I used this and it was a breeze.

H&R Block Deluxe Federal + State e-file software, $23.75 [amazon.com]

NY Times review of this, comparing it to Turbotax and TaxACT [nytimes.com]
"For people with straightforward finances — a salary and some investment income, a mortgage and common deductions — any of the leading ones should work." H&R is far cheaper than Turbotax, however.

I think a decent percentage of people file late, especially if getting a refund. I figured this deal might be useful for them.

Another late filer. When this software carried the name TaxCut, I found a version of it real cheap or free the last five years. Not for TY 2010, though. I had to buy the H&R Block tax software at amazon.com this year for $23 and change.

Ahh..... no, not really. Many people file extensions. In CA, you don't even need to file an extension. Everyone get's an automatic extension. So the real tax day is not 4/18, it's 10/18.

pyrotekneks 04-19-2011 08:52 PM

Really? Tell me more about this automatic extension.
