 SBM) = 6*$1.25 +$1.50= $10 - $5 (instant savings) - $4.50 (Q) = $0.50 for 7 items

Note: Stoneyfield Q is limit one per computer and prints in the middle of the page

I had other things in my order and only $1 q for one cookie. I'll try splitting them up or maybe just doing the smart balance milk next week. My family doesn't really need cookies.

It ends today but San Giorgio is still going on.

When it says 10 for 10, do I really have to buy 10 or can I buy 6 and still get the $1 price? The reason I ask is that some stores such as Giant Eagle will often have a "Must Buy X" statement.

10 for $10 is just a fancy way of saying $1 each, at least at Giant. Items will ring up $1 each no matter how many you buy.

Giant also have sometimes "Must Buy X" statement in their ads. I think I've seen it only for water in the past (must buy 3) or frozen vegetables (must buy 5), it is stated in the ad and it's not very common.

For the OM deal, when using SCO, I had to scan my card before scanning coupons, otherwise the $3 wouldn't come off. Perhaps that's what happened there? If you scanned your mq before your card, it may have precluded the savings.

Thanks! I'm going to try this out next week. Just an FYI...

Edited: I was NOT able to print 2 Stoneyfield Oikos Qs. ha ha ha - they got me. It printed a fake Q....and says "You have exceeded your household limit." wasted my ink!

Also, I noticed the milk/cookies deal is advertised again next week but instead of Chips ahoy it's Oreos. Plus, not sure if it will work the same way next way, so tomorrow is another day full of Giant for me.

Did you all find the SUmmer Savings book in your stores? I did and the biggest surprise of all is that almost ALL of the Qs are MQs "5" !

Here is the list:

50 c off Giant Mustard store Q (Mustard is on sale 10 for $10 next week)
$1 of Fresh Fruit wyb 2 Post Cereals (works well w/ the $1/1 Post great grains blinkie found at Bloom)
$1/2 Tropicana Pure Premium 59 oz products
$1/2 Del Monte Fruit Cups, Fruit Chillers, or Canned Fruit
$1/5 Contadina products 12 oz or larger
$1/1 Smuckers Snack'n Waffles (on sale $2.09 next week, I believe)
$1/2 Sorrento products
$1/2 Sun maid 6 pk raisin or 6 pk cranberry (excludes yogurt & golden raisins)
$1/1 Dovebar multipack, ice cream, or miniatures
$1/2 WEber seasonings
$1/2 Final Touch, Ajax, Dynamo or Niagara Laundry Products
$1/1 Olive & Co 16.9 or 25 oz olive oil
$1/1 Barilla Pasta and one jar of Barilla Pasta Sauce
$1/2 Diamond Crystal Sea Salt
$1/1 Snickers fun size peanut butter squared
$1/3 maruchan yakisoba
$1/2 Gum oral care products "9" DND :(
$1/3 Pearls sliced ripe olives
$1/2 bags of Milo's kitchen 100% real dog treats
$1/2 milk bone healthy favorites dog snacks
$1/1 any kibbles n bits bistro meals dog food
$1/2 a&h clumping litter (good for RA this week?)
$1/1 50 load method laundry detergent
$1/1 Energizer Max 8 ct or larger
$2/1 Energizer Ultimate Lithium or Recharge brand batteries
$1/2 PLaytex Gloves
$1/1 Hefty Waste bags
$1/2 Newman's Own products

The only "9" is the GUM Q and mustard is a store Q. They all say Redeemable at GIant, S&S, Martin's and all-caps Giant  Most expire either 8/31 or 9/30.

my question is, can you stack this Qs with a manufacturer Q since only redeemable at Giant? I havent been there as of yet to get this coupon book so I wanted to ask in advance if anyone knows

Nope, these are MQ's not store Q's, so no stacking.

where's 1.50MQ coupon?

I actually scrolled down on the coupon page and the Oikos coupon was on there twice... so I selected both and both printed. I hadn't printed an Oikos coupon from their site prob. since last year.... so maybe that's why I had it twice on there?? Both had an expiration 10 days away...

Saw that too, but I believe the Q is for Fiber waffles, 8 count, and what is on sale is 10 count packages. So it doesn't look like its the right Q for the sale product.

It should be included in the sale, if last time was any indication.

Hey we are all ladies aren't we ? ::eyelash: I know there used to be a few guys on here, but they've been MIA for a while.

Oh there's an ice cream deal tomorrow, too. But it's Buy $12 save $3 or $4 instantly :( So you'll have to go to CS to get credit for coupons.

StrawberryWine 06-02-2011 10:47 PM

Upcoming P&G has a $1 ANY Bounty napkin, expires 7/31.

The 100 pack of napkins is $1.19 everyday at Giant. Really good deal on paper napkins!

Armadillo 06-03-2011 04:32 AM

I did the 400 gas points deal this morning (needed meat & fish anyway) and it worked just fine. I had to ask about the large pack of Giant brand frozen burgers, since they were hidden in the stockroom. The dairy $5 off WYB 7 also worked like a charm, although they were very low on Smart Balance milk - I bought 2 of the 4 in stock.

It's Oreos this week instead of Chips Ahoy. But no one has yet reported whether it deducts the full price of the milk or just $1.

FYI... I did the dairy deal twice this morning at SCO. Both times I had trouble with the $5 not coming off or getting added back in (I was getting bag credits... so maybe that's what screwed it up:confused:). One time I solved it by adding something to my order. The 2nd time, that didn't even help, so I had to get my refund at CS.

BTW, you can get 5 12 packs of 7Up/Sunkist/A&W type sodas for $10 (so $2 each WYB 5). This is a buy price for us...

I don't buy much soda, but I need a few cans for a special occasion I'm having. I have 3 boxes from RA and I was thinking of getting a few pepsi this week. I've been storing them upstairs but I think it is probably too hot for that at this time of year. They lose fizz more quickly in heat, but do you have any idea how much they can handle I guess  I plan on using the soda in about a month so I know it will be hot. Maybe I should just look for some space in a cooler area.. easier said than done

BTW the deal at RA is buy 3 @ 10.98 get back $ 3 Ups so 3 for $8 but if you have any $3/$15 survey Qs and you throw in some of the freebies it will be much cheaper. The only catch is you have to buy all 3 at the same time to get the $3 Up.

Sorry I can't help... I have no idea how long they'd last. We only buy diet soda and my DH drinks soda like water... so it never lasts very long in our house anyway. That's why I'm always on the hunt for good soda deals.

Thanks for the RA info but I don't have a RA nearby and haven't shopped there since they switched to the Up program - got too confusing and didn't want another thing to figure out or keep track of!

Yeah you're not missing much these days, actually. I'm working on reducing my RA involvement due to a bunch of changes.

Thanks anyhow. The soda I already bought will have to do and in a new spot.

Did the Nestle Buy $12, Get $3 instant savings today, using two of the $1.00/2 from the 5/1 SS. Saw the $3 on the screen, then it disappeared after the coupons were scanned. I showed it to the cashier (who happens to be the manager), and he just gave me $3 cash on the order. The ad doesn't say "after discounts or coupons."

lpagel 06-04-2011 12:53 PM

So excited about all the new Qs in this weekends ad that will help with other items in the dairy deal. Now I need to figure out if Danimals stuff is on sale this week at Bloom (so free with SD) or it's cheaper at Giant with the dairy deal & MQ (so $.29 each). My boys LOVE the Danimals drinks.

Sry for the stupid question...but how do you get 7 of those danimals coupons...

Also I was able to clip 2 sets of coupons thanks to my MIL and noticed that each kind has the same exact barcode (mine vs MIL)...so can I still use them all in one transaction? If so I need to start asking friends and fam. To give me their unused coupon inserts ;)

Lastly, anyone try the oreos/milk $1 off actually being full milk price off like last week?

Gosh I really sound stupid...any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

You could buy 7 Sunday papers, ask family and friends, dumpster dive, or order them from one of the many clipping sites or e-bay. There are some free weekly papers that have the SS and RP inserts, but they don't always have all the Q's and this week they didn't have the Dannon ones.

Yes, all coupons for the same value and for the same product will have the same barcode. You can use multiples in your order as long as you're buying sufficient quantity of product.

I think someone reported in the S&S thread that the Oreos/milk deal only took off $1. But with the cheap SB milk this week, I haven't even tried.

HTH!

According to Giant's coupon policy, you can use 4 like coupons per transaction. Giants around here are generous and usually allow more like Qs but YMMV.

I didn't realize that. I thought that they would only double 4 like Q's. Didn't realize they would only accept 4 like Q's. Is that in their policy? 'Cause all I see is this:

Quote:

What is your policy for redeeming manufacturers' coupons?

Our policy for redeeming manufacturers' coupon is as follows:

Only 1 manufacturers' coupon may be redeemed per item; No substitutions are allowed.

The exact item stated on the coupon be must be purchased in order to redeem the coupon.

Coupons cannot be redeemed after the expiration date stated on the coupon. The total redemption value of the coupon may not exceed the retail value of the item purchased.

Any coupons for "free" products will be honored for the value of the item only. "Free" coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.

Act Media coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.

Product specific Checkout Coupons cannot be doubled or tripled.

Product specific Checkout Coupons cannot be used with any other manufacturers' coupons for the same item.

Non-product specific store Checkout Coupons can be used with another manufacturers' coupon. For example: a customer my use a coupon for "50¢ off any Produce item" and a manufacturers' coupon on the same item.

Are you thinking of "Giant of PA" maybe instead of Giant (the same one as Stop n Shop)? Some are often confused because of the same name. My Giant never limits "like" coupons...unless an anal cashier is scrutinizing those darn P&G q's

Yes. We froze over 30 lbs. of the free Sorrento mozzarella from the Giant deal during Passover season and it's all good (we shredded a lot of it in the food pro and also froze a few 1 lb. blocks). I used some of the previously frozen shredded moz on pizza tonight and it was great. If you're going to use it in baking it should not be a problem.

So . . . is there a good mozzarella deal? I'm always looking for more.

I have never seen a limit on likes in their policy. They are probably the only ones in our area that don't limit likes, at least in terms of grocery stores.

Sorrento deal isn't stellar but better than none. We use a lot of mozzarella too, so I'm thinking of combining some mozzarella with eggs or dannon to get 7 items. There's a $1/2 sorrento in the summer savings booklet at giant. If you still have $1/1 Sorrento from the 4/10 ss that is obviously better. But I used all mine.

Went with 3 danimals, 3 danoninos, and eggs...with coupons of course :D Although, these yogurts are tinny (my toddlers have been on the activia cases from costco for some time :P but the novelty of these "cute" things should work ...couldn't pass it for that price.

but unfortunately, White Oak Giant was totally out of the smart balance milk which we are actually low on :( and they had no clue when they were getting more :'(

anyone local knows where I can find some... I can do Silver Spring to Rockville MD area, or I can send hubby to those in Bethesda near his work (preggy, and two toddlers ...so can't go too far myself).

TIA!

Did you ask them when their truck day was ? That should be the day they restock. It seems like a lot of stores get trucks on the last day of a sale.

didn't think of that .. the person I asked was restocking that area and went in the back so I took his word for it...and tomorrow is the last day :(

Normally I am allowed to prepay for my stuff. Ask the stores if then can do that. I pay during the sale week and pick items when they come in.

Get a raincheck! Seriously, have them write out that you want 7 milks at $2.50 each and you save $5 instantly. If they can't handle that, ask for a manager. Then cut out that part of the ad and keep it with your RC. The milk is actually on sale for $2.50 until near the end of June (6/28 or something), but you want to make sure you get your $5 off. I got a couple of RC's so I can get cheap milk in the future. And it seems there are always MQ's out for SB milk! You should not miss the deal just because they are out of stock. It is actually illegal in some states to advertise a deal and then have none when the consumer gets there and not offer either a substitution or a RC. Unless the ad states "limited quantities." So stand up for your consumer rights!

Have you ever had success getting your stores to write rainchecks for instant saving deals. My store tells me no just a raincheck for the sale price.

I actually tried that and the CS rep asked another person next to her there...and they said only RC for the milk. That Giant's pharmacy had already gotten the best of me, so I didn't argue anymore in that store ...top it off, the boys were kicking up a storm (even after having gotten a danimals drinkable yogurt from the fresh dairy deal). I'll check again tomorrow and will give it a serious try if they are out again... I've got to go back to the stupid pharmacy anyway for a pick-up. tx

Yep, twice already. They were out twice, so I got two RC's. It's simple, really. I see the ad, I go in expecting to get 7 milks for $12.50 (not including Q's here), but I can't get that because they are OOS. So, they have lured me into their store with a killer deal, but I can't get that killer deal. That's against consumer protection laws in the state of VA. Unless they have stated "limited quantities" or "while supplies last" or "no rainchecks" they must offer me a RC or substitution. Because otherwise they have wasted my time with what amounts to a little better than false advertising. (Notce how Target always states "no raincheck" on their GC deals.)

If this were legal, every store could advertise 1c milk! They would order exactly 1 case. People would flock to their store, but they would be out and they would say they couldn't give RC's. Some of these people would buy other things. So the store gets all this extra traffic and sales! But it's unfair to dangle unreachable carrots out there to consumers. That's why it's illegal. With a RC, they will have to honor that price at some point in the future.

An instant savings deal is just a fancy way of saying "sale."

ETA: If the ad states "limited quantities" or "no rainchecks" then the consumer is advised ahead of time that he may be wasting his time because the store may be out and he will not get a raincheck. So he can decide if he wants to make the trip or not.

Ask for a manager. I would dare a manager to say no. If they did, I would flat-out tell them it's against VA's consumer protection laws. They will make it right. If not, call CS.

Got the ad, guess what's back! The card deal, EXCEPT it EXCLUDES the $.99 cards. I guess they caught on after the last round. Also, you get $5 instantly rather than a cat for your next purchase.

It excluded .99 cards last time also. Computer glitch or something. Hopefully, .99 cards will work this time also.

Okay, just found this for Montgomery County in MD here:
http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov...ements.asp

"If a store does not have the advertised item, ask the store manager for a rain check. They are not required to do so, but most reputable stores will issue a rain check. "

Well, since they Giant does rainchecks...then we are good to go here.

"Under Montgomery County law, a merchant is required to have enough of an advertised item to meet reasonably expected public demand. Of course, sometimes demand can be unexpectedly high, and an item will sell out very quickly. If only limited quantities are available, the ad should state the limitation."

and I don't seem to see "limited quantities" in the add.

fyi ..for MoCo, you can even look up the number of complaints filled for a store and what outcome it had. http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov...lookup.asp

oh and another thing the CS said... "just buy other items from the list"... I said I only wanted milk, although I wish I had more Q's but I think as a newb I did okay finding 4 (although I lost one :'( ).

Actually the ad did not specifically exclude $.99 cards. However, Safeway was running the same promo and their ad did exclude $.99 cards and gift enclosures. Anyone willing to be a guinea pig?

Sorry, what I meant was that they double 4 identical coupons, according to their coupon policy . It's not enforced by the register but might be by your cashier, never happened to me but I won't be surprised if they will enforce it some day. My coupon friendly HT tried to limit me to 2 IPs total per day (I had 11 different IPs) during the last triples event.

From their coupon policy:
"You may double a maximum of 4 identical manufacturers' coupons. For example: if a customer purchased five boxes of Cheerios and presented 5 manufacturers' coupons for 50¢, the first four coupons would be doubled to $1. The fifth coupon would only be redeemed for 50¢.

Up to an additional 12 identical manufacturers' coupons/items will be redeemed at face value for a total of 16 identical manufacturers' coupons."
