Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store!

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. :)

SAFEWAY SCAN ACCURACY POLICY: First posted here:

I asked for their scan accuracy policy and this is what they replied with:
Also, please find below our scanning accuracy policy at your local Safeway stores:

We guarantee the accuracy of our electronic checkout system. Safeway will give you the item free, if the price on your detailed receipt is different (higher or lower) than indicated in advertisements or shown on the shelf price tag. You will only receive one of the items for free with the remaining items at the correct price.

If the item is on sale and register rings up the regular price, the store will only pay the difference on the item. If a customer is overcharged on a Buy One Get One special, not only will they receive the free item, they will receive the overcharged item free as well. It is subjected to a limit of one.

This does not apply to liquor, tobacco, or fluid milk items. In these cases, you will get the item at the sale price instead of free.
Safeway policy on B1G1F Q usage:

"On Buy One, Get One Free ("BOGO") offers, customer must purchase the first iem to receive the second item free. BOGO offers are not 1/2 price sales. If only a single item purchased, the regular price applies. Manufacturer's coupons may be used on purchased items only -- not on free items."

COUPON SOURCES: (also see S'momma's post #1 above for more info)

JFU DISCOUNTS and COUPONS (Linked to Safeway Club Card)
1) Coupon Center discounts:
a. $X.XX (specific price given) These are the electronic version of the SW in-ad clippable coupons. They are unlimited unless otherwise stated and can be used only once (one-time use).
b. SAVE $X.XX These are manufacturer eCoupons good only on the number of items specified (usually 1) and are one-time use (just like paper MQs)
c. $X.XX OFF These are Safeway eCoupons good on all the specified items in your transaction, unless otherwise stated (i.e. Limit 1, Limit 2, etc.). These coupons are one-time use.

2) Personalized Deals discounts:
a. $X.XX (specific price given) or FREE. These are tailored to a JFU members account. They are unlimited unless otherwise stated and are one-time use.

Important Notes:
Discounts a, b, and c may be stacked and may or may not result in overage.
Paper MQs may be stacked with discounts a and c only.

ELECTRONIC COUPONS
• Shortcuts, Cellfire and other e-coupons can be stacked for use on one item (or more, as specified by the eQ, e.g. $1/2 or $1/4). eQs may also be combined with paper Qs. eQs are one time-use only and should come off your account within 24 hours of redemption (unless there's a glitch).

Shortcuts – Register at www.shortcuts.com with your zipcode or one from the Wiki (see above), and update the profile with your Club Card info. Max number of offers that may be loaded to your card at any time is 75. To view all eQs loaded to your card at once: Click on the "My Coupons" tab >> click on the "Brand" label to sort the list into brand groups alphabetically and then click the "Print" icon on the page (not your browser icon). An preview list will open in a new tab or window rather than an output document. You can simply view and close the page, save to PDF or print to hardcopy.

Cellfire – Register at www.cellfire.com using the same process as above. You may load as many offers as you wish. Click the "Print Shopping List" button to view a single page of all eQs loaded to your card, sorted by brand.

Coupons.com – Register HERE [coupons.com]. Offers may differ from those at Cellfire and Shortcuts.

Softcoin – Register HERE [softcoin.com]. Offers are somewhat different from Shortcuts, Cellfire and coupons.com. More details here.

* Certain eQs are duplicated on both Shortcuts and Cellfire -- and that's a good thing! :D All eQs per like item should come off at once at checkout.

Issues with E-Coupons Not Redeeming? File a dispute in the "contact us" section directly on each particular e-coupon site. You may need to scan your receipt and email it to the company. Please note that shortcuts.com does not have an automatic setup for card-refunding so you will NOT see SAFEWAY or affiliates listed as an optional store in the dispute form. You will need to submit generic contact comments with your store/card/receipt numbers and items and then shortcuts will send you a gift card for the amount you did not receive in e-coupons.

PAPER COUPONS
* Paper Qs may be combined with eQs in the same transaction. Check the following threads for paper Q possibilities:

CATALINA OFFERS:

amc2007 07-07-2010 02:04 PM

Today is the last day to *buy* a snapple 6 pack for the Snapple mail-in rebate. You can post mark it later in the month, but has to be on the receipt by today, 7/7.

My receipt said 0.00 so I purchased a separate 6 pack at Target for the mail in rebate, but I think other's have reported their safeway receipt didn't look like that.

fanCpants 07-07-2010 02:42 PM

I made a quick run to SW to get some popsicles to have at work(we are preparing for temps pushing 100 tomorrow). I brought not a single Q with me. I grabbed two packages of Popsicle brand treats. I had a $1 eQ come off my box of sugar-free creamsicles(orange and raspberry flavor). They were priced at $3. Not a great deal....but I wasn't looking for one. I just needed a cool treat!!

The dairy Q books were taken down from my store. Total bummer, because I had wanted to grab one and use the International Delight Q in there. And my store STILL does not have the grill books. They have signs advertising them, but no actual books. Very annoying.

PM your addy and I can send you a few Qs from both of the book.

I have failed to redeemed this O coupons several times till I recognized the problem. Look back at my receipts and none of them scanned in both 1 O-items and 2 O- items trannies. So far I have lost 4 O- Qs . Now I give this Q last and pay attention to the balance before and after cashier scan it. One time no way cashier could make it to work, so he just keyed in "$1 SQ". But yesterday, the Q did not work properly (it scanned but took only 1 cents off )at first and cashier tried and tried and tried, finally it took $1 off. Weird!

Hey qwert, welcome back. Wish I could share my baking stuffs with you. I am finding the way to unload my fridge.

amc2007 07-07-2010 04:15 PM

That is strange. I haven't had any problems with the O Organics q's. I have used 4, all of them on various items but so far they were all items that were over $1.00. The Q scanned as 0.00 but when I looked at the receipt, $1.00 was deducted off the item that I had purchased, on the line of that item instead of on the bottom where the coupons are usually located.

doltran 07-07-2010 04:18 PM

I used a $1.00 O Organics Q on a 50% off item...and I think it didn't work. Since then I've used it on the $1.00 tea bottles and $2.49 vegetable broth, in both cases it took the $1.00 straight off the price on the receipt, so $0.00 and $1.49, resp.

i used it on 50% off milk, and it worked no prob! I was shocked!

No fair, it worked on a 50% off item AND it was milk? Double win for you!

Is there a Coke deal? I've been waiting for buy 2 get 3 free. We are out of pop, so I was thinking of getting this weeks deal (buy 2 get 2 free plus two chips) but I would rather have another Coke than chips. Thanks!!

o is YMMV at safeway, and just about any other store around, please be above the board and use the qs as the wording states..

Thank you

Thanks for clarifying. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was suggesting using a q on a wrong product. I was just hoping for some overage to go towards some expensive items I was buying. But - lol - I got no overage either time since I was trying it out and it didn't work on either item. But I needed both items, so that's how life goes.

I'm replying to my own question  but I figured some things out so I thought I'd add to what I wrote yesterday.

Today I visited a different Tom Thumb up the road from me and thought I would try the Barilla whole wheat pasta deal again. This time it worked. Then I was headed home which takes me right past the other Tom Thumb store which I was at yesterday where it didn't work, so I decided to stop in for more, thinking it was just a fluke or something.

At the second store again it didn't work. No tags on the shelf, so not a lot I could do. I did show the $2oyno coupon I got from the other store, explaining what I should have received.

She tried it at another register and again nothing. "The deal must have expired." she tells me and backs this up by asking a different lady who walked by who "knows these things". Uhhhh . . . did you miss the part about it just working for me ten minutes ago?

Anyway, not one to argue here and can't really argue with stupid sometimes anyway, so I just had them refund my money and dropped it.

Working: at Hurstview and Hwy 26 store in Bedford,
Not working: at Harwood and Hwy 121 in Euless.

TJ665 09-20-2011 12:26 PM

FF double dip alive and well today.

Did the usual SW Select Party Entree and two Lean Cuisines. $15.77 before coupons. After in-ad, $5/$15 FF code, $5 OYNO Cat and one $1/2 Lean Cuisine MFG Cat, I had a .11 overage which I applied to the 4-pack of OS sparkling juice ($2 sale price ending today). Total was $0.59 + $5 OYNO.

saishap 09-20-2011 03:02 PM

Does the $5 FF coupon code still work?

not in my ad
3 day sale with pepsi/7up g2g2
and
coke 6pks part of wyb8 deal=2.75 after discount:rolleyes:

mostly for us that didn't have frozen deal this week so freezer's aren't stuffed:
Scan your Frozen food, with less than 8 items from the wyb8 list
scan 5/15
then your non-frozen wyb 8 items
ie:
GG box veg 1.79 ea x 4 =7.16

5.16 after wyb 8 discount, so scanning 5/15 b4 discount kicks in $2 more toward $15,

I believe this isn't necessary because the price before the qty discount will count, even if the $5/$15 is scanned after the qty discount is taken. This how my Freschetta pizza deal worked. It was $5.99, $4.99 WYB 3 or more. My frozen total was $14.97 and the $5/$15 was scanned after the qty discount but still took the $5 off.

Bitburger 09-20-2011 06:19 PM

why won't safeway update their system? a lot of the new coupons come with a new barcode and my store won't take them.

Does any one know if the coupon for 0.99 Cents Simply Orange is still around?

and lean cuisine 3.79 -1.80adQ
but
the LC must've been loaded to my card b/c the discount rang up as soon as scanned
which meant register showed
2.83
9.99
1.99
does not equal $15 but $5 came off

mostly for us that didn't have frozen deal this week so freezer's aren't stuffed:
Scan your Frozen food, with less than 8 items from the wyb8 list
scan 5/15
then your non-frozen wyb 8 items
ie:
GG box veg 1.79 ea x 4 =7.16

5.16 after wyb 8 discount, so scanning 5/15 b4 discount kicks in $2 more toward $15,

Why are only buying 4 in your scenario? If you buy 9, you can use 3 60¢/3 insert coupons:
GG box $1.79 x9 = 16.11
FF $5/15 = -$5.00
B8 promo = - $4.00
Man Q 60¢ x3 = -1.80
total $5.31 or 59¢ ea
In my area: doubles to 99¢ so an extra $1.20= $4.11 or 46¢ ea

Or I might mix & match and use the free open nature I got from FB to get to $15 FF.... Decisions..

seemed to complicated to offer entire $15 scenario I would do-if possible I always include a SW brand item & ON* item to use the $1SQs

I dunno if it's just the GG frozen boxed vegetables but neither the $5/$15 FF NOR the $5 OYNO Cat took anything off after doing the .01 thing. I even bought 12 of them for a frozen total of $15.48. Since I didn't have a physical $5/$15 (I was using SCO as usual), I only got the $5 OYNO Cat pushed through. After I paid, no $5 OYNO printed and I verified the machine was working before starting. That's my report this morning and it was epic fail.

Thanks a lot Rejoyce, I think I'm going to hit my head against the wall. Yesterday I went to buy the organics veggies since they were $3 BOGO and I was thinking using the $5/15 they will be $1 each (not bad for organics) and as usual when I entered the code the .01 thing showed on the screen but when I hit total, I thought I was going to see the $5 and didn't see anything so decided to give back some of the veggies since I didn't want to have 10 bags at $1.50 each. After I came back home I was thinking, I still should have tried to pay and I could have returned them. Anyway... $1.50 is still not bad :)

Yeah for the $1.48 32 oz Lucerne cheese :woot::omg:, that's an incredible price, I've never seen that price anywhere.

And I wanted to thanks also the person who mentioned the Oroweat deal, I got 10 of them yesterday, what a great price!!!

scrapinlin 09-21-2011 12:07 PM

Looking at the ad today and I see the same logo as last year "The JOY of FOOTBALL". Has anyone seen or heard if Safeway/TT will have an AWESOME booklet of coupons like last time? Would sure LOVE it. ;)

snobunni 09-21-2011 12:12 PM

Stopped by today and saw that they have Golden Grain Pasta as part of the buy 8 save .50 promo. .89 after discount. My store had $1/2 blinkies so .39 a box

It works in NorCal, I did it twice yesterday. (2x) $1.99 BOGO minus coupon and cat = $0.88 for 4 boxes.

Oroweat deal? I did a search on Oroweat and Orowheat and came up with nada in this thread. What is it (or did it end yesterday anyway!)

tonejob1972 09-21-2011 03:50 PM

Today is first day of 50¢ off WYB 8. Snapples end up at 79¢. Got a lot of 50¢ tear pad coupons for these. Also Mission chips and Artisan Style Tortillas end up at $1.49. Red peelies for $1.00 of ANY Mission product (expire 12/31/11) plastered all over the products.

sorry for the mispelled, yes Orowheat. It ended yesterday, they were BOGO and some of us got a special JFU price of $2.78, so in the end 2 for $2.78 wasn't a bad deal at all.

tuffghost 09-21-2011 10:41 PM

Can anyone verify the price of the Safeway Select Pizzas? There is an in-ad Q making it 2.99 and you can use the $1 coupon from the FF book on it. I still have my Ben & Jerry TP $1/1s so I'm thinking of doing:

3 Ben & Jerrys @ 3.49 = 10.47
1 SS Pizza 3.99 (guessing the price)
filler .54
subtotal 15.00

- 5/15
- 1.50 Buy 8 promo
- 3.00 B&J TP
- 1.00 SS pizza in-ad Q
- 1.00 FF Book any Safeway product

total OOP 3.50!

also:

6 GG Veggies = 10.74
1 SS Pizza = 3.99
filler = .27

- 5/15
- 3.00 Buy 8 promo
- 1.20 GG .60/3 MQ
- 1.00 SS Pizza in-ad Q
- 1.00 FF Book any safeway product Q

OOP 3.80!

I am kind of confused, I can see how maybe if the GG veggies were accidentally not coded to be part of the FF promo, then the 5/15 wouldn't work but if you are using the $5 oyno that should work on any store purchase. It sounds like your store's register and/or computer system was just not working right in general and doesn't sound like it was because of the GG. Also, were you expecting to receive a new $5 cat today? We didn't have the $5 cat in our region last week but had the 30% Q instead, but that 30% Q didn't appear in our ad this week.

Mine weren't marked as part of the promo. :( But, not all of the piccolini was marked and it was pictured in the ad. When I get my card reattached to my J4U I will give it a try as I have the $.92 personalized price (I lost my card that is 10 years old, DH and I had 5 different addresses and phone numbers our first year of wedded bliss - 800 SW told me to get a new card and they will attach it to my J4U). Also included in the wyb 8 promo:

Honest Tea = $.89 wyb 8 online price, but I thought it was less expensive in store: Use $1/2 TP for $.39 or less
Hormel compleats for kids = $1.49 use couponsdotcom $1/1 = $.49 (DD 4 loves these)
Ritz Munchables = $1.99 use $1/1 printable from SS (possibly no longer available) = $.99

Lipton Tea BOGOs (IP) autodeducted $1.49!

Arrowhead Sparkling FB page has $1/1 IP for 1 L bottles which are $1 = FREE
link: http://www.facebook.com/arrowhead...0699109051

I also noticed that ON B2G1 is still going on (in Nor Cal, at least). Nice for using up the $5/$15 and $1 ON frozen foods. :)

The $5 OYNO Cat was advertised last week in my area with dates 9-14 thru 10-18. I have already sent my e-mail to Catalina with my receipt info, plus a scan of the offer from the ad. Just waiting hear back. As for the $5 OYNO Cat not working at the store, I'm still trying to figure that one out.

:repped:

Thanks! I had no idea these were included. Will pair nicely with all the .50 tearpad Qs that I have leftover. I'm mostly interested in cheap veggies and I might as well use the Honest Tea Qs. The promo is wyb 8 or more so, here's my plan:

GG boxed $1.79x6=10.74
GG Steamers $2.99x2=5.98
Honest Tea $1.39x9= 12.51
= 29.93
- $5 ($5 off $15)
- 8.50 (wyb 8 promo used 17 times)
- .60/3 MQ GG boxes
- .60/3 MQ GG boxes
- .50/2 GG steamers
- .50 doubled
- .50 Honest Tea MQ
- .50 doubled
- 4.00 (Honest Tea .50 x 8)
= 8.53+ tax

I'm loving 6 boxes and 2 bags of veggies plus 9 bottles of tea for $9. Comes out to 70% savings! :bounce:

California Cheese Coupon

Appreciate the effort for whoever posted the California Cheese coupon above but it is not clear. The resolution is set too low. Cannot read the printing even when magnified. I would not expect the store to accept it and they may not get reimbursed even if they do.

Not a good idea to use defective copies for coupons for many reasons.

Well, it also happened to me. I bought 6 GG boxed veggies and 2 Steamers - all part of the wyb8. I took into account the "before wyb8" price. Is that what went wrong? My $5/$15 didn't go through and came up as .01. I went to CS 'cause it was this girl's first day and didn't want to confuse her. CS lady practically hit me over the head with "PRICE MUST BE AFTER MANUFACTURER" ...... geesh, okay, okay!!

Total fail here too. So much for my low profile.

Wow. That stinks. Has anyone has sucess with the double dip ($5/15 FF Q and $5 cat) yet this week? Last week it went wonky for a couple days then started working awesome again. I want cheap veggies!!

Here's a crazy deal my mom did last week: She got three Open Nature pizzas, they were $4.99 and B2G1 free. That's ALL she got. She wanted to try the $5 FF Q on SWs regular prices. She went through self check, used the code (it worked) and then got the catalina! She also used ON coupons. :omg:

I think if the code works, you should get the cat (you've reached SWs magical $15 mark). If the code it not working, abort mission, somethings messed up and you probably won't get the cat.

I should add that there's not even a CAT involved in my transaction. Makes things even sadder  It was just a straight-up $5/$15 discount taking into account the pre-wyb8 prices.

Did you print out your JFU pricing? If you did show that to the cashier.

Whenever I have a J4U price not coming up I go to CS after paying and request the difference. Sometimes I get it immediately, sometimes I'm asked to show my J4U price on my phone.

I have a J4U price of $0.92 for Barilla, regular is pictured on J4U, and I know it doesn't work for whole wheat. Only Piccollini and Plus are part of the wyb8 promo, regular is not pictured in the ad and is not marked on shelf either. Since I have way too much pasta as is, I didn't try to purchase any regular Barilla and see if the $0.50 wyb8 discount would apply to my J4U price.

They changed the price for everyone in California also :( Only thing you can do is bring in the print out showing $1.98 (if you printed it out)

SW email 2:51 PST

To Our Valued Customer:

The Lucerne Chunk Cheese, 32oz advertised in our email sent on Sept. 21 was inadvertently priced incorrectly. The correct price is $4.99. This offer will be valid until 9/27/11.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

whitemocha14 09-22-2011 05:52 PM

I tried to combined the FF coupon today with $0.50 off each wyb 8 promo. Bought...

5 Marie Calendars frozen meals each for $2.39 (before discount) $1.89 (wyb 8)
2 Green Giant Veggie each for $1.79 (before discount) $1.29 (wyb 8)
Also had other non-frozen food items to get to 8

The pre-discount FF total should be over $15 but the $5 coupon did not came off after scanning. 2 other promo coupons from a grand re-opening booklet they mailed didn't work either even tho I was very careful to make sure I grabbed the correct items. Cashier was nice and pushed everything through.

No problems with any manufacturer coupons used. I enjoy shopping at SW but their instore promos definitely have room for improvement.

Anybody notice anything strange/cool about the Safeway brand pasta? Regular price is $1.59, there are tags marked $.49..... but on my receipt it says "card savings $1.59".... so FREE! I used SCO and wasn't paying attention to what it was saying. Is the Safeway pasta part of the "buy 8" promo? We will be eating A LOT of pasta in the next few months (or years) if that is the case. I'm in SoCal.

anyone try the bolded part yet?

I won't get a chance to try til at least Saturday
I did check for stock of the bns bags on Tues-saw only one bag but the store was still affected by distribution center power outage & shortages

Gas Card promo

I love the new gas card promo with 4x points for gift cards. I had to buy $250 worth of stuff from Amazon so I bought $250 gift cards which earned me 1000 points = $1.00 off per gallon which will save me about $16-18.

Doesn't look good but can't hurt to try.

The Safeway NorCal Division offices are located in Pleasanton, CA operating within Northern California to the Oregon border, Western Nevada, and Hawaii. The NorCal Division stretches from King City, south of Monterey, north to Crescent City and West into Lovelock, Nevada. NorCal operates stores on the Islands of Kaui, Oahu, Maui, and the Island of Hawaii.

I do not think so. I believe that the Barilla CAT announcement I received said "3 or more" meaning no matter how above three that you purchase you are limited to one CAT per transaction.

I am not too sure...to me it seems the key is the before price...since it seems cotton top's price is .49 with card savings so free when you take .50 B8S4.
My was tagged with card savings of .99 and no promo tag....so they are participating even though not tagged.

Marie Callendar's dinners are $1.89 WYB 8. You can print a $1/3 coupon here [mariecallendersmeals.com] so:

Buy 8 x $1.89 = $15.12 - $2 (2x$1 MQ) - $5/15 FF = $8.12 or $1.02 each. You can also buy 9 and use 3 MQ to get them for $1.01 each. HTH.

My store had tags for B2G2 free Pepsi 12 pks. The .55 blinkies (Pepsi Max) work for the 12packs so used 2 and it took off 1.10 each. Approximately $10 for 4 Pepsi Max 12pks. Thought this was a decent deal if you like Pepsi Max. As previously noted the 2 liters are free with the blinkie. HTH

Has anyone with a JFU price for Barilla buy the Piccolini & Plus version? I was curious if it would double dip with promo.

Also, if anyone here has a JFU price for Bertolli sauce, it is part of the promo wyb 8. I also read on a blog that wyb 4, you get a $2.00 catalina back.

The math goes like this for me:
$1.88 JFU x4= $7.52
-$2.00 promo = $5.52
-4 x $.50 q from MDA booklet =$3.52
get back $2.00 cat =$1.52 for 4 jars! = $.38 each

Yep, that worked. Leebee61 reported that in the NorCal thread. She and I both tested it today and it worked fine.

I just moved back and am wanting to get back into the SW deals! Excuse the question, but where is the 5/15 FF Q? I did this deal back in the spring, but back then the coupons were in the ad. I have never had any luck with JFU and eQs working! Hope it's a paper Q.

The good news is that it is a paper coupon, but the bad news is that it was available in the FF booklets that are difficult to find any more. They were all over my stores at some point, I sent dozens of envelopes with them to other people in this thread and just then they stopped being anywhere at my stores (still feeling bad about the people I promised to look for more for, and never found any after that :( ). Do ask at the CS desk, though, maybe your store still has some? If not, the code entered at SCO might be your only option :(

Also, in March the coupon was in the weekly ad in the first and last week of the sale, so I'm still hoping they might put another one for the last week of September?

thebatgurl 09-23-2011 06:35 PM

Just tried a frozen deal in SCO. I got 9 GG frozen boxed veggies. I was $16.11 BEFORE the B8 discount and $12.11 after. The code didn't work, tried physical Q, wouldn't scan. Couldn't get it forced because total showed below $15, so aborted mission and didn't buy.

I'll try again tomorrow with an order over $15 after B8 discounts...

Anybody buy the Yoplait smoothies and use the 5/15 FF q on them?
My stores double ALL qs up to .99, so my .75/1 smoothie qs are worth 1.50. Here is what I am thinking of buying. Think this will work?

(4) Yoplait Smoothies @ 2.99 = 11.96
(1) Ben & Jerry's pint @ 3.49 for a Total of 15.45 Frozen food.
Then add
(2) Welch's Juice Cocktail @ 2.49 = 4.98 for a pre-q total 20.43
(1) Pepsi masx 2-liter
less
5/15
$4 WYB 8 items
$6( 4 yoplait .75 dbld)
$1 B&J pint .50/1 dbld
$3 Welch's IP .75/1 dbld
1.10 pepsi Max .55/1 dbld
Total OOP 1.72

Catalina Marketing told me yesterday that this promotion was OVER. I told them that the physical paper ad was no longer valid, but that the dates of the Cat offer were thru October 18, and read it off from the ad itself, that I still have. They wouldn't budge. Called back and was told the same thing from a different person. So, I called SW Corp and was also told the same thing. SW called me back though and said "after doing research" they discovered I was correct, but that the offer of thru 10-18 was NOT for all areas, though my area it IS still on. They said they were contacting Catalina Marketing to straighten it out. So hang in there until it's fixed, or make some phone calls. I had one of my 3 cat issues resolved. Still hoping I get my other two fixed.

valliebaby 09-24-2011 07:43 AM

JFU question...

Has this rolled out everywhere yet? Anyone in MD have it? I have a few cards that always showed JFU isn't available yet. Just signed up for a new card and it doesn't work on that one either. Help!!

I must agree with this. I did not think about how good it would work out.

For those of you who also shop at Target, you might want to think about getting a gift card from SW. Just know that these take about 24 hours to activate.

Most others don't have this problem.

Hey guys, did anyone notice if Safeway carries the Welch's Healthy Start 100% Juice as part of their buy 8 sale?

uahsoj 09-25-2011 07:45 PM

Newman's Lemonade is part of the buy 8 promo. $1.49 after discount at my store. I don't know of any coupons for it. I got a couple because it is so tasty.

So I've read the last 4 pages...but what is the story of safeways now? I haven't been in the game since the glory days of multiple eq's paying for an entire trip...and savings of %101. What's the game plan? The wiki is still talking about eq's but I thought those were over with...I don't see any of the Cats in the wiki either...I have 2 one for hallmark when you buy 6 get 4onyo through 10/31 and post pebbles and treats...b2-3g1onyo b4-5g2onyo and b6ormoreg5onyo....thru 10/3 can't search the archive properly something is wonky.
It seemed like this time last year we were sailing through free cereal and fruit snacks...what are the trends this time around....

missusg 09-25-2011 10:37 PM

I somehow got the idea that Arrowhead sparkling water was part of "wyb8", but it was just marked 5/$5 on the shelf
so in case I'm not the only one, there you go

went to non-SCO store so didn't try anything interesting.
Had a $1/1 Bertolli sauce MQ on my card so the 4th .50mq beeped(but cashier pushed thru)
and was able to use free Crackerfuls wyb Ritz peelies (x9/30!)
I got Munchables as my ritz. I hope the oz matched up-forgot to look & used to SCO where I have time to do that during trans.

eQs are Just4U program you'll find at safeway.com
they host their own so not as much control & you can't use paper & eQ so sometimes don't want to download them-you may have better paper Q in your arsenal
Can download adQs to your card
They also offer "personalized prices" or freebies wyb $10

Was very :tumblewed: here until recently and we got in the habit of finding our own deals, I guess. You can usually find current CAT deals at couponnetwork.com
-has distinct advantage of not having to know someone who got a printout and wondering if your region is included

trends?
hmph
right now there's some SQs that are pretty good, and if you have SCO you can use the code on the Q & don't have to surrender physical Q
SQ usually has UPC (0) 000000-XXXXX-(x)
the red #s are the code you input, the same place you enter produce codes
HTH

Frozen food double dip worked for me yesterday at the Safeway in Lake Oswego, OR (the one by Bridgeport Village.) I actually wasn't expecting it to work, but still wanted to at least use the $5/$15 FF q I had. In case it is helpful, here is what I purchased:

(2) Lucerne Ice Cream Sandwich 12 packs - Sale price $3.77 ea =$7.54
Sfway Cheries $4.39
Open Nature Ice Cream sale price $4.49
Before Q's = $16.42
Less:
$1 Lucerne Q
$5 FF Q
$4.49 Open Nature Q

$5.93 OOP

Received $5 Cat.

Hope that helps someone. Perhaps, as someone mentioned, the cat is only still printing in certain area.

If anyone got a raincheck for the Smucker's jam when it was 1.99 with q (limit 4) you might be able to get for free with the 1.50 qs. I got it Sat night and it was already tagged part of the buy 8 promo. It scanned current price--then scanned q--then I gave 4 1.50 printables--but also 50 cents was taken off each jar frpm the 1.99 price so ends up free. I'm assuming when they manually adjust to 1.99 the 50 cents will still be taken off with buy 8 deal cause it's done at the bottom of receipt.

Calif Pizza Kitchen small pizzas don't happen to be in the new ad do they? Planning to go tomorrow if they aren't. Have no clue how much they are, but hoping to get a couple little ones with the 5 off 15 & $1 mfq since all my other frozen stuff will be covered with free qs =o)

Fell in love with them last frozen deal when the $1 mfq & cat deal made them free. Oh those were good days!

SW WA double dip report. My friend did the first two and I did number three.

Transaction #1 - all Green Giant boxed veggies = NO $5 cat

Transaction # 2 - SW select pizzas and Banquet pot pie = $5 cat

Transaction # 3 - Green Giant boxed veggies, ON ice cream, pizza stuffers = NO $5 cat

Wondering if the GG veggies are a problem (like the steamers?) or if it's just hit and miss. I'll try again with no veggies.

Please report any sucess or failures, the FF coupon expires Thursday!

Here is more for the buy8 promo deal:

Starbucks coffee 7.49-1.50 mfrq=5.99 when you buy 2 you get a code via checkout cat machine for a 5 dollar starbucks egiftcard. Most of the bags have a free cup of coffee coupon on them, which is I think valued at 1.50, so its like like paying 3.98 for 2 bags of Starbucks coffee.
Open Nature sour cream is 1.49 so 49 cents after Open Nature coupon.
Certain bags of Lucerne shredded cheese(such as medium cheddar, sharp cheddar and mozzorella have the Real california milk/cheese symbol and its 1.79 so after the mfrq its just 1.24, sometimes you get lucky and the checker will manually double the coupon for an even better price of 79 cents.

I searched the word "Refreshe" and came up with nothing so I'm sorry if this is a repeat...

I found 2 (new to me) Safeway coupons on the counter at Customer Service.

One is
$1 off any (2) 12-packs Refreshe Soda or any (2) 6-packs Refresh soda (Exp. 10-31-11)
Says "Minimum $1 purchase required" and "Only one item per
coupon, one coupon per transaction, and one coupon per customer"

The other
.75¢ off any The Snack Artist Frozen Appetizers (Exp. 10-31-11)
Also says "Minimum $1 purchase required" and "Only one item per
coupon, one coupon per transaction, and one coupon per customer"

Attachment 691554

Are "one per customer" SW coupons tracked on your store card? No they are not.

Also: I'd be glad to RAOK some of these. Just PM me.

Also I have a bunch of the 1.50/1 LOL cinnamon spreadable butter Qs....good deal with the upcoming sale: Land o Lakes Spreadable Butter - $1.79...Also have some on my trade list.

I did a quick search, but could not come up with this. Have been out of the loop for a few days.
So if someone has done this I would appreciate any feedback.

Our SW has ON ice cream B2G1 Free. ON is 5.49 shelf price, but tagged at 4.49 at the moment.
I just received my FREE ON ice cream from FB SW offer.
I also have a 1/1 ON product.

I was thinking of doing a deal like this:
3x ON ice cream (shelf = 16.77), will ring up like 8.98
Use 5/15 + Free Q -4.49 + 1$/1 Q = 1.51 Overage towards my produce....

Would this work? Or does the Free Store Promo one not count towards shelf?

TIA! For any feedback!!!

Our SW has ON ice cream B2G1 Free. ON is 5.49 shelf price, but tagged at 4.49 at the moment.
I just received my FREE ON ice cream from FB SW offer.
I also have a 1/1 ON product.

That ON ice cream has Limit 1 per transaction written right on it, in bold. I was trying to use 2, the cashier was new and called over an ass. manager who stated that fact right before he saw the coupon. I didn't even notice it. Hopefully, your cashier won't be picky.

Just did the deal @ 3:00 and it worked fine. Not sure of the end date, but JFU pricing making this a real deal ends today. HTH :)

Answering my own question here: NO!
The 5$ did not the .01 thing, So didn't work. But was worth a try
We don't need anymore ice cream anyways, I need to fill up with some other frozen stuff
before the 5$/15 ends

I still fared well. My 3$ produce cat would not scan either, although I was above the 10$, but
cashier pushed it through and did also push my 2$ off FE salad through, although they normally adjust those down to the price of the item.

Is the Plum District CAT a generic code or a one time use? Any idea what prompted it? I bought powerade and gatorade today and got nada!

(I was just asking on my FB for somebody to refer me so I can get the $5 new sign up credit.....nice timing for you to mention this! Pretty sure from what I've read that I could stack a coupon code with the new user credit. Pretty sure I'm going to gamble on the circus ticket deal for Friday......hubby is due home Thursday night from a year in Iraq.....has already been changed from Wed so it would be quite the gamble lol)

As a side note.....if you have the $1/1 Gatorade prime or recover they are on sale for 99 cents.....wasn't sure if they would beep so I did SCO and scanned those before my card and it worked fine....but I only had 2.

I am positive the cat for the 10. Plum is totally random since I got it at Albertsons when I was just redeeming my recycling receipt.
On another note if you do decide to purchase the circus tickets and you have not gotten the cat yet- please let me know. You are more than welcome to use the one I have.

I also received a CAT announcement.

Ore-Ida Frozen Potato products (10/3 - 10/17)
Buy 2, Get $1
Buy 3, Get $2
Buy 4+, Get $3

Since there are 3000 items on the current promo I thought I'd give out a reminder. (I forgot about this until just last night.) If you go to the grocery delivery section for safeway's page and locate 1 of the promo items you can click on the underlined special online offer and see a list of all qualifying products.

jbrowns22 09-28-2011 11:18 AM

I went to SW again today to get some stuff and try to get my very own Plum District CAT - no luck on that but I did get the following CAT Announcement:

From 9/18 - 11/12

Buy any 3 participating Refreshe soda products (in one trx) and get 2 free one night rentals from Blckbuster Express.
*Excludes non-carbonated items such as purified and vitamin enhanced waters.
*Not Valid on Hot List or Blue Ray.

Catalina replied to me yesterday concerning the GG Boxed Vegatables. I had bought 12 in a single transaction and no $5 coupon printed nor the $5/$15 worked.

Quote:

Thank you for contacting the Catalina Marketing Helpdesk,

Thank you for providing your information. After reviewing your transaction, we found that you did not spend on the items with qualifying UPCs. We apologize but will not be able to issue a coupon for this promotion. Kindly contact store for further assistance.
Obviously, this answer will not do. I am escalating this up the chain as far as I need to.

Lowest prices on Gerber Graduates were 1.29 at my store. There are .55 or 1.00 q's on coupons.com which makes them pretty cheap, especially with doubles. I got a surpise cat with them but I just searched and it ends today, boo

I am sorry if you misunderstood- but I was specifically offering this to jbrowns22 so she could use it toward the circus tickets which happily coincide with her husbands return from deployment.
I am happy to report it took some arm twisting but she finally did accept the offer.

slickness123 09-28-2011 08:46 PM

Safeway raised the price of the Lucerne cheese from $1.79 to $2.49 WYB 8, even though the Sunday ad states the price is $1.79 until October 1st! What's up with that?!

I bought 3 more Gatorade Recover today with the $1.00 coupon since I found a couple more...I once again did SCO and did the qs before I scanned my card....has anyone tried it through a regular check out and not had issues? Since they are 99¢ I'm really thinking they would beep and have no idea if they would push it through or not. I need to use my last two at the store without a self check out tomorrow morning when I buy my pizzas so I guess I will try it and hope I get a nice or at least uninterested cashier lol.

This is still printing. I got a $10 one this time. I bought a lot of the WYB 8 or more and did the 5/15 frozen promo. The only thing I can correlate is the ON ice cream, which I bought during both transactions and also the Clasico coffee sticks.

Found info:

Still holding onto your $10 Plum District Credit?! Well, Plum District has a great offer today! Get a $24 voucher worth of cookie, candy, and decorating supplies from MyCandyCrafts.com for ONLY $12! Plus if you use promo code PLUMLOVE you can save an additional 30% bringing your total cost to ONLY $8.40! If you use your Plum District Dollars you can get this great offer for FREE! That stinks. I have two transactions where the cat didn't print that I need to call about. I've been putting it off because I'm sure they will just say I didn't purchase enough items.

My frozen items yesterday consisted of Michael Angelos meals, SS ice cream and ON ice cream, NO cat. I was over $15 after mix and match discounts.

My mom got solely Michael Angelos meals and did get the $5 cat. Same store.

Free Lucerne Creamery 6oz. ice cream.

Today my Lucerne 6oz rang up free. It is the one in the ad with the coupon that says 59 cents. I scanned all items before my card and then the coupons if that matters. It said regular price 1.29, card savings .30 and store coupon .99. So Free instead of 59 cents.

I just bought one and other stuff that isn't part of any deal. I wanted to go back and try it again but I had to go. Also another surprise to me was that my Jimmy Dean's Biscuit sandwiches rang up for 4.99 when the sign said 5.99.
