IMO 55" is just way too much unless you're sitting 15 feet from the TV. The market value definitely isn't $2000, but this is still a good deal.

uzma 03-01-2011 07:46 AM

Awesome deal...I bought this last week from Costco for around $1650 + tax...planning to return that and get this!! very good TV...

Agreed! I wish this deal was for at 46" or 47"...

senormoll 03-01-2011 08:08 AM

it's also $1350 at tigerdirect [tigerdirect.com], which saves tax for most people, and you can get $30 back with 3% cashback at f*twallet

Also, if you register an email address with tigerdirect they'll give you $10 off your next order. Just visit the page without being logged in.

EDIT: didn't notice...its a refurb. :vomit:

Vizio makes execellent tv but they're very bulky and ugly. They really need some design cue from Samsung to slim everything down.

ParticleJG 03-01-2011 08:16 AM

This TV was on sale for the same price 2 weeks ago. I wonder if getting the newer model is worth $200-$300?

Fastblack 03-01-2011 08:42 AM

I picked up this tv a few weeks ago for 1100 from a local retailer. It is a GREAT TV. The vizio apps are amazing, and work really well with the slide out keyboard remote control. The quality in netflix and hulu plus is just as good as the PS3, streams perfectly fine with no hiccups over Wireless. As far as looks, it might not be as pretty as a samsung, but it looks great hanging on the wall. One thing though, this thing is heavy. I had a 52" DLP before, and this thing is heavier, must be 80lbs or so.

edit: looked at the site, i guess its 86lbs

Well let it be known that full array led-lcd are typically thicker than edge lit lcd. Aka samsung 2010 models. Also let it be known that full array typically perform better than those same models.

samsung made a full back-lit led b8500 in 2009 and it was still significantly thinner than this tv.

Have you seen their razor leds? I know it's not 1080p, but I love my 32 inch... : http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E320V...190&sr=1-1

The sound is not superb, but I've gotten used to it as it is just a bedroom tv... I also have it hooked up to a logitech system, but rarely use it. Boy is this thing thin as paper. I like to just look at it in awe.

BTW nice deal on the 55"

it is 2 different models XVT553SV v XVT552SV

People do not buy XVT552SV model

senormoll 03-05-2011 10:22 AM

Just an FYI... it's down to 1339 now. So stupid how they trick you into a "daily deal" just to lower the price even more afterwards lol

yup, don't need nor want it. Not sure what model yet, hoping it's a ipad 2 with the wifi/3g for max cash. Probably tossing it on ebay day we get it.

monkeybiz 03-10-2011 03:03 PM

Nice price. I don't have the specs in front of me but I believe the newer XVT has more local dimming zones, better contrast and keyboard on the remote, BT or IR. They were just discussing it today in the xvt3 thread. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/sh...3&page=137
I've see the XVT go on sale at Costco occasionally since it's the '09 model. I'm very happy with my XVT473sv which strangely enough has more dimming zones then the same 55" version.

This one has a keyboard. Not sure about the rest. Is there a B&M place I can get a price match on this? Curious, I love to haggle.

Besides Dell the only other retailers that I am aware of are Walmart, Costco and Sams. Amazon might do a price match. My 473 was sold by Target on black friday for $980 shipped but not sure they carry it in B&M.

Ok thanks... Walmart matches but they don't list it on their site... the others don't at least Target and Amazon, not sure about Sams or Costco (don't have account). Oh well, I was hoping to score a 12 or 18 mo same as cash with some haggling, usually you can get these guys to toss in a wall mount and discount it a little to make up for the taxes.

monkeybiz 03-10-2011 07:51 PM

whoa, it shot back up to $1,999.99! That's 3D territory. I noticed Target has it through Amazon $1,599.99
+ $99.99shipping
Maybe you could talk them into the free bulleye shipping like I did if you really need it. For that money I think you could find the Cnet Best XVT553sv and even that is getting hard to find.

Dell Price $1,299.99

I was just at Target and checked out the apps, remote and such... I'm sold on the Vizio TV now to find the right one for the right price, only looking at 55". Couple years ago I wouldn't have even looked at the Vizio brand.
