First posted here: Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce. A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register! This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date. Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates. Coupon use at Safeway Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website. Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa. Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening. Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that. Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly. Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon. Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned. Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does. And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. :) CATALINA MARKETING CONTACT INFO: If you face any problem while using or getting Catalina coupons (CATs), you can call or contact them. They are unlimited unless otherwise stated and are one-time use. Important Notes: Discounts a, b, and c may be stacked and may or may not result in overage. Paper MQs may be stacked with discounts a and c only. ELECTRONIC COUPONS • Shortcuts, Cellfire and other e-coupons can be stacked for use on one item (or more, as specified by the eQ, e.g. $1/2 or $1/4). eQs may also be combined with paper Qs. eQs are one time-use only and should come off your account within 24 hours of redemption (unless there's a glitch). Shortcuts – Register at www.shortcuts.com with your zipcode or one from the Wiki (see above), and update the profile with your Club Card info. Max number of offers that may be loaded to your card at any time is 75. To view all eQs loaded to your card at once: Click on the "My Coupons" tab >> click on the "Brand" label to sort the list into brand groups alphabetically and then click the "Print" icon on the page (not your browser icon). An preview list will open in a new tab or window rather than an output document. You can simply view and close the page, save to PDF or print to hardcopy. Cellfire – Register at www.cellfire.com using the same process as above. You may load as many offers as you wish. Click the "Print Shopping List" button to view a single page of all eQs loaded to your card, sorted by brand. Coupons.com – Register HERE [coupons.com]. Offers may differ from those at Cellfire and Shortcuts. Softcoin – Register HERE [softcoin.com]. Offers are somewhat different from Shortcuts, Cellfire and coupons.com. More details here. * Certain eQs are duplicated on both Shortcuts and Cellfire -- and that's a good thing! :D All eQs per like item should come off at once at checkout. Issues with E-Coupons Not Redeeming? File a dispute in the "contact us" section directly on each particular e-coupon site. You may need to scan your receipt and email it to the company. Please note that shortcuts.com does not have an automatic setup for card-refunding so you will NOT see SAFEWAY or affiliates listed as an optional store in the dispute form. You will need to submit generic contact comments with your store/card/receipt numbers and items and then shortcuts will send you a gift card for the amount you did not receive in e-coupons. Today is the last day to *buy* a snapple 6 pack for the Snapple mail-in rebate. You can post mark it later in the month, but has to be on the receipt by today, 7/7.
My receipt said 0.00 so I purchased a separate 6 pack at Target for the mail in rebate, but I think other's have reported their safeway receipt didn't look like that. |
I made a quick run to SW to get some popsicles to have at work(we are preparing for temps pushing 100 tomorrow). I brought not a single Q with me. I grabbed two packages of Popsicle brand treats. I had a $1 eQ come off my box of sugar-free creamsicles(orange and raspberry flavor). They were priced at $3. Not a great deal....but I wasn't looking for one. I just needed a cool treat!!

That is strange. I haven't had any problems with the O Organics q's. I have used 4, all of them on various items but so far they were all items that were over $1.00. The Q scanned as 0.00 but when I looked at the receipt, $1.00 was deducted off the item that I had purchased, on the line of that item instead of on the bottom where the coupons are usually located.
|
I used a $1.00 O Organics Q on a 50% off item...and I think it didn't work. Since then I've used it on the $1.00 tea bottles and $2.49 vegetable broth, in both cases it took the $1.00 straight off the price on the receipt, so $0.00 and $1.49, resp.

Anyone with the new ad:
Is there a Coke deal? I've been waiting for buy 2 get 3 free. We are out of pop, so I was thinking of getting this weeks deal (buy 2 get 2 free plus two chips) but I would rather have another Coke than chips. Thanks!! |

Today I visited a different Tom Thumb up the road from me and thought I would try the Barilla whole wheat pasta deal again. This time it worked. Then I was headed home which takes me right past the other Tom Thumb store which I was at yesterday where it didn't work, so I decided to stop in for more, thinking it was just a fluke or something. At the second store again it didn't work. No tags on the shelf, so not a lot I could do. I did show the $2oyno coupon I got from the other store, explaining what I should have received. She tried it at another register and again nothing. "The deal must have expired." she tells me and backs this up by asking a different lady who walked by who "knows these things". Uhhhh . . . did you miss the part about it just working for me ten minutes ago? Anyway, not one to argue here and can't really argue with stupid sometimes anyway, so I just had them refund my money and dropped it. Working: at Hurstview and Hwy 26 store in Bedford, Not working: at Harwood and Hwy 121 in Euless. |
FF double dip alive and well today.
Did the usual SW Select Party Entree and two Lean Cuisines. $15.77 before coupons. After in-ad, $5/$15 FF code, $5 OYNO Cat and one $1/2 Lean Cuisine MFG Cat, I had a .11 overage which I applied to the 4-pack of OS sparkling juice ($2 sale price ending today). Total was $0.59 + $5 OYNO. |
Does the $5 FF coupon code still work?

I dunno if it's just the GG frozen boxed vegetables but neither the $5/$15 FF NOR the $5 OYNO Cat took anything off after doing the .01 thing. I even bought 12 of them for a frozen total of $15.48. Since I didn't have a physical $5/$15 (I was using SCO as usual), I only got the $5 OYNO Cat pushed through. After I paid, no $5 OYNO printed and I verified the machine was working before starting. That's my report this morning and it was epic fail.

California Cheese Coupon
Appreciate the effort for whoever posted the California Cheese coupon above but it is not clear. The resolution is set too low. Cannot read the printing even when magnified. I would not expect the store to accept it and they may not get reimbursed even if they do.

Here's a crazy deal my mom did last week: She got three Open Nature pizzas, they were $4.99 and B2G1 free. That's ALL she got. She wanted to try the $5 FF Q on SWs regular prices. She went through self check, used the code (it worked) and then got the catalina! She also used ON coupons. :omg: I think if the code works, you should get the cat (you've reached SWs magical $15 mark). If the code it not working, abort mission, somethings messed up and you probably won't get the cat. |

5 Marie Calendars frozen meals each for $2.39 (before discount) $1.89 (wyb 8) 2 Green Giant Veggie each for $1.79 (before discount) $1.29 (wyb 8) Also had other non-frozen food items to get to 8 The pre-discount FF total should be over $15 but the $5 coupon did not came off after scanning. 2 other promo coupons from a grand re-opening booklet they mailed didn't work either even tho I was very careful to make sure I grabbed the correct items. Cashier was nice and pushed everything through. No problems with any manufacturer coupons used. I enjoy shopping at SW but their instore promos definitely have room for improvement. |
2x today at 2 diff. stores the $5 for frozen did not print. 1st store i used sco and the ff code worked, 2nd store the ff code just took off .01

Anybody notice anything strange/cool about the Safeway brand pasta? Regular price is $1.59, there are tags marked $.49..... but on my receipt it says "card savings $1.59".... so FREE! I used SCO and wasn't paying attention to what it was saying. Is the Safeway pasta part of the "buy 8" promo? We will be eating A LOT of pasta in the next few months (or years) if that is the case. I'm in SoCal.

Gas Card promo
I love the new gas card promo with 4x points for gift cards. I had to buy $250 worth of stuff from Amazon so I bought $250 gift cards which earned me 1000 points = $1.00 off per gallon which will save me about $16-18.

Marie Callendar's dinners are $1.89 WYB 8. You can print a $1/3 coupon here [mariecallendersmeals.com] so:
Buy 8 x $1.89 = $15.12 - $2 (2x$1 MQ) - $5/15 FF = $8.12 or $1.02 each. You can also buy 9 and use 3 MQ to get them for $1.01 each. HTH. |

My store had tags for B2G2 free Pepsi 12 pks. The .55 blinkies (Pepsi Max) work for the 12packs so used 2 and it took off 1.10 each. Approximately $10 for 4 Pepsi Max 12pks. Thought this was a decent deal if you like Pepsi Max. As previously noted the 2 liters are free with the blinkie. HTH

Has anyone with a JFU price for Barilla buy the Piccolini & Plus version? I was curious if it would double dip with promo.
Also, if anyone here has a JFU price for Bertolli sauce, it is part of the promo wyb 8. I also read on a blog that wyb 4, you get a $2.00 catalina back. The math goes like this for me: $1.88 JFU x4= $7.52 -$2.00 promo = $5.52 -4 x $.50 q from MDA booklet =$3.52 get back $2.00 cat =$1.52 for 4 jars! = $.38 each |

I just moved back and am wanting to get back into the SW deals! Excuse the question, but where is the 5/15 FF Q? I did this deal back in the spring, but back then the coupons were in the ad. I have never had any luck with JFU and eQs working! Hope it's a paper Q.

The good news is that it is a paper coupon, but the bad news is that it was available in the FF booklets that are difficult to find any more. They were all over my stores at some point, I sent dozens of envelopes with them to other people in this thread and just then they stopped being anywhere at my stores (still feeling bad about the people I promised to look for more for, and never found any after that :( ). Do ask at the CS desk, though, maybe your store still has some? If not, the code entered at SCO might be your only option :( Also, in March the coupon was in the weekly ad in the first and last week of the sale, so I'm still hoping they might put another one for the last week of September? |
Just tried a frozen deal in SCO. I got 9 GG frozen boxed veggies. I was $16.11 BEFORE the B8 discount and $12.11 after. The code didn't work, tried physical Q, wouldn't scan. Couldn't get it forced because total showed below $15, so aborted mission and didn't buy.
I'll try again tomorrow with an order over $15 after B8 discounts... |

Anybody buy the Yoplait smoothies and use the 5/15 FF q on them?
My stores double ALL qs up to .99, so my .75/1 smoothie qs are worth 1.50. Here is what I am thinking of buying. Think this will work? (4) Yoplait Smoothies @ 2.99 = 11.96 (1) Ben & Jerry's pint @ 3.49 for a Total of 15.45 Frozen food. Then add (2) Welch's Juice Cocktail @ 2.49 = 4.98 for a pre-q total 20.43 (1) Pepsi masx 2-liter less 5/15 $4 WYB 8 items $6( 4 yoplait .75 dbld) $1 B&J pint .50/1 dbld $3 Welch's IP .75/1 dbld 1.10 pepsi Max .55/1 dbld Total OOP 1.72 |

So I've read the last 4 pages...but what is the story of safeways now? I haven't been in the game since the glory days of multiple eq's paying for an entire trip...and savings of %101. What's the game plan? The wiki is still talking about eq's but I thought those were over with...I don't see any of the Cats in the wiki either...I have 2 one for hallmark when you buy 6 get 4onyo through 10/31 and post pebbles and treats...b2-3g1onyo b4-5g2onyo and b6ormoreg5onyo....thru 10/3 can't search the archive properly something is wonky.
It seemed like this time last year we were sailing through free cereal and fruit snacks...what are the trends this time around.... |
I somehow got the idea that Arrowhead sparkling water was part of "wyb8", but it was just marked 5/$5 on the shelf
so in case I'm not the only one, there you go went to non-SCO store so didn't try anything interesting. I hope the oz matched up-forgot to look & used to SCO where I have time to do that during trans. Quote:

You can usually find current CAT deals at couponnetwork.com -has distinct advantage of not having to know someone who got a printout and wondering if your region is included trends? hmph right now there's some SQs that are pretty good, and if you have SCO you can use the code on the Q & don't have to surrender physical Q SQ usually has UPC (0) 000000-XXXXX-(x) the red #s are the code you input, the same place you enter produce codes HTH |

Frozen food double dip worked for me yesterday at the Safeway in Lake Oswego, OR (the one by Bridgeport Village.) I actually wasn't expecting it to work, but still wanted to at least use the $5/$15 FF q I had. In case it is helpful, here is what I purchased:
(2) Lucerne Ice Cream Sandwich 12 packs - Sale price $3.77 ea =$7.54 Sfway Cheries $4.39 Open Nature Ice Cream sale price $4.49 Before Q's = $16.42 Less: $1 Lucerne Q $5 FF Q $4.49 Open Nature Q $5.93 OOP Received $5 Cat. Hope that helps someone. Perhaps, as someone mentioned, the cat is only still printing in certain area. |

If anyone got a raincheck for the Smucker's jam when it was 1.99 with q (limit 4) you might be able to get for free with the 1.50 qs. I got it Sat night and it was already tagged part of the buy 8 promo. It scanned current price--then scanned q--then I gave 4 1.50 printables--but also 50 cents was taken off each jar frpm the 1.99 price so ends up free. I'm assuming when they manually adjust to 1.99 the 50 cents will still be taken off with buy 8 deal cause it's done at the bottom of receipt.

Here is more for the buy8 promo deal:
Starbucks coffee 7.49-1.50 mfrq=5.99 when you buy 2 you get a code via checkout cat machine for a 5 dollar starbucks egiftcard. Most of the bags have a free cup of coffee coupon on them, which is I think valued at 1.50, so its like like paying 3.98 for 2 bags of Starbucks coffee. Open Nature sour cream is 1.49 so 49 cents after Open Nature coupon. Certain bags of Lucerne shredded cheese(such as medium cheddar, sharp cheddar and mozzorella have the Real california milk/cheese symbol and its 1.79 so after the mfrq its just 1.24, sometimes you get lucky and the checker will manually double the coupon for an even better price of 79 cents. |

Since they are 99¢ I'm really thinking they would beep and have no idea if they would push it through or not. I need to use my last two at the store without a self check out tomorrow morning when I buy my pizzas so I guess I will try it and hope I get a nice or at least uninterested cashier lol. |

My frozen items yesterday consisted of Michael Angelos meals, SS ice cream and ON ice cream, NO cat. I was over $15 after mix and match discounts. My mom got solely Michael Angelos meals and did get the $5 cat. Same store. |

Gatorade $1 coupons
Could anybody please let me know where they got the $1 Gatorade coupons from? I checked the manufacturer's unexpired compilation here on SD, but they aren't there. Were they printable?

Free Lucerne Creamery 6oz. ice cream.
Today my Lucerne 6oz rang up free. It is the one in the ad with the coupon that says 59 cents. I scanned all items before my card and then the coupons if that matters. It said regular price 1.29, card savings .30 and store coupon .99. So Free instead of 59 cents. |

I just bought one and other stuff that isn't part of any deal. I wanted to go back and try it again but I had to go. Also another surprise to me was that my Jimmy Dean's Biscuit sandwiches rang up for 4.99 when the sign said 5.99. |
