I decided to leave in everything regarding deal bucks because they can be used later on for another deal. If I was to remove one of the referral links and completely ignore deals bucks, this tutorial would be a whole lot simpler.

TOTAL REWARD AFTER 2 SETS - $140 in Amazon Gift Cards for a cost of $50 (7 Accounts because 1 is reused)

Here's my detailed instructions on how to obtain $80 worth of Amazon Gift Cards for only $30 on your first set. Each set after your first set will only cost $20! (Because you're reusing an account on the next set you'll get $60 in GC, but only pay $20)

Let me first summarize the process. When you join Living Social you're given two completely different referral links. If you use the first referral link, anyone that joins under you will receive $5 in deal bucks instantly. Unfortunately, Living Social has disabled deal bucks for this deal. You can still take those deal bucks and use them on another deal later on. The second referral link requires you to refer 3 additional users who must purchase this deal as well. If the 3 users purchase this deal, YOUR deal is FREE. So in other words, you will only have to pay for the 3 additional accounts and not your first account. (Or main account) The goal is to now combine both of the referral links to allow you to purchase 4 $20 gift cards for $10 a piece and only pay for the last 3. (The first referral link isn't necessary since you're not using the deal bucks now, but why pass up on free cash that can be used for a later deal?) If you do the math, the cost is $30 and you'll receive $80 in Amazon Gift Cards. HOWEVER, on your next set, SET TWO, you will repeat the process below using the referral links from one of the 3 additional accounts you have created. This account will become your new main account. This means you won't have to make an initial purchase on the main account. Once you've made 3 purchases, costing $30, your main account will be free. Since your main account was part of the first set and you're no longer going to have to pay for it, that first set will cost $10 less, or a $20 total. Each consecutive set will only cost $20 because the main account will become free. I realize this is confusing, but hopefully the steps below will iron out any questions.

(1) Sign up to Living Social to create a dummy account. Don't worry about being refereed as you won't be making a purchase on this account.
(2) Click "My Account > "deal bucks" > "Invite more Friends" > Scroll down and copy the referral link (You won't need to save this referral link. You'll use it just once.)
(3) Log out of your account.
(4) Paste the referral link into your browser, press enter > Enter your email > Click Sign Up (Your account should now have $5 in Deal bucks that you can't use for this deal. I'll refer to this account as your main account.)
(5) Make your first purchase on your main account for a total cost of $10
(6) Repeat step 2 and save your referral link somewhere such as notepad. I'll refer to this referral link as referral link 1.
(7) Click "My Account > "buy more" > Scroll down and copy the referral link located in the bottom/middle of the page. I'll refer to this referral link as referral link 2. Save this link as well. (Take a mental note and look to the left of the referral link, you'll see a picture of 4 men that say "Me,1,2,3")
(8) Log out of your account.
(9) Paste referral link 1 into your browser and press enter. Enter your new email and press submit. (DO NOT SIGN UP YET) (Read the notes below to see a Gmail trick for using the same email each time)
(10) Paste referral link 2 into your browser and press enter. Sign up now using the email entered in step 9. (I use the same exact information on every account except the email address)
(11) Make a purchase for again $10. (I'll refer to this account as "Additional Account 1")
(12) Repeat steps 8-11 two more times to give you a total of 4 accounts, 1 Main Account and 3 Additional accounts. (We don't care about the dummy account anymore)
(13) Log out of your account.
(14) Log into your main account and click "My Account > "buy more". To the left of your referral link you should see 4 little men in green that spell out FREE instead of "Me,1,2,3". This means your main account will receive the gift card for free and you will not be charged.
(15) If you're now moving on to a second set, login to "Additional Account 1", your new main account, and repeat steps 6-14)

Congratulations... You now have purchased 4 $20 Amazon Gift Cards for only $30, or $20 if you're on your second set. You can repeat this process multiple times to purchase even more gift cards. This took a while to create! Please say thanks if it helped!

(1) If you decide to purchase more than $80 worth of gift cards, you must use one of your 3 additional accounts as your new main account to only pay $20.

At first yes, but if you read step 14 you'll see that your main account will not be charged after you have made the 3 purchases on your 3 additional accounts. It's their special to encourage you to refer others to the deal. If you can refer 3 other people that purchase the deal, yours is free.

I've seen a lot these in last 2-3 weeks where the legit sites would advertise for 'looks too good to be true' price. First it was Sears on 50% off gift card, then Target on $40 for PS3, and now this. I've yet to find confirmation on anyone got the sears and target deals.

It has always been "1 per person". Somewhere in the middle of the fiasco, the site glitched allowing multiple orders per account, but those will almost definitely get canceled (judging from past history of similar sites).

HEADS UP for those who used deal bucks...look on the receipt page (click on buy more to see it), the deal bucks discount is no longer being shown in the total purchase price, which leads me to believe that if at any point you used deal bucks, this will not count, and you will get charged the full $10.

all $5 purchases have been switched to $10 charges if you look at your purchase history. Still a great deal, but that's pretty lame that they are even able to do that since you literally submitted the order for a one amount, but they are charging your card double that amount.

I don't know why livingsocial released this deal in the middle of the night. They would have received much better exposure, and broader participation, if they released it at noon or something. Instead, they gave a relatively small number of people ample time to figure out how to abuse it, and many will come to the page later when it says "Deal sold out". (shrug) Makes no sense.

I basically saw this deal, ROBOFORMED my email+1@gmail.com to email+85@gmail.com, went to Carl Jr, for a late night snack, my card was bounced back, had to used another card to pay for dinner. Came home, looked at my charges, and I got 26 of them only =(, so well see if I even get the 26. Anyhow, back to ROBOFORM, I spent roughly 40 mins, then logged off, I didn't want to spend 3-4 or even 6 hours doing stupid referrals, then get canceled somehow or charge the same amount. no. it's their mistake, and they made it available for purchase to the public. We didn't do anything wrong like going in to their system and changing code or whatever. They created this, so they should honor their mistake. We didn't do anything morally wrong, THEY did by charging people DOUBLE to what we authorized them to charge on our card. Can you imagine going to a store and buying an item for what you thought was a great price and then receiving your credit card bill and realizing they charged you double to what you authorized them to charge on your card? That would never fly.

So $10 for $20 is too expensive for you?

How about an iPad that's worth $500 for $250, or maybe a PS3 for $100 after the free $100 giftcard?

I don't see why you people are canceling, this is a steal. Basically, Amazon has the best prices in the world, plus free shipping, and tax free for most people, and you get everything for half off, EVERYTHING.


I don't see the purpose of canceling, if you do, then you don't belong here on slickdeals, because ALL the items on slickdeals are barely even half off. You can look at all the five thumb rated deals, and they aren't even 50% off, you guys make me laugh......

Assuming you paid with a credit card, then yes. However, if you paid with a debit or check card it is not legal. I had some issues in the past getting an out of warranty Mobo RMA'd where they ended up needing to adjust some charges, and they told me because I used a Visa Checkcard (debit card from my bank) that they would have to apply the cost increase as a seperate charge all together. On a related note, you also can not place a hold on anything but a credit card.

The question is... Do they accept PayPal or anybody else that would middle-man the purchases?

I completely agree. I didn't cancel all of my orders. I simply don't have the cash to shovel out $100 right now. If I had a $1,000 to play with I would make 100 orders.

This says it all. And I imagine once this thread picks back up once people wake up, there's going to be more of an outcry. The $5 referral trick wasn't that uncommon in this thread, and even if was, a company charging you more than you authorized for a transaction is bullshit. The sad thing is, they're probably going to get away with it too, since they're taking their good old time sending out confirmation e-mails. I have exactly ZERO evidence proving my purchase was supposed to be $5.

Hmmm. I have pending charges for 8 of the orders I set the vcc's to $10. No pending charges on the vcc's I put the limit at $5. Looks like they tried to put through the whole $10 and were rejected. I guess I won't be getting those giftcards.

Not one, but I can log on every single email that I created with the stupid + symbol, so if anything, I believe I can get the code of $20 through the account page from livingsocial. As of right now, I have no hope for this deal, then again, if this deal wasn't happening, I think they would of pulled the plug on this already, on the website, but thats my opinion, It's all speculation. I notice on some deals I've gotten in the past before, people had tons of doubt, such as the $50 off $50 at guitarcenter. They actually shipped out 2 of my orders, and many other countless deals people bitch and whine about, and cry about, that I still get in on. I recall when they had the 4 movie tickets for $18 deal including Imax and 3D through SocialLife. Might have been OK if you had gotten your voucher numbers early, but I waited for about 30 days so tickets would be good through the holidays which was a mistake. They cancelled it.But did get a refund.

I don't think its going to be tied to your account, it's usually a code, exactly like a gift card, and you plug it into your account, then BAM, you get the cash. I've actually got into a deal like this with BLOOMINGSPORTS? or something it was $15 for $5 or something, and it was a code I plugged into my account, and BAM, I got the $15. But if I am wrong, I'm going to shoot myself on this slickdeal failure, =X
