Your membership has been cancelled." Also 2-day shipping doesn't show up on the right and I don't have the "prime" logo anymore. Worked for me on 5/27/11 If you CALL Amazon to CANCEL, YOU CANNOT RE-SIGN UP using the same e-mail. For Alumni emails simply capitalize your email so that "alum" is not included: name@alum.school.edu => name@Alum.school.edu australia emails don't work Bolivia emails dont work Don't try to click on the confirmation link using a Blackberry device. You will get a message from Amazon saying the confirmation link was not valid if click on the link through your Blackberry I used google chrome as I don't have IE installed FYI - I have an Amazon Prime account through my daughter who is a college student. She cancelled her account then signed up again. It automatically extended my Prime account until 2/28/2012 also :) you will not received the e-mail confirmation until your previous entered personal information matching with your current entered personal information. It happend to me just now. I hope this would help. Gonzo380 - Anyone that was previously an Amazon Student Prime member that cancelled but could not re-register for it, try finding your original email when you first signed up for it in your .edu account and click on the verification link. Worked for me. In a follow-up to Gonzo380's suggestion, I didn't even wait for Amazon to send a new confirmation link. After submitting my .edu email address, I immediately used the confirmation link from the time I signed up previously. Worked perfectly. - Gizmotoy If you accidentally cancelled and could not re-register for it and you do not have your original confirmation email. You can submit a request directly to amazon and they will re-enable your prime account starting from today for an additional year! - dsp9753 If you're using rockmelt and use autofill to fill in your e-mail address and state, don't use autofill - put in your e-mail address and state manually. Otherwise the list of schools doesn't pop up and an error occurs. -adidabiking *If you use the alumni.school.edu and don't receive the email instantly, just click on the link requesting another copy and it will be sent over "IMMEDIATELY", then click on link and you are gooood - llfe -- Works fine in Chrome, browsers aren't the issue anymore. Canceled membership, logged into australia.edu, used old email link, signed me back up right away. 2012 exp. Quote:
I had to cancel old student membership and sign up for a NEW account using different caps on the .edu e-mail address... if you only cancel your student membership and reapply without signing up for a NEW Amazon account your PRIME membership does NOT renew, only student membership does. Your Amazon Prime Membership Membership dates: March 5, 2011 - March 5, 2012 (Gigahertz21) - I can confirm the above, if you cancel your current membership and try to extend Amazon student prime for another year using the SAME Amazon account, it will not work. The only way to try and get another free year of Amazon prime on the SAME Amazon account is to talk to a CS Rep. using the right language and they might do it. Go to page 116 of this thread and read the replies for some info on how to do it. If you don't want to bother talking/lying to a CS Rep. then just create a new Amazon account and then it's trouble free. 6/12/11: also confirm still working (same .edu/same account) - jeremym 7/4/11: worked for me to sign up new. yay for lifetime email forwarding from my undergrad and grad school. |

Thanks for posting. Can anyone verify that this will work? I don't want to cancel my Prime and find out I cannot renew. Thanks.
|
yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh

you can as long as you have .edu email access still. only posting after i confirmed myself. Membership start date: Feb 28, 2011 You may cancel your membership at any time and end your Amazon Student benefits immediately. As an Amazon Student member, you have received one year of FREE Two-Day Shipping with Amazon Prime shipping benefits. |
Doesn't work since I sign up in August.
|
Quote:
what do you mean? no you could have signed up in any month it doesn't matter. i just mentioned june/july coz thats when most of us signed up. |
i forgot my .edu address, its not in my account either, any way to find out what it is?
|
I so want another year of amazon but i'm too afraid to cancel!

you don't need to as long as you can get access to another one... Quote:
take the leap of faith..you wont regret. i wouldn't post unless if i didn't get it myself. |
Signed up in December so I don't want to risk losing my sub by trying to extend another 2 months.
|
Works fine. Just need a .edu email as before.
|
Quote:
ys its not really needed for you since you only will gain 2 months... but it will still work if you want those 2 months. |
Confirmed that this works. Thanks SO much! This is an incredible deal.

Confirmed working. No risk at all! Just must have access to your .edu email address!

Do we have to do this now? Or can we delay the extension for later?

Awesome, another year. Wonder how much longer my old edu email address will work :p

Be careful, if you were quick enough this summer to share your student account with others, you may not be able to again if you cancel and then reopen your account
|
thanks, worked for me!
|
THANKS! Worked for me, extended for another year!
|
When you cancel. Will all of your family members be removed from your list? If that is the case, you can't re-add them since you have a student account. Anyone know?

Thanks, worked for me! I'm really enjoying this service. Amazon is now the first place I look for when I purchase stuff. If Amazon's free streaming for prime gets to the size of Netflix, I may just become a full fledged Prime member.
|
Great!!
Thanks..It works........actually registered in July '10......now got 7 months extra..!! ends in Feb 2012..... :bounce::bounce:
|
Worked for me! Thanks a lot!
|
when they first started free student prime, you were able to share.
i can confirm that after canceling and re-starting student prime, the people i had shared the account with are still there and active |

|
worked for me :)
|
CRAP
DOES NOT WORK WITH australia.edu :( |
I did it back in July, but why can't i just wait for June or July of this year then cancel and re-apply so i can get even more time out of it?
Is it just like a one day event or something? |
Thanks OP!
|
Watch amazon cancel signups and say "you got punked!!" to the 1000 of us stuck in no prime limbo :lmao:

Worked for me, thanks!!
Note for others: it was not instant in my case, took about 5 mins for the confirmation email from Amazon, one of the most never racking 5 mins LOL |
This is what i am going to do?
|
Worked Great! took less than 5 mins.
Membership Valid thru 2/28/2012!!! Reps to the OP |

does work now, this is auto renew right?
|
worked for me ! thanks : D
|
Does not work with australia.edu addresses anymore
|
60 seconds of my time - over 10 extra free months of Prime for students. Nice!
Membership: "April 14, 2010 - February 28, 2012" |
Worked for me. Thanks OP! Repped.
|
I have to admit, I was very hesitant about cancelling my membership to renew it, but it worked. All done in less than 30 seconds.
I also just transferred to another university, so when my first one expires one year from NOW, I'll have another year after that. Woot! |
Also, if you have multiple accounts that are not under prime. Use the Student Prime link and sign in under the account that is currently not under prime with your .edu address. Confirm it with your .edu account and you now have another prime account. Not that you need two accounts but its good to have another back up prime account.

I can't remember what .edu email address I used last time, is there a way to look it up? lol
|
Worked for my indiana.edu.
Got that extra 9 months, thanks much. repped. |
Nice. Had a scary moment where it wouldn't let me sign up again in Chrome, tried again in IE and it worked.
|
It worked
It worked, however, you're getting 7 mos extra, not a year.
My membership was set to expire in July of 2011 and was extended to February 2012. Thanks! |

Great..
E-mail is not a valid .edu address. This is the same .edu address that I just canceled. I got the cancellation email, but not the verification one. Just great. |

Awesome. Another confirmed workings.
Got prime up until Feb 28 2012! Wondering if I should have waited until the very end of my last one before I did this, but can't take the risk of it disappearing in the future. Besides, 7+ months is good enough for me for now |

FYI, I got away using my .alumni.edu address back in August. As I tried to re-enroll, it will not allow ".alumni." in the email address.

Worked for me as well.. great ! thanks op!~

thanks. got it =]

I am breathing a huge sigh of relief right now. Took at LEAST 5 minutes and submitted info twice and requested email to be resent (which might have done the trick cause I received the email right after that.)
|
Signed up with chrome. Worked great. Thanks OP
|
Almost didn't work! I canceled then never received the confirmation email and started sweating (yes, i checked the spam box). Had to resend, then everything was A-OK!

Excellent! It hiccuped twice, nearly giving me a heart attack as I'd renewed only four months ago, but then went through successfully the third time. Huzzah!
|
worked for me... thanks and repped!
|
Very risky if they decide to void everyone with extensions till 2/28/2012.
Was this work around mentioned by amazon? I'm sure they will extend the student prime program. |
Is there a contact number for Amazon Student Prime? I tried mulitple times to register my account with my .edu email and I never receive one. Thanks in advance.
|
To be sure, I retrieved my old edu userid and password and verified before I canceled the existing membership. Now the membership is extended until next year.
|
Worked thanks n repped

How do you check your Prime membership status?

thanks and repped, although i wonder why we had to do this now and not in july

no problem, though I did a typo too the first time...

I'm pretty sure it extends your "invitees" Prime expiration dates as well. When I logged onto my "invitee" account, said:

Anybody else get this message with their cancellation? "Since you only used your Amazon Prime benefits on a few items, you will receive a prorated refund of $59.25 for the remaining months of your membership. Your refund should be processed within the next 2-3 business days and will appear as a credit on your next credit card billing statement. If your latest membership charge is still processing, we'll issue the refund as soon as the charge is completed." I had prime originally free under student promotion, no clue why they are saying I will receive a refund... |
worked

I use my edu account, it did NOT renew, |
Awesome!
Thanks OP. Just got an 8 month extension. Repped. Grush. |
It works.... I was pretty afraid myself but this came at a great time for me since my membership was going to be up in a couple of months.
Thanks for the info! As long as you can access your .edu address to confirm, you're good to go! |
nice job OP. it works. Guys dont be nervous about doing it. worse case you can email amazon and tell them your kid accidentally canceled your membership if they can re-instate it. No biggie if it doesnt work. Anyways, it DOES work so dont have any fear.
|
EPIC...thank you very much!
|
used firefox to cancel, chrome to sign up. worked! holla. thx and REPPED!
