mfr model says "G tablet". is that the same? i guess not. unless someone confirms upon pickup, i have to say this is the regular price for the older G tablet.

dude123 03-11-2011 12:26 PM

too bad its android 1.6

ragtag 03-11-2011 12:30 PM

It's a G-Tablet. Not the newer Viewpad 10 with dual boot.

a rooted nook color is a better value

slusser.sc 03-11-2011 12:44 PM

Sorry bubba but that has Android OS 2.2 not Windows 7 and Android dual boot. Good try though. There is nothing even close to this price out there I checked. This is the comparable one on Amazon.

Wrong item description, I think

The description on the Sears webpage is of the dual-boot Viewpad 10. But if you look at the item number under the title, it says

"Sears Item# 00382001000 | Model# G Tablet"

The G Tablet is an Android 2.2 only device with a 1 ghz Cortex, not a 1.66 Atom. A nice device, sure, but a web search reveals $400 is a competitive price, not a steal. If they give you a Viewpad 10 for that price -- kudos.

slusser.sc 03-11-2011 12:56 PM

I saw that also but they have the G tablet already posted on sears.com for 379.99 and it has a different item number then the one saying Viewpad.

G Tablet Link [sears.com]

So either they have 2 G tablets posted for 2 different prices or this is what they say it is in the description and it is the ViewSonic ViewPad 10

Worse that can happen is they send me the G Tablet and I have to return it for being the wrong item.

Both items are G-tablets. The item you linked is a G-Tablet sold by 6Ave. The item in the topic is sold by Sears and is a G-tablet product number with an incorrect product description. There are two diferrent listings because the sellers are different.

Why would you even buy this? Way better off getting a ipad 1. This this is horrible, i wouldn't pay $100.

Nope. The G-Tablet is actually a great piece of hardware with fantastic custom roms and Honeycomb is coming soon. I prefer it over an iPad.

You'd be stupid not to pay $100 because you could easily sell it for $300 and make a $200 profit.

Quiet down. You wouldn't want to get that other user who was crowing about owning iPad one in the Xoom thread and thought all iPad haters either needs to save welfare checks to afford one or needs to go steal one. That guy was a real class act I have to say, very fitting of the term "Apple worshiper"(and he adamantly denies it) :lmao:

abeln2672 03-11-2011 09:43 PM

I might swing over to my Sears tomorrow to see if they actually have these in stock. If so, I might pick it up just to mess around. I love the idea in theory--a dual boot tablet...cool--but the reviews on these things are truly terrible. Android 1.6 (yuck)...somebody on another board asked why they didn't include Windows 95 as well!

Not everybody has the same preference, some people prefer iPad some don't

I ordered this and did a store pick-up. When I got there, they gave me the froyo (2.2) edition not the dual-boot. 1.6 is plain, yet it runs all the apps I regularly use on my Nexus. (There just isn't Flash, but Windows fixes that.)

I had them reorder it online. Both have the same Sears SKU. I will see if I get the correct one later this week.

Side Note: When they ran it through the store account, I only paid 4% tax instead of my original 7.9%.

abeln2672 03-12-2011 10:59 AM

I went to my store this morning and all they had were the G-tablets. This is clearly a product description error on the Sears website. That said, if anyone manages to score a ViewPad, more power to ya--that'd be a sweet price.
