Used this set all through college... so much ramen was consumed off of it...

shwaa 03-20-2011 04:17 PM

Corelle is awesome! I have been using it for as long as I remember. My Mom has some that are older as I am so over 30 years.

cyfan 03-20-2011 04:17 PM

LOL, my order was $60 for 3 sets...and $62 in shipping. And I'm Amazon Prime!!! WTF is that?

ur buying from the wrong seller then. make sure it says 'sold by amazon.com, eligible for prime shipping'.

Parabolic 03-20-2011 04:23 PM

Aren't these normally like $25 new? I've had a set for years and they've held up well. Lightweight, strong and durable, it is money well spent.

So this deal is just about $1.50 cheaper than the everyday price at Target ?

AggieMom 03-20-2011 04:42 PM

Ah, Corelle... You get 2 bounces free, the third will cost you. You can drop it twice - the third time it shatters into a million tiny pieces. All except the Corelle logo.

We bought a set to use instead of our heavy as hell Pfaltzgraff wedding plates. Love it and will expand the set we've got!

ripcurl 03-20-2011 04:42 PM

I thought this set had been at this price for a while now?

I see no where that says sold by Amazon and I see nothing that says free shipping under any condition. If it was sold by Amazon, then they are apparently sold out.

BillyMays 03-20-2011 05:29 PM

jc penny have same price.

Mot 03-20-2011 05:38 PM

Was just looking at the page - it was actually $20.00 before correct? Cause now it is $19.99, an even slicker deal?

Don't worry. Pretty soon everyone will be paying Taxes for online purchases no matter where you live. The Gov is in the process of changing the Laws so they can do that.

Yeah, with the GOP in the House taxes are going to shoot up all over the place.

Do you post BS in all the forums you visit or are you making a special effort just for us?

JSinger 03-21-2011 07:08 AM

Just be aware that the cups are not made of the same material as the rest of the dinnerware and are slightly darker in color, too. Ug-o, in fact. You can yard sale the mugs, though, or donate to charity and keep the rest.

Still a hot deal as I just love my Corelle Winter Frost White! Use it as my everyday dinnerware and have been very happy with it's durability over the past 10 years or so. :D

LOVE it too, that's what I have. Though I think the bowls in this set are too small, not really a great size for anything other than cereal. I went to one of the outlet stores in our state, and avoided the mugs (do not like them at all) and they had a deal on corelle at the store for the loose pieces, if you bought at least 20 of them you got 40% off the lowest ticketed price. I also had a $/$$ coupon from AAA from the store so it wound up being a great deal. I was able to get the large platters and serving bowls, the deeper rice bowls and other small bowls. Really got a large variety and it was at an awesome price.

We've dropped them about 15 times and have only broken 3 and those three times were all bowls. I mean, my cat once knocked over a plate from the countertop onto our ceramic tile and it was fine! :omg: Of course, if it does break it really shatters. But, they are lead free and surprisingly durable considering!

I had just read the following article ... that's all. Not all our Gov. says is BS and "sometimes" it is true.

Well of course the states are trying to collect more tax, doesn't mean that they're going to succeed. What you seemed to be suggesting is that the US gov't was going pass legislation to enable states to collect sales tax on internet purchases, that's what I was calling BS on. On the basis of your reply I take back what I said. The states have got a hard road ahead of them trying to collect sales tax on the internet.

CyberCosmiX 03-21-2011 10:27 AM

I'm using the exact same (winter frost Corelle) that I ordered from amazon for $17.99 back in November, '09. This is the first set of Corelle I've ever owned, there are pluses and minuses.

The plus is the light weight and the fact that after almost a year and a half they still look literally brand new - not a scuff on any (the mugs are stoneware, not Corelle material BTW).

Now for the minus, as a regular 'guy', I'm not the most careful person. Sometimes, I'm a bit gruff in handling plates and stuff, probably from having grown up with stoneware type settings that have more weight/bulk to them. However, in about 16 months or so I've broken 3 pieces, two of the small plates and one of the bowls. The bowl was a fluke, happened while washing dishes but the two small plates happened in normal setting down on the kitchen tile counter motions. This is crazy, I've never had that happen with stoneware. Once was weird, but twice?

Overall I'm relatively happy, but now handle them with a lot of care, which is ironic because most people get them because of their resilience. Just thought I'd inform people getting them for the first time of what to expect.

Yes, we use the regular bowls for ice cream, but the "pasta bowl" size for everything else. We love it. It's available individually at Walmart for a decent price--in fact, it was less than I saw it at the outlet store.

I actually liked buying the pieces separately since, like you say, the little bitty bowls are not as useful as the larger ones. I think you mean what's referred to as "berry bowls" and I use mine mainly for serving ice cream or small salads. I bought the big bowls at a Walmart that was moving and got them pretty cheap ( 8 of them ), although probably not anywhere near as cheaply as you got yours, and I also bought 8 of the "luncheon" plates which are smaller than the regular dinner plates that came with my sets, as well as 4 divided plates ( for my God-children and my nephew who don't want their food touching. :lmao:)

Just recently I purchased 2 large and 6 small ( meat/serving ) platters to round out my two original sets to my liking. The small platter is great for snacks or sammitches. I do hate not having cups to match, though. My ex-Girlfreind used to make fun of me for always keeping an eye out for more Correlle Winter White on sale cheap whenever we went shopping!

You're right, though. They are great and sturdy dinnerware and I love that they go with any color!!
