I couldn't get the "Follow @Dropbox on Twitter" bonus to work but that was using Chrome. Works fine using IE. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, me either. Saw this today on lifehacker.

You use all the offers to get the total 768 I think I can't do the math right now
:)

Remxed 11-22-2010 07:23 AM

you can remove the messages and deauthorize dropbox from facebook/twitter afterward. You'll still retain your free space.

Chrome worked fine for me. Have adblock, flashblock, and browsing incognito. Not one issue doing all of the steps.

mcwilliams132 11-22-2010 07:25 AM

Why is this such a great deal when you can get 25gb free at SkyDrive.Live.com?

bubi73 11-22-2010 07:28 AM

Sweet!

bigj8705 11-22-2010 07:28 AM

Thanks, I never use Dropbox that often but I'm going to start using it again.. I really wish my friends would get on it.

This is awesome! Thanks OP, I have been hovering around 2.45GB for a long time now.

I have used 6 different other services and DB rocks them all.

Not bad at all. Took about 2 minutes to complete and got the 768 MB added to my account. Thanks and repped.

does not work from corporte network

i used to use this a lot and was by far the best tool; but off late all corporate networks have started to block this connection (non standard port) and thus became no longer useful for me. but if this works behind a corp firewall i will definitely return.

Works great. You can also get the skydrive explorer that integrates it on your windows desktop so you can use it like a regular drive. security, sharing, it's all there (by microsoft).

Can't beat 25gb for free.

Sweet I'll have to check that out. I want to find one my friends and I can use and install to share across the network. I just seems that no matter what upload speed always sucks.

For one theres no mobile app; that alone puts Dropbox on top; 50meg limit and the encrypted syncing; theres a lot more things that put it on top.

Skydrive is ONLY web based and is not portalbe unless you have a computer/laptop.

I trust DP with my files so giving them access to my fb and twitter which have no personal info about me except my name and who I'm dating is not bad. Plus you can always remove it right after.

Dropbox is encrypted, allows for larger file uploads and can be increased for free (buy purchasing or referrals)

In Dropbox there's no file size upload limit -

In SkyDrive there's a file size limit of 50mb -

Dropbox free 2gb account can be upgraded for free to 10gb via referrals and quests. Students can get up to 20gb free - https://www.dropbox.com/help/15

here's a write up via LifeHacker - it talks about a desktop app which can be used similar to dropbox: http://lifehacker.com/5101347/sky...b-of-space

Especially pay attention to the facebook one.

By agreeing, they can access all of your "data" (not specified)
As well as view all photos uploaded by you.
And post to your wall.

Henve why I use TRUECRYPT and store the container in my dropbox folder. I use a 2GB container fully encrypted with a combination of all 3 algorithms (Serpent, AES, Twofish). If someone really wanted to see that, they better have a few Cray Supercomputers laying around. :bounce::bounce::bounce:

4. Tell us why you love Dropbox
5. Tweet about Dropbox for more free space!

Dropbox security:
-All transmission of file data and metadata occurs over an encrypted channel (SSL).
-All files stored on Dropbox servers are encrypted (AES-256) and are inaccessible without your account password

thats what they say, but...

just like those online social media sites that claim to protect your private info, but they turn around and sell it behind your back.

True also. That's why I don't put any info besides my name on FB and no sensitive files on dropbox besides lecture ppts and notes.

There's value in any content generated by a user; just about everything can get tracked down. As mentioned before, your files better be encrypted or at minimum an archive with a pass... oh who am I kidding no one gives a shit about privacy under 30. Can't wait for the day this all comes back to haunt these people.

640mb Free Dropbox Space (without hassling your friends...)

I didn't see this anywhere, so I thought I'd contribute it...

Dropbox will provide an additional 640 MB of added Dropbox space by connecting your social networking account’s with Dropbox. For every completed action you get 128 MB of added space (you can choose what you're willing to do). I personally created a twitter account just to get 256mb.

Here are the steps:

1. Login to your Dropbox account and go to Dropbox.com/free [dropbox.com]

2. Chose any of the following and earn 128 MB of free storage space.

* Connect your Twitter account with Dropbox – 128 MB
* Connect your Facebook account with Dropbox – 128 MB
* Follow @Dropbox on Twitter – 128 MB
* Give some feedback why you love Dropbox – 128 MB
* Post the feedback message as a tweet to your Twitter profile – 128 MB

I love dropbox, but I can't believe we're jumping through hoops to try and get less than a CD worth of space.

I have 3.25 gig on my drop box for free. A cd holds what, 700 meg? The main point of dropbox is to share documents and small files with people and multiple computers and networks easily. Dropbox is great at what it does and with a great desktop framework for doing so.

Also... this deal has been around for months. Granted, I'm not sure I have seen it here.

Leonidas 03-29-2011 11:43 AM

Amazon just rained on Dropbox's parade with 5GB space

jstutman 03-29-2011 11:43 AM

Thanks OP.

It took me five seconds. (if your logged into facebook and twitter) it does not even make you leave the page.

Go to (https://www.facebook.com/settings...acy&ref=mb) and then click on the bottom left where it says "Edit your settings for using apps, games and websites." Find Dropbox, nuff said.

Two totally different services.
Dropbox is meant to share files. Amazon is just storage.

Dropbox -- 640mb free for New or Existing accounts (requires facebook + twitter)

Hi all, got the heads up on this from a friend. 640mb isn't much these days, but dropbox is the best cloud storage solution available, and it would take about 1.2 referrals to get this much free storage (your guess is as good as mine how to do a .2 referral). Just go to this link:

https://www.dropbox.com/free

You get 128mb for doing each of the following 5 things:

Connect your Twitter account with Dropbox
Follow @Dropbox on Twitter
Tweet about Dropbox (premade message)
Connect your Facebook account with Dropbox
Tell us why you love Dropbox (Write anything you want)

(BTW- If you don't already have a fake facebook/twitter account, you're not a real slickdealer. Just sayin')

**Edit: Apparently this has been around for a while, but I've been using drop box for at least 2 or 3 years and never noticed it, so I assume there's probably a lot of other folks like me out there...

wighty 01-29-2012 10:01 PM

These have all been available for a while right? They aren't a new promo?

TofuVic 01-29-2012 10:02 PM

Thanks I had done part of these offers in the past but a few of them (Twitter) were added since then so I just did them and increased my storage a little bit.

The free Dropbox account comes with 2GB of space that you can use for as long as you like.

Need more than 2GB of space? We offer Pro plans up to 100GB to meet all your sync and sharing needs.
I'm very confused.

Edit: Ah... So this nets you a little extra space. Gotcha.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I didn't know about this either and there's no huge advertisement on it from their site. I heart Dropbox.

BTW, what does having a fake facebook/twitter account have to do with being a "real slickdealer"?! One type of people who have fake accounts are sweepers (people who enter lots of sweepstakes). Slickdealers are about looking for deals, not entering sweeps.

AceNJ 01-30-2012 04:58 AM

I knew about these but it just motivated me to create a fake twitter account to get the space.

Wjk67 01-30-2012 05:09 AM

Get Insync instead, it uses Google storage and is 8x cheaper. $5/year for 20gb of space. Same thing as dropbox.

Dropbox seems more simplified and geared towards consumers. Personally, I roll with a free, 50GB box account. :)

yahoo could never get it right

Been using dropbox for years and never knew about this. Up to 4.6GB now with a free account. Thanks OP!

zefyx 01-30-2012 06:07 AM

Whoa, I can't believe I've missed this thread. Thanks the the poster abovue for bumping and thanks to the OP for the heads up. I'm trying my hardest to reach 20.00GB of Dropbox storage, then I'm calling it quits. I'm currently at 1.6% used (293.3MB of 18.38GB). P.S. I know I'm not using hardly anything atm, but that is because is just moved everything to my shiny new 64GB USB 3.0 drive. Dropbox is getting new duties!

shamanstar 01-30-2012 06:21 AM

if you have a WP you get 50gb @ skydrive, and its incorporated into the WP OS

anyway, I just did this, got a total of 2.88GB with the free 2GB, and the extra bonuses. Not bad, doubt I will ever us it though....what with having 50GB at skydrive.

anyway beats storing everything on my gmail acc

skydrive is awesome.
but I HATE the web intereface.

why don't they make it easy? smaller or no ads.

Yes. I love dropbox. It makes syncing files between computers so easy. Also if you sign up with a .edu account, your referrals give you 500MB instead of 250MB. I'm up to 5GB now.
