Yeah saw this at my costco Saturday as well for the same price... wonder if it's any good cause the price seems great?

JackScagnetti 05-17-2011 02:27 PM

does isolate usually have that many carbs?

btw your favorite team is going down... and Lebron needs to get some class.

grand_ra 05-17-2011 02:36 PM

this is BC. PASS!!!

gizzmo 05-17-2011 02:43 PM

I just bought this for $23 a couple weeks ago. Very good stuff. Tastes MUCH better than the ON (sweeter since it has fructose). Plus, it's all whey protein isolate, rather than a mixture (as is used in ON). I think it has 110 calories per serving with 20g of protein. (ON has 120 calories per serving with 27g of protein, I think.)

For $10, this is a great deal. Thanks OP!

ebill_03 05-17-2011 03:33 PM

110 calorie for 20g protein sounds worse than 120 calorie with 27g protein to me.

Bulls > cHeat, Lebron doesn't have enough help, how many superstars does he need to win the championship, 4? 5? 8?

Not sure what this post means. Can someone decipher it? If I could get ON Isolate for $3.30/lb I would definitely buy it, but I don't think I'll wait for that.

The point you missed was that ALL of that 20g of protein is "whey isolate" versus only a fraction of the 27g of protein in the ON brand. So, even though the ON has a greater concentration of protein per serving, it has a lower bioavailability (you're more likely to shat out that extra 7g of protein without using it).

I don't know about stealing the deals.. I usually miss a lot. They have about 3 to 4 cases left there between the two flavors. Expiration of 6/2012. I got 4 tubs.

iljo 05-17-2011 07:07 PM

Will check my local store tomorrow! Fingers crossed cause I love this stuff!

I was j/k'ing, but there are some hardcore deal hunters in this town, according to some target employees i spoke with a few months ago when searching for a deal on a clearance item i saw posted on here. turns out, these nudnicks make their rounds at the two local target stores every morning (right when the stores open) and clean out all of the really good clearance deals. after hearing that, i gave up.

thanks again for the heads up on this. the customer service person said they have like 90 tubs left in stock, and, unfortunately, it's an item that they will no longer sell. too bad, since it's a very high-quality product.

I was looking around for some reviews of this brand and found this:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/sho...t355585811

Could it be possible that this is the reason why Costco is taking the brand off their shelves?

No, it's how Costco ended up with so much for so cheap.

Not to get into any hardcore debate, but for anyone that spends a lot more for WPI over WPC thinking they are getting a better product, I wouldn't waste your money. You do get 90% protein instead of 80% and there's a higher BV value, but the cost difference rarely can make up for that and ultimately you can just take a little more (like 2g more per serving) WPC to offset that. For a protein intended for instantaneous digestion like WPI is often marketed, you should instead spend your money on a free form amino acid complex. Instead of buying protein, where amino acids are bonded to each other, you are getting aminos that are not bonded, therefore an extremely high BV value and extremely fast digestion. You want that fast digestion for pre workout and post workout. For those of you that take a scoop of whey before you workout but then feel bloated, full, or sick to your stomach while you workout, the free form aminos will fix this.

I'm only talking to the people that are serious about their supplements by the way. If you are just looking for a little extra protein in your diet, let price make your decision. Otherwise, your best bet is Hydrolyzed Whey (87% protein, just under WPI and the same price as WPC), and free form aminos.

I currently get the aminos on ebay of all places. Ajinomoto is the best brand by a long shot.

BlkBimM3r 05-18-2011 02:39 AM

thanks for the heads up!!! Will look for this next time I go to Costco this weekend.

iljo 05-18-2011 10:12 AM

Found the last ones at my store! Thanks for the post!

ecko 05-18-2011 10:32 AM

If someone wants to buy a few of these for me I'll pay for shipping. My costco doesn't have em =/

That was 2 years ago.

And they obviously cleaned up their act if they are still in business and I'm sure watched like a hawk these days because of it.

And for those on the WPC vs WPI debate, I posted this for the BIG savings it is over all the whey proteins combined. Sure hydrolyzed would be great or ON for that matter. Find me that for $3.30/lb. That's the point of this board.

EJM 05-19-2011 05:29 PM

Checked both Costcos in Colorado Springs and they don't have it. Sucks because I really wanted this deal.:(

aviinc818 05-19-2011 08:02 PM

Nanuet Ny had about 5-6 this evening. Line was insane so I didn't buy. Will be going back to by 2 tomorrow.

nospammer 05-19-2011 09:51 PM

none at olympia & they raised the price on the only whey they sell from 28.99 to 36.99 (muscle milk 6lb

98199 05-20-2011 01:29 AM

Price confirmed here in Seattle, grabbed 6 tubs (1 case) today...there were another 4 or 5 cases left...got charged sales tax though which sucks..I thought protein fell under food classification..whatever..

the store I visited was the one on 4th avenue south in Seattle, 98134

Thanks OP!

aviinc818 05-21-2011 09:35 AM

picked up my 3 bottles. Thanks OP

zenrunnernh 05-26-2011 10:50 AM

Thank you for the info! I had bought this product at the Costco in Nashua and was trying to find more. After reading the info at that link, I am NOT using this anymore. Thanks so much! I appreciate it. :)

cartertucker 05-26-2011 11:05 AM

they ran out in most MN costcos last week. I think they had some in Maplewood only as of last weekend.

nomadpp 07-23-2011 08:45 PM

Got 4 tubs from a costco in northern va. they still have plenty left.

if anyone is hesitant because of the fda failed inspection allegations, i've looked into the issue and found that the company producing this batch of powders is totally different from the one that was busted by fda 2 years ago (busted one was in NJ, this new company is in PA). also, thumbs up for the all natural sweeteners in this one. i haven't tried it yet so don't know how the taste would compare to ON 100% whey.
