Survey Company Discussion & Review Thread

Survey Company Discussion & Review Thread

Hello survey lovers! Here is a thread just for you, to discuss various survey companies. The good, the bad and the ugly! Got a rant about a particular company? Here is your chance to vent. By the same token, got nothing but love for your favorite company? Share it with your fellow SD'ers!

The point of this thread is to help educate our fellow survey takers, both old and new, as to which companies are the most reputable to work with. Please keep in mind, however, that what one person may love about a certain company, another person may not.

This is a thread about opinions, but please be fair and honest in your descriptions. No slandering, no referrals, and no discussion of product tests.

In addition, please keep in mind that there are certain companies that, for certain reasons, do not wish to be discussed on message boards. These companies are listed in the survey forum rules, and may be found here.
http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...8&t=929574
You may also reference these rules for other FAQ's.

In addition, it might be helpful to keep a running tally in the Wiki of various survey companies as they come up for discussion. We can work together as a team to do this! :)

Have fun!

To the best of my knowledge, yes. Unless you happen to win on one of thier sweepstakes or prizes, and then you can get another type of reward :)

dealturk 10-08-2009 09:23 PM

I just unsubscribed with consumerinput.com total bs site no incentive no pt. just you take stupid surveys.

Stupified 10-08-2009 10:51 PM

Testspin has gone to a point system. I noticed my emails saying points instead of dollars so I logged in and checked it out. 1000 points is worth $1 and you can trade in the points for merchandise at Redeemitnow. They still have amazon and paypal. The merchandise wants way too many points for what they are worth. I hope they change the surveys. I usually delete them but perhaps they may start sending some worth doing. I will stick with amazon certificates instead of the merchandise.

Just thought I would share my story here. ..
I know most everyone knows about Survey Spot, but I wanted to share my experience. I joined in March of 2009 and to date have earned $342. I consider them one of my best companies. I also found a Communispace that I'm a member of that pays $20 monthly Amazon's through SS, as well as a couple of focus groups that have paid direct. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the surveys to credit but mine always have.

www.surveyspot.com

Another company I like is Greenfield. I have made $161.50 with that company and have been with them since March 09 as well.

http://www.greenfieldonline.com/

I now have a full time job, so I don't get to spend as much time doing surveys as I did when I was laid off. I tell everyone you won't get rich, but you can make an extra buck or two online doing surveys. There are legit companies out there.
I knew nothing about surveys until I found this forum. The people and the info here has been an extremely valuable resource. I was laid off from a job I held for 16 years back in December, and was looking for anything I could find to make extra money while searching for a job. The friendships I've made, and the people who led me in the right direction will always hold a special place in my heart. This forum kept me from getting majorly depressed while searching for a job in this tough economy. Best of Luck to all of you. I know how tough it can be when you find yourself in a situation you didn't expect.

That's very true. No matter how bad the surveys get, at the end of the month you're still getting "something" or a product to test. I'm glad things worked out for you :)

What other University Sona System survey sites (alliteration ftw!) pay well? I only can use UCLA and Yale (even though the Yale one isn't Sona)...the others I've joined (MIT, BYU, Kent State) restrict the surveys to students who live close by. Any others?

Do you do the Stanford one?

polvoprismboy 10-20-2009 02:12 PM

No, they're closed to new applicants.

samplekgurl 10-22-2009 12:35 PM

I don't know what's up with OpinionSquare but I've gotten 2 errors for surveys from them recently that have the "DQ" requirements listed BEFORE I even take it. So you basically know if you're going to follow into the DQ category before you even take the darn thing. It's kinda funny AND discouraging

DealRegulator 10-24-2009 12:03 AM

Just signed up for slickdeal an hour ago and this thread caught my attention. Are there any survey sites out there that are just a complete wate of time and should be avoided?

potnoodlez 11-03-2009 01:04 PM

Has anyone heard of BIGresearch? I've been receiving surveys from them, but I don't recall signing up for them.

Has anyone ever tried SurveyHead.com...I just signed up and am trying it out. When I googled them, I got mixed reviews. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks :)

im on surveyhead and focusline . both are good companies in my opinion
i joined them both at the same time and have made over 100 $ on surveyhead since april and have made about 25 on focusline .im on over 130 survey sites and these are two of the easiest to make money with .they never ask you to do freebies either

GA_FREEBIE_LOVE 11-16-2009 09:30 AM

Anyone ever have problems with Lightspeed panel. I absolutely love them, but I tried signing in in and it said my email and stuff isnt right but I have been signing in for along time and know my info. I have sent them 2 emails and no replies as to what is going on. I have even tried to sign back up with them but dont know where to go to to fill out the info.

I just signed up with Greenfield a week ago. So far, the ONLY email links & surveys I get are rewarded as "sweepstake entry," not dollar amount.
Any suggestions/ advice?
How do I start taking surveys that compensate actual cash value?

Thanks & Happy Thanksgiving!

brcklyr111 11-25-2009 03:25 AM

i think it depends on your profile demographics and some luck too probably lol
i did 45 freebies before i got my first paying survey
ive only made about 30 dollars with them since mid april 09
others have done much better though
i really dont think there is anything special you can do to get paying surveys
just be patient is my only advice
and remember that you probably will not get rich or make a good living doing surveys

people like you are the reason why surveys don't pay like they did years ago!

if the survey companies know that suckers will work for free (or for a few bucks an hour), they'll continue to decrease the pay offered on their surveys.

surveyhead and focusline are ok for some random surveys that pay about $3 - $4 for 15 minutes of work, but most of the surveys they offer aren't much better than GF and SS. Sure, they pay for each survey, but $1 or $2 for 20-25 minutes of work is slave labor. The suckers who complete them are the reasons why survey companies can get away with offering so little pay now.

if you're registered with 130 survey companies, then surely you know which ones are the good ones and they offer a heck of a lot more compensation than surveyhead and focusline!

I've read a few of your posts stating this. My personal opinion of this is that you are discouraging people from taking surveys period. Your idea of what is a good paying survey may not be what other peoples idea is, regardless of the fact that you have been taking survey's for YEARS. The fact remains that you personally aren't going to change what survey companies pay. Times change....
I appreciate that your are trying to give good advice, but calling people who take these surveys for little money suckers isn't going to change anything. It just discourages people. You never know for sure if a survey is going to lead to something else or not. Just my .02 worth....

and Happy Thanksgiving. I started taking surveys because I was laid off last January. I appreciate the kind advice that I've received on this forum. I'm thankful to have found a good job, and my prayers are with all who are still looking.

I'd never discourage anybody from taking surveys altogether. It's a great hobby, which earns a little extra spending money. However, I certainly discourage people from doing them for free or slave wages (e.g., $1 for 20-minute survey), because the people doing these surveys are killing it for the rest of us!

While I agree that I personally can't change what survey companies are willing to pay, I can assure you that thousands of people united can (and have). Times may change, but the massive change that's occurred with survey-taking over the years is not typical. Since you just started this 9 months ago, you've seen very little of the change.

The first survey site that I joined was Pinecone. This was back in 2001 I think. At the time, Pinecone paid $5 for every screener, $5 for every follow-up, and $5 to return the product packaging in a pre-paid envelope (most products required this step). In the end, each PT was worth at least $10 and most were worth $15. Now, 8-9 years later, you're lucky to make $6 grand total on a Pinecone PT. Try comparing that pay DECREASE to the average salary increase over the past 8-9 years! And at least Pinecone still pays...this is becoming more and more of a rarity...sites like SS and GF have migrated to not paying AT ALL for 90% of their surveys and PTs.

Most of the other sites are exactly the same. Surveys (from all of the companies) used to last 15-20 minutes AT MOST and they averaged about 8-10 minutes. The shortest surveys paid about $3 - $5 and the longest ones (20 minutes) paid $8 to $10. Over time, surveys became more popular, so there were fewer opportunities to go around. The survey companies began to realize that people were still willing to take the survey, even if they paid a dollar less, so they lowered the pay. Then another dollar, and then another. They reached a point a couple of years ago where the pay was down to about $2 for the average survey, so they started making them longer and longer without raising the pay. This didn't stop the suckers (and yes, I consider them to be suckers) from completing the surveys. Eventually, the length of the surveys leveled out, so they started cutted pay again...this time, down to FREE for most surveys. Which brings us to where we are now...the average survey length is about 20 minutes now and the typical pay ranges from $0 to $1. And guess what? There are STILL suckers out there who will complete the surveys for free, hoping that it might lead to a PT that isn't there.

You've been doing this for 9 months now...how many PTs, focus groups, or big projects have you come up with in that time where the initial screener was longer than 15 minutes and it didn't tell you up front that there was the potential for something good at the end? I'm guessing your answer is zero, but let's assume that you actually found one or two this way. Was it really worth the hours upon hours spent completing surveys for FREE, just to get that little container or body wash from a random 25-minute free survey? The suckers have ruined it for all of us! FACT: 90% or more (probably a lot more) of PTs, FGs, BBs, etc. come from qualifiers that last 15 minutes or less...and MOST of them last 12 minutes or less. It's rare to see a 15-minute qualifier, but they do occasionally happen. Personally, in my 8-9 years of internet survey experience, I don't believe I've ever had a survey of more than 15 minutes lead to anything good, except in rare instances where they tell you UP FRONT that they are seeking out people to participate in a community or something like that.

Have you happened to notice that SS and GF now expect PT follow-up surveys to be completed for free too? That's a new low that they've just reached this year. Why did they make that change? They did it because they know there are enough suckers out there that they'll get the number of responses they need without paying.

There are still a few good companies out there, so I don't want to rag on all of them. Their opportunities are few and far between, but Johnson & Johnson deserves a plug. This is the only company I'm aware of which has not only not decreased it's pay rate over the past 5-6 years, but it's actually increased it. I can remember getting $15 per PT from them, but now they are all worth $20.

The rest of the companies have all let the market determine their rate of pay. Honestly, I can't say I blame them. Obviously, they're in it to make a profit and they're going to pay as little as the market is willing to accept. The blame doesn't lie with the survey companies...it lies with the suckers who are willing to complete their surveys without adequate compensation.

To answer your question, I have completed a few surveys that lead to something else whether it be a phone interview, BB, PT or whatever else that was longer than 15 minutes. Granted they may be few and far between, but if I choose to complete them its my right.
My only point is that not EVERYONE is into this to get rich. Some people actually enjoy taking surveys and helping make a difference with product development, testing products, etc.. I'm sure they don't appreciate being called "suckers".
I respect your years of experience, but I am entitled to my opinion and dwelling on what used to be will not change how things are today.

brcklyr111 11-27-2009 02:21 AM

i started in april 09 and have learned alot since then
i know that these companies are getting out of control with the payouts
i dont do many 1$ surveys anymore
i get 3 to 5 $ surveys from surveyhead all the time ,im cashing out once a month now
i ceratainly know there are some that pay better but they dont send surveys as often, thus i dont make as much money from them
i do this for extra income so i dont do the freebies anymore
i will not do the 1$ ones either unless they are under 5 minutes
gf ans ss are getting rtdiculous
clearvoice is getting to be just like them as well
it seems most of the "regular sites" are following the trend

in reference to : mahgobbi

point taken respectfully .i am self employed in the residential construction field ,and everybody and there brother is claiming to be a contractor these days.well, its driving the price down because most of these guys are willing to work for wages .the same thing is happening with surveys and all other business .its a cruel world out there

Caution: FocusPointe Dallas not paying out...
Hi everyone.
FocusPointe Dallas has undergone some changes in administration and are not paying out. I was told by the office the backup of payouts will take weeks. I am owed over $200.
Just wanted to give you a heads up.
Nothing suckier than taking time to do studies and then not getting paid in a timely fashion. Especially if you are counting on the income for the holidays!
So, if you are owed $$ by them, I suggest you call and if you are asked to do a survey by them, just know you may or may not get paid.

brcklyr111 12-03-2009 09:41 AM

thanks for the heads up!!

SOAPNETDIVA53 12-05-2009 11:35 PM

Thanks to you all for the surveys info as it helps me
& others on which ones pay or not. I have noticed that
GTM has alot of surveys for sweepstakes entries instead
of pts. Why did they change? I dont waste my time on those
surveys as my time is valuable & only do the pts & $$ surveys.
I also dont like when I am like 5 or 10 mins into the surveys & then
they tell me that I dont qualify for them. Wow that makes me mad
for wasting my time. What do you all think about those wasted surveys?;)

in my opinion ,they are all trying to save money.since the economy has been so bad ,people are trying to make a buck any way they can. so ,the member numbers have accelerated big time.more and more people are finding out that taking suveys is a way they can earn extra money, when i first started i did alot of freebies, thinking it would get me recognized as a loyal member, now i dont do the freebies hardly at all . i think GTM changed to the sweeps thing to save money.its common sense to me ,if they pay 5cents for a survey that fails and there are 50000 falied in a month thats 2500 dollars in payout .other companies are getting surveys done for nothing or for for next to nothing to save money in payouts.as long as people are willing to take them for little or nothing , the payouts will probably not change. some companies still pay decent or atleast a reasonable amount for your time ,but they are becoming fewer all the time.its sad but thats the way it is.so we will just have to pick and choose as it states in the terms section of most all the companies agrrements we sing when joining them

I believe it would be a safe assumption that many of us did the same when we started doing surveys unless one was fortunate enough to have the "A-Z Guide of Survey Taking". I admit that I signed up with every phoney out there when I started and all I did was spin my wheels in hopes of making a quick buck.

It was not until I stumbled upon this site that I learned the "do's and dont's" of how to make the most out of surveys. With time invested in this forum reading the threads, one can become knowledgeable with the form of 'art' of survey taking and can provide a nice secondary income.

With that said, I resent some of the posters here insulting our newbies as being suckers. They (WE) just didn't have the proper guidance going in.

I had this problem with signing in to Lightspeed quite some time ago and was then told they deactivated my account - didn't have multiple accounts in the household, always took time and answered honestly, so I don't know. But that's why I couldn't sign in to my account.

They sent you an email stating this?

Read the terms and conditions carefully. Some are fine but figure youll spend clost to $200 in the offers and they often require you to sign up 20 friends to do the same thing. They do work if you follow the terms and conditions to the letter. If you have done those trials other places then you will automatically DQ from the incentives. I did one where they sent you PS3 games for doing a couple of trials getting a $50 game for $3 isnt too shabby.

i will keep that in mind

I'm a member of Opinion Outpost,...and making about $10 a month. Not much, but who's going to throw away $120 at the end of the year! It's worth the few moments I put in it a week. They just got a new payout,....Amazon codes for every $5 you make!
I also do youdata.com. It's not really a survey, you just fill out your profile, and then receive ads based on that profile. Currently making about $1 a week. It gets paid out into a PayPal account every Friday. These reviews take LITERALLY 25 seconds a week! Being a stay at home mom, I'll take every extra penny I can!!

Tigergal 12-20-2009 12:29 AM

Hey , I remember that you data website It sounded like a really cool idea (getting paid to watch ads) I tried signing up for it but they would not let me since I don't have text message on my cell phone and I checked around none of my friends pay for text messages anymore!

Is there finally another way to join this site Sparkles?

I just signed up for this tonight and within one minute of finishing my profiles I made $2.76. Seems like a great site. Here's my question though...When the ads pop up, they say they are worth like $.10 or $.12, but then when I go to view them, they always change into $.05 each. Why is that?

mahgobbi 12-21-2009 12:47 AM

Ok, I figured it out on my own. You get $.05 each just to click the reveal button and then the balance of the amount is what you get if you "jump." I thought I wasn't getting anything unless I jumped. I figured it out because I got another one, worth $.20. I'm up to $2.96 and I just joined. This is pretty cool.

SweetTeainTN 12-22-2009 07:22 PM

Regarding YouData;.....I need some help. I have been doing this for months and all I ever make is 10 or 20 cents. What am I doing wrong? I click on reveal and then collect. HELP!

mahgobbi 12-23-2009 07:53 AM

Eh, I think they just give you a lot of front to get you in the door, and then NOTHING! I rang up $3.66 the other night when I signed up. They just kept coming.

Since then, NOTHING at all.

sllsave 12-28-2009 04:44 AM

Everything I saw on youdata says you have to have a cell phone w/text messaging to participate

I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I just had a question about e-rewards? I was checking my account today & it says that my membership ends tomorrow (Dec 31, 2009). Does that mean that all of my currency will expire if I don't spend it?

You have to use it within thirty days of your account expiration for the year or you will lose 75% of it.

Hello all
Just wanted to add to this discussion, I don't post often here but will put my two cents in on this matter. I have been doing survey's for about 2 years now in my spare time. I work a full time job and a part-time, (a couple of hours a week helping an independent investor at home and I still have some time to make money on survey's. Please don't get discouraged I belong to many survey groups and most have been very profitable and well worth my time. I will list what I belong to and give a rough estimate as to how much I have cashed out the ones that don't pay that well I will be more than happy to be honest and tell you so:
Allure experts: not much just a few freebies not really worth the time to me
Betasphere: can't remember doing much with them
Chooze: absolutely a waste of time
Clearvoice: member since 3/07 $100 amazon gift cards several product test
Epoll: member since 1/07 - $40 amazon gift cards
elite opinion: member since 4/08 - $40 amazon gift cards
flavor designers: useless
synovate global opinion panel: member since 3/07, 70000 pts redeemed $70.00 many product test and freebies, several focus groups that equaled $100.00 or more
Harris poll online:
bzzagent: many freebies, product trials, including Oralb flex toothbrush valued at 200.00, vtech pin for homework, (not as many offers as I use to get)
hotspex: just points but have traded them for mypoints rewards mainly gift cards
Toluna formerly my2cents: $192.00 checks for points member since 2007
onlinebeta.com: only one focus group after applying to at least 50 for keyboard and mouse, never got my payment, prize whatever for testing. Had to send it back.
Opinion outpost: used to be really good, got a lot of invites at first: 63.00 since 07 but then about 9 months ago they just stopped sending invites. You now have to remember to log in and check them which I never do.
saynation: this one is for my 17yo teen:he has cashed in about $150 in prizes and gift cards
weeklyreader uboost - teens: 30.00 in amazon gc
zoompanel: lots of prize redemptions, electric skillet, amazon gift cards, been real slow lately
surveyspot since 07 about $400.00 in checks many product test
pinecone, about $75.00 not that much for me from them
teeneyes : about 125.00
test spin: been good to me but now I hardly qualify for anything: 152.00 since 07
valued opinions about 75.00
Ipsos: about 100.00 in cash, some test
wrating: I really like because they pay you almost immediately 5.00 amazon gift cards at a time have done about 100.00 with them but just joined last year. It is like rating different companies comparing against another
sorry so long there are a couple others I have done three market research studies one was450.00 it was a video one, two for like 200.00 and one for 20/20 research that I had to come in for here in Memphis it was 150.00 on the spot. I have had several online research ones from the various companies that I have listed 25 -50 at a time where I log in and stay on for about two hours. It has come in handy.

Sparklesnmore 01-07-2010 06:09 AM

Maybe profile update??? Sometimes, when I go to the front page it says "no ads" and then when I log in,....it has a couple. That's all I can help you with, sorry!

I still regularly receive emails from opinion outpost for invites.. Maybe they offered some new setting or option whether or not to receive emails :\ .

I just cashed out with them for over $300 right before Christmas (received the check yesterday) and I have already received/completed $35 worth of surveys from them. I receive their invites in clusters, I will go three days with nothing from them and then receive two or three 25 - 40 points surveys in a 12 hour period. I have also been getting a lot of PTs from them. Definitely check your settings and update your profiles.

My only major issue with OO would be OTX surveys. It has become beyond obvious that the aim of most of OTX's surveys is to collect as much info without confirming you completed the survey so they do not have to pay. I usually exit or DNQ on purpose because they are pretty fruitless but I received several that were quoted as being 10 minutes and worth 25 points so I went for it. All of them got about 5 minutes in and said I qualified for the rest of the survey and then another 15 minutes in (what happened to 10 minutes?!?) I got the typical wrap up questions then it abruptly tells me I DNQ and goes to the try again/no thanks screen.

sllsave 01-12-2010 05:20 AM

Sorry, I feel the need to vent.. I just did a 15-20 min survey for Valued Opinions. After watching about 6 or 7 advertisements and answering questions about those ads I got to the end of the survey where it said they had "reached our target number of completed interviews". Why the h*ll can't they tell you that before you waste your time.. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thanks, I ALMOST feel better now!

Doom878 01-13-2010 11:39 AM

I've done e-rewards.net for a year and just get points. Used them to redeem from 1800 Flowers who screwed up the order and some Blockbuster free game rentals that you can only use 3x (once a month for 3 mos). Looking for cash. Thanks for this.

brcklyr111 01-14-2010 03:07 AM

to klik .lets face it it only takes a moment of yor time to look at an email to see wether or not you want to take a survey .
atleast GTM posts the reward incentive in every invitation they send. its our decision to take it or move on .most people dont actually read the " terms" of joining when they join hi
hi, alot of people are bashing
these sites(myself included). they clearly state that there is no garantee that you will make money . the way i see it is ,if it 6 months to get enough points to cash out then 6 months from now i am that much nore ahead. as far as the amount being offered ,we now have sites only offering 30 and 50 cents per survey .i know ist sucks but its reality so the so those companies eventually will force other companies to bid lower on the survey contracts in order to keep competitive in the market.it sucks but that is the way bisiness goes .so the incentives are going to go down .i suppose anther way of looking at it could be that there are so many people that are out to take surveys for the "money" the companies might not feel they are getting true and honest input .so by lowering the incentives they will get rid of some people who dont care about the surveys and real opinions but only are ther to make income..myself i enjoy taking the surveys most of the time .i find them intresting and often fun.i feel that it is easy to get frustrated with these companies at times but i also try to keep in mind that i did sign the terms and agreement policy when i joined .

we can whine all we want .it probably wont change what these sites are going to offer or do for the most part . i dont do the sweeps or the 30 and 50 cent ones either but its about personal choice

More like they are satisfied paying peanuts to illiterate morons as to meet the quotas set by the clients they are conducting the research for as to retain most of the profit for themselves. Seriously, if you consistently reply to surveys in the manner in which you have replied here... it is no wonder survey companies are dropping their rate of pay.

i agree with you that its not fair to ask people to do these for basically free, but the fact still remains that are millions of people that have no income right now and they will do what ever it takes to get money .most will stop doing the cheapies once their financial situations improve.meanwhile the survey companies are taking advantage of it.
i dont beliieve anyone should do them for free but im not going to accuse them of being stupid if thats what they choose to do.after all we do still have some rights left

Facebook -- which survey companies are on facebook ?

Is there a list somewhere ? thanks !

Scampsters 01-23-2010 01:43 PM

I dont see the purpose or value in a grocery list of companies with no ratings or personal experience from respondents on their reliability, honesty, how quickly they respond to issues and in what form/ how quick they pay.

brcklyr111 03-04-2010 02:41 AM

.i think we all better get used to getting invalids and also DNQ's more often .ive noticed that in the last couple months many survey companies are getting much more strict on qualifying and demographics along with answering consistancies .they also have so many members now that they can be much more specific in the qualifying process.they are weeding out the people that are just slamming through the survey just to get paid .i hope they do just exactly that .yesterday i saw a post where a guy was bragging about getting gift certificates from a company using 15 differant addresses .that sort of thing will ruin the opportunities for the rest of us

Actually I was reading on another site about someone being a member of like 5 communispace groups. I swore you could only be a member of one.

I agree completely. People who do that ruin it for mindful survey takers and screw up what could be important data needed to help consumers. That is why I never urge people who post about being kicked from a company or whine about suddenly not qualifying for any surveys to stick with it, chances are they were coasting through surveys and were flagged.

This irritates me, the communispace policy.

I've gotten invitations from Turtle Wax, Heinz, TDI Ameritrade and now today Energizer and can't join these things because I already belong to a communispace forum.

Why have this policy? I probably know more about some of these company's industries than the one I'm in now. Wouldn't it make sense to allow people to join more than one?

The one I'm in now (won't mention) is more of people giving canned responses just so they can get their gift certificate and I guarantee you I have friends that would be a hell of a lot more helpful to them with their knowledge. Get people who really want to be there. I'd love to join some tech or automotive ones, but can't.

I have heard this as well they said it was easy to do. I asked them what happens if you get caught, their reply was there is always another one.

My Communispace also pays $15 monthly and sometimes more for special projects you are chosen for. :)

I am new to the whole survey thing, is it worth the time and effort? Looking for a little extra cash on the side, not sure where to start, there is so many different companies.

brcklyr111 03-09-2010 01:55 PM

you will make a few bucks and amazon gift cards but you will not get rich lol when first starting out you may not make a bunch or you might make out really well it depends on your demographics in your profiles as to what you may qualify for

You are correct about only being allowed to be a member of one communispace group. Sooner or later that person will get caught.

guyit 03-09-2010 06:39 PM

I've done well on the one that I joined a while back. I like the ones where the special award gift certificates (not the ones you get for regular participation) are based on something you did (like favorite photo) rather than being at random. On my site, I've estimated I've gotten close to $75 on those special ones alone.

Shame one can't sign up for more as I was reading the earlier comment, I'd have a lot to contribute on some of the other invites I've gotten, but in a way it gives other people more of a chance and also makes you focus on the group at hand.

if we all could join or participate in everything, then the quality of data might be comprimised due to the amount of extra work involved with some of the studies ,people would probably be speeding through things in order to keep up

True, sometimes you have more time than others (that's how I am) and I actually have limited the amount of survey companies I am with as a result, but some longer surveys I simply can't take because of the time involved (and I'm often tired) or the surveys are complicated (IT surveys are like that). I will say though that the more one pays, the more likely I am to take the survey, that's a given. I have a friend who is a physician who gets offered $300 or so, but won't take them because they take a long time to do (it says 30 minutes, but often winds up being 60) and he can make more money doing something else. In some ways I feel bad for these market research companies given the economy, but it's a supply/demand issue.

dmelendez 03-12-2010 04:03 PM

I haven't been doing surveys for that long, maybe a couple months. So far I haven't done too bad and like others if they only offer $1-$2 for 30 mins or more I don't do them. I have found that Mindfield does that a lot! I have gotten PT's from them that were nice though. My favorite ones are SurveySpot, I have made a little money and done several PT's in the 2 months I've been doing it. Some offer cash incentives at the end. I also like Opinion Outpost. I have been doing surveys for them maybe 2 weeks and have a little over $20 so far and a lot of their surveys are not too long in length. I also just signed up with zoompanel about a week ago and they send me survey opportunities daily so pts add up quickly for you to purchase different items. I have almost 500 and I believe you need at least 1000 to get something.

Thanks to SD I know which ones are credible!

Thats about 38 cents - Zoom panel is a heap of crap - Look at the prize list and then see how much they are actually worth and then divide that by how many points they are asking for that gift..

there are some really good ones out there on the other hand ,there are some really bad ones as well my advice to anyone would be READ THE TERMS AND AGREEMENT !! you will save yourself alot of greif by diong so.to many people see $$ and dont read the terms .most all the companies that you sign up with state in there terms that they can give you the boot at any time for any reason and not pay you any money or rewards.

zoompanel is ok,but like scampsters saiys the pay is very low, they sent out an email a month or so ago,and stated they will be adding gift certificates and other forms of rewards .
i hope they do .i have done some PT's and was paid 10$ by check for one of them .i got an optical mouse through the rewards and it was 2000 pts then after that i went online ans seen that i could buy one for 10$ from amazon so its all about the amount of time you are willing to invest .it does take alot of time

Working an hour at the crappiest minimum wage job would get you more than what any of these companies pay you for your time even the better ones.

Very True! i've learn over the years, that if it smells like poop then it's probably poop..lol!
Alot of people cant work for xx reasons, so even finding a crappy job that pays more wont solve that problem.
My advice, stick to what your comfortable with and the time your willing to spend on surveys.

JewBagel 03-24-2010 12:45 PM

I didn't want to start a new thread so I figured since this one is about all companies it would okay to post it here. My mom is doing a bladder leakage PT, I believe she said it came early last week but the paper included did not say which company it was from so she is not sure which survey company would be sending the followup. If anyone else has a clue, please PM me so I can giver her a HU and she can stop freaking out over not completing her pee-pee PT.

Cant remember

How many dollars is 5500 My view points

tapank 03-30-2010 12:31 PM

1400 points = $1
5500 points = $3.9

JewBagel 03-30-2010 12:32 PM

I don't think you can get anything with 5500 points. The lowest points GC they have is $15 for 21000 points and that is for merchandise from Busted Tees, the lowest points "cash" option is prepaid $25 Visa GC for 35000 points.

angell48060 03-31-2010 01:32 PM

Hey everyone - have a question. I did a survey with Opinion Outpost a few days and qualified for a PT. Well today had an email from Mindfield that I went and did and it happens to be for the same PT. Will I get dq'd for signing up for both? I know they are from different survey companies, but the products are the same.

My survey notebook is MIA so I am lost as to which companies a handful of current and upcoming PTs are from. I was wondering if anyone else received a double baby wipe PT today/is expecting one and could PM me with the company it came from?

i recieved an invitation to join "cashback research" has anyone had any experiance with this company yet?
it looks like a referal sit but it also offers surveys
it appears they only pay 1$ per survey and they have a 10$ cashout
im not sure if io want to get involved

i see alot of new sites are popping up and im wondering how many of these are just copy cat referal sites

I am not familiar with them. I looked around a bit on their site
http://www.cashbackresearch.com/how.asp

and came across this in their FAQ's: Do I have to buy things?
You do NOT have to buy anything to participate in Cashback Research. We have surveys, free trials and other offers that will enable you to earn points without making a purchase. Of course, you may also wish to earn points with purchases or other offers, but it is not required.

More info:

Register with us at right and receive your free account.

Earn points from a wide variety of online activities such as free trials, games, books, travel and more. Track points in your account, with your survey earnings

Redeem points from up to 25 different gift cards that you receive via mail.

Redeem your daily survey cash earnings for gift cards or Verified PayPal cash.

How much will you earn?
Rewards vary from $1.00 up to $40 per offer, and we have hundreds of ways to earn points. Besides the gift cards, you will also have the opportunity to earn free samples, entries in drawings and other freebies that cost you nothing. It's all organized neatly in our members area.

I don't think you have to do referrals to earn. It reminds me of Inbox Dollars, except payout is much lower.

I think im dumping Opiniosquare they are starting to make you do the complete survey and then telling you that quota is full. There are now very few that are worth doing. If after doing a long ass survey for $1 you then have to then fight with the Survey company to make sure the crappy points get credited with back and forth emails is it really worth it.

Fickle 06-02-2010 02:49 AM

I'm not thinking about it, I am dumping Opinionsquare. I haven't received jack squat from them in over a month.

Has anyone actually taken a PAYING survey from any of these? ( and did receive your incentive )

Chicago Center for Decision Research
DIISP
USC Marshall
Vanderbilt Kennedy Center

I'm trying to wean my University survey sites down to those that run "for pay" surveys/studies at least a couple times a year if not more, and not just lotteries. ( the only lottery ones I do regularly are Yale ). Also not asking if you took one from Study Response from any of these universities, just if you took them from the university's own panel. Not meaning to sound rude but I'm also much more interested in replies to this from those who have taken a paying survey from any of these listed above and can tell me an approximate "how long ago" it was ( and received the promised incentive ) and not just vague answers like "I think they do" or "Yes, they say they do offer paying ones" or "sometimes they do" as those answers aren't really very helpful as to my making a decision to remove myself from a panel. Also welcome replies from anyone who has been a member of any of these university panels listed above for at least a year and have not seen listed nor received an invite to a paying one as yet.

Thanks in advance.

USC Marshall: Been with them for over a year and get NADA.
Vanderbilt Kennedy Center: draws..nothing worth adding.
Chicago Center for Decision Research: mostly draws..well dont ever remember seeing a paying one.

JSinger,
The only one of these that I have had a paying survey for was Vanderbilt, this was about 12-14 months ago and was for my teen daughter. They paid about a month after she was finished, but it was pretty extensive for the $10 it paid. All the other universities have only offered me for lottery studies. CCDR are usually short but the odds are not very good. DIISP, I have never even had a lottery that I qualified for (Not to say they do not exist, I just have not had any). USCMarshall again none for me.

:thanks: very much and repped for your help.

That information will help me a lot and now I can get rid of those three. Even the Vanderbilt doesn't sound promising.

You're a peach!!

Hi, I'm considering trying out some of this survey stuff and compiled a few links to get started with (Opinion Place and Survey Say.) I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what are good beginner companies to start with, and how much on average can you get if you spend some time doing them? Thanks! :)

That is the point of this thread, read through it. As far as how much you can make... it all depends on the desirability of your demographics.

brcklyr111 06-20-2010 01:22 AM

you will not make a living or even close to a living but you can make a little extra and also get to try products along the way , its an enjoyable experiance , most of the time

Research. Read this thread, http://two-ribbons.blogspot.com has some good reviews, find others on your own. There is no "average" payout. You might think we're being "harsh" but trust me, we're not - laziness does not a good survey taker make, and bad survey takers mean less good sites for the rest of us.

I think you are being too harsh with a newbie survey taker. Asking a couple of very simple questions in a thread with the appropriate title in which to ask doesn't equate to "laziness" or "bad survey taker". It just means the person is asking for a little kind advice and suggestions. If you can't or won't help, or simply don't have the time to answer his/her questions, then wouldn't it be best to just not reply at all?

That person is not new; no matter what parts of SD they frequent, they should know by now to read first and then ask questions. She was not harsh in the least and you pooped all over your own argument in the second sentence. This thread is dedicated to which companies pay, how they pay and what people think of them... which is exactly why they should read over the answers already given. She also graciously directed them to another site that could answer their questions with less effort than going back a few pages in this thread and reading over replies. If they are too lazy or unwilling to put in that tiny bit of effort then they are obviously too lazy to properly read and respond to surveys in a truly mindful manner. Such behavior does screw things up for the rest of us.

I 100% gree,i see people asking questions all of the time about survey sites and the answers are right in front of them .all they have to do is READ and apply some effort by searching for answers

Any opinions about Advanced Opinions? I did a phone survey for them a month ago for $75 & haven't heard from them since, meaning no check or communication. This was my first experience with them. Most of the surveys or focus groups I've done will follow up afterward with info about payment. ???

has anyone noticed that alot of the companies are asking what other panels you belong to lately? i belong to a bunch of them like others and its frustrating that some companies seem to have a block on there surveys through other sites .the one that i notice more than any other is lightspeed.everytime i try to do a lightspeed survey on a differant site it automatically dnq"s .i used think that doing surveys for less was a "take it or leave it" thing and there are better paying ones available .but more and more i see the trend ,of other sites joining in on what lightspeed is doing i emailed lightspeed this morning and asked what the reason for this is . i will post their response here when i get one

ps : the other sites pay 2 or 3 times as much for the survey than the original site would pay surveys paying 75 cents for 20 min. are paying 2 to 4 dollars on other sites

I get Lightspeed through SS a lot and don't get an automatic DNQ but it's rare that I can actually complete one. I always assume I didn't get it through Lightspeed because I DNQ in the first place.

I never answer those questions about other panels. It's none of their business... my opinions aren't going to be "skewed"

I've been doing surveys once in a while on Survey Say Panel. I can't say how good it is compared to other sites since this is the only one I've tried and I'm new to it, but I'm up to $25.00, but have to wait a while for the "pending" surveys to clear. I dunno how that will go. I'm having a hard time searching for any other opinions on the site too through the search engine on here, oh well. Thanks to all those that helped me earlier, too bad some have to act like jerks though.

Seem's that's correct.

Dug up some info -> http://www.trustlink.org/Business...=205966805

They are also registered under the BBB with an A record with 0 complaints ever.

They are signed up as a market research survey services company, so my bet is 99% that's them.

enough $$ or points to cash out. I have been doing that yesterday
& today & noticed that some of them, I had enough points or $$ to
cash out so I did so since I need the $$ now more than ever. I am
checking all of them & some of them I havent been there in awhile so was surprised to see that. Just a tip!:)

samtruong200 08-16-2010 11:39 PM

Hey guys, I want to get into this whole survey thing, which sites do you recommend? Also, are there any tips for noobs like me?

Have fun!

I just got $11 in my Focus Forward regular survey acct, you have to have $20 to cash out now, it used to be $10, so I just thought I would post it here in case anyone else didnt know they raised it.

Does anyone hear from CVopinions.com (Carbon View) anymore? I have gotten their surveys through OO,valued opinions, ect but not through them any longer. I Updated my account a couple months ago and I am just 5 points from cashing out.

I am in the same boat. Quite close to cashing out, but no, I haven't heard from them in a long time.

catnine 08-25-2010 07:01 PM

Wow - last survey I did with CV Opinions was Sept 2009. Logged in today and still sitting on 13,500 pts with no surveys available.

I'm going to write to them.

I spoke to Rich with CV and he agreed to mail me a check for my balance. I got shorted $.50 but at least I got a check in about two weeks.

For those of you with outstanding points with CV Opinions, give them a call at 561-277-6144 and request your balance be sent.

Perhaps someone can ask Rich wth happened to the company? It used to be such a quality site.

Does anybody know anything about The Collaboratory? I received an email about a paying survey from them and don't remember signing up.

http://www.the-collaboratory.com

Any experience you may have had with them or pertinent information as to their legitimacy would be helpful. I did run a SD search but didn't come up with any thread that mentioned it. I don't want to get started with a company or site that isn't legitimate, doesn't pay out, or is just an old iffy site with a new name, so thought I would ask here.

Hope I put this in the right thread as I didn't want to clutter the board with a separate one. If it needs to be moved, mods please do so.

Thanks in advance.

Oh, Team Look-Look, huh? Okay, I'll pass, I guess, since I don't recall receiving anything from them in the way of incentives in the past.

:thanks: and repped.

Here's what I received today:

Hi Michael,

I apologize for the wait in your order. With the overwhelming request for Amazon Gift Cards our processing time has taken longer than expected. Let me assure you that your Amazon Gift Card has been ordered on September 14th and you can expect to receive it shortly.

Once again I apologize for the inconvenience.

Best Regards,

Hi I am new and am having a hard time figuring out best way to use this service. The help thread was not helpful nor is this thread as I cannot seem to get it to post by date. Jumps all over the place from one yr to another, why aren't the recent threads the first posts? Or am I doing something wrong?

If anyone wants to help please email me as I probably wont be able to find a response. LOL ;)

brcklyr111 09-27-2010 08:20 AM

whaen you want to see the most current respnses to a thread click on the thread and go to the last page the place to do that is up in the right hand corner just over the yellow part of the main page

hope this helps

Hi and welcome!

The most current discussions are typically on the first page or two of this forum, and older discussions are on the back pages. So called "master threads" may be several years old and include discussions that are out of date, which is why we don't encourage people to post all new info into such threads. If you don't want to look at master threads (for example, "Unofficial Survey Spot Thread") look for threads that ask specific questions that are posted out side of those threads. (for example, "I have a question about Survey Spot") All threads are dated. I hope this helps; feel free to PM me, or any mod, if you have questions. FAQ's for this forum are stickied at the top :)

The name of the product should not be mentioned on public forums - just a friendly reminder....

On 11/5 I received an email to partake in a quick poll. I click the link to log in to no avail then requested my password via my email address and it did not recognize my email. (although moments prior I received an email from them) :omg: Finally, I wrote them asking why I am not found and have not heard back yet.

I get $3 and $5 surveys all of the time, but rarely qualify. They are related to another one I belong to, but I can't remember the name of it, socratic maybe? Same scenario with them also

They are affiliated with Socratic forum. I have belonged to them for a couple of years, and in that time have cashed out twice, for $5.00 each time. On two other ocassions, I was chosen to participate in online discussions that paid via $25.00 Amazon GC's. So while the payments were few and far between, I would still say it is worthwhile to join :) Simple, painless.

Can anyone send me a link or message of a company that actually pays you for your survey, and have had positive experences.
I have done so many and have never received a thing. thank you all very much!

Toni3 11-09-2010 05:28 PM

^valid opinions. they're dont pay very much though. $1 or $3 here and there. Only got $3 form them once though.,.then again only been using them for about 6 weeks.

valued opinions has been good for about $20 a month for me .it sucks that they dont offer the visa anymore i take the amazon though wich is instant when you cash out

JustFenix 11-10-2010 09:19 AM

I just had to give Kudos to MyView. I liked them three weeks ago when I got my Virtual Visa in the 4 day time allotment but this morning I requested another cash out and this time, received the card info within probably 15 minutes.

It amazes me that all of these other companies insist that the virtual Visas are so problematic and yet MyView comes thru with them without hassle.

LOVE these guys!

Some people are meant to be ignore okiekat,

Anyway on the previous page I believe there are links to tons of surveys or go to surveypolice and see which ones are rated high.
Good Luck!

No, I wasn't. I did my own research.

Also, referrals are against the rules on SD.

What nasty bigot did they employ for YouGov..gosh. These questions/comments are so ignorant. Will most likely unsubscribe, their point system is garbage anyway
