I would really like to know who just gives thumbs down for no reason. Makes no sense when this is $200 cheaper than anywhere else right now.

anyone jumping on this?

havanagila 05-19-2011 01:31 PM

looks like a good deal!! but lack of $$ here and no need for another tv now :P

barryri 05-19-2011 01:37 PM

I'm holding out until the end of the summer (need to be the room remodeled for it too). I'm sure there will be more price drops during the summer since the economy is dropping again and old inventory needs to get moved before the Christmas shopping season starts. Good deal though if you are ready for it right now.

TekkenLord 05-19-2011 01:37 PM

It really only breaks down into a limited number of different types of folks that TD this TV. One reason might be that they work for a competitor, either manufacturer or retailer. Another reason might be a lack of funds. My guess? He/she waiting for Black Friday of 2014 when they can buy one for $799.

$2200 is not a good deal for a 2010 LED especially since reviews state the D7000 trumps the C8000. You can get the D7000 with 3D starter kit and blu ray player for cheaper than $2200 right now. Any chance you can return the C8000?

I bought the UN55D8000 (2011 LED model) for $2529 at us-appliance..

It came with a Samsung BD-D5500 3d Blu ray player and the 3d starter kit (two extra pairs of glasses + five animated 3d movies (Shrek 1-4 + Megamind))

Thumbs up cause i like the new features. Bought my c series last summer I dont think I will do an upgrade until 2012.

skady 05-19-2011 02:01 PM

good price!

do they have a similar deal on the PN59D8000?

HenrySsy 05-19-2011 02:14 PM

you guys predict the price will ever go down for the UN65C8000? if not, i'll just settle for this.

I didn't do the TD - but it might simply be because there is no listing in title of what this is.

To be honest - I saw the US Appliance and Samsung and thought it was a fridge or something.

Maybe put TV in the title??

trojanvirus 05-19-2011 03:26 PM

Don't forget the "plasmas are old tech and not as good as LCD's" contingent. :bounce:

Crosstalk?

Anybody have any real-world experience with crosstalk on this unit? I've got a Sammy 55" LED and I'm less than thrilled with the separation.

MajorMayhem 05-19-2011 03:50 PM

I really want to buy a >60" model and this is tempting. Any word on the time frame for their full 1080p passive 3d models? (those reduced def passive ones from LG and Vizio out now suck in 3d mode)

If it's more than two years I might bite.

Not an accurate statement. Over last few years, plasma tech has changed and improved, and has capabilities that LCD does not have (e.g. better viewing angles)
... consumer reports had a nice little write-up on the differences, not sure if it is available to non-subscribers.

CBTG 05-19-2011 04:11 PM

Great deal if you can actually get the TV.

I ordered the C8000 from US Appliance earlier in the year and it took them a month to tell me it was out of stock. Be prepared for the run around if you pull the trigger.

theanimala 05-19-2011 04:12 PM

I say this deal is hot. 6 months ago I got the 63c8000 for $2629 including shipping and tax as they were getting rid of them. Only paying $100 more and not waiting until they are closing out the unit is a good deal. I did get 1 year no interest which is nice, but I didn't expect the d8000 to hit this price for quite some time.

Ps, I LOVE the 63c8000, no regrets I didn't get the 65vt25 that panny epp cancelled on me.

It's sad to hear the passive TVs suck. I don't want to bite on Active shutter 3D. Passive works well in theatres, they will get there.

Otherwise, this TV is slick if you cannot wait :)

nobody can tell the future, but reading in recent home theater mags I got the impression Panasonic wants to keep active technology because it's superior, and others are saying passive is not anywhere near where active is in terms of resolution.

So... if you care about 3d I imagine getting a model this year is okay. Theres limited content of course. But then again, this technology is very new to the market. I wouldn't bet on it staying the same very long.

I guess you missed the part where I was "piling on" to the list of reasons people would TD this deal. I am aware that it's not accurate.

AnttEater 05-19-2011 04:43 PM

I don't understand how this is a good deal? What is the difference between this Samsung tv and the 50'' 3D Plasma with two free pairs of glasses for 780 a few months back? (Besides the extra 14 inches, and does an extra 14 inches warrant 1900 dollars increase in price?)

This is a 2011 top of the line model, if you were to look at the 2011 51 inch top of the line model, your still talking $1700. This is a very nice TV if you can afford it.

redice 05-19-2011 05:08 PM

wow great deal, got a d7000 for roughly a little less.

nudicles 05-19-2011 05:19 PM

Any input on mounting this? I have a Sony XBR9 series 52", paired with an NT-TVM108 from Init for mounting (it's rated for 30-50", but suits my 52" fine). Weight rating is 130lbs, so this would be under the weight limit. But dimensions-wise, am I unlikely to get it to fit with my current mount?

Sounds like the customer service is pretty crappy from what everyone is saying, shouldn't rely on the "Free 30 Day TV Return" policy?

I'd pull the trigger, but installing a new mount would be a dealbreaker for me. *jealous*

3rdnfnlbst 05-19-2011 06:21 PM

Actually, I have to disagree with you here. In my case, I have gotten GREAT customer service from them. Sorry your experience was bad; however, they are definitely on my short list of companies to deal with for pricing, and customer service. My only minor gripe with them is that their delivery is a little slower than others; however, for what you save, it is worth it.

And, to OP...nice deal. Too bad I live at 7000 feet and Plasmas are out for me....Samsung says I'm 1500-2000 ft too high and will get buzzing. Panny supposedly makes them good to 9000 feet; however, I've had A/V guys tell me that they buzz at 7000 just the same....so I went off to compare the D8000 LED vs the HX929 from Sony....and the winner was the D8000!

Elpee 05-19-2011 06:30 PM

Just for watching 3D movies in my dark living room and don't care much about power consumption. Should I buy this or a ~ 64" LCD TV? My wife just approved and funded me money to upgrade the current one in living room.

Good deal on this set though, got the PN64C8000 from US Appliance last July. It buzzed a heck of a lot so I called an complained to Samsung who said they would ultimately replace it with a D8000 instead, that was supposed to be in February then April and now they said they won't have any till June...

Just a FYI - due to the number of complaints they received from their primary shipping company (Home Direct?), US Appliance changed to different company this year and the early feedback has been positive.

The inexpensive 50" are 720p for starters, different filter, different contrast, different processor, different bezel, built in wifi, SmartTV, glasses in the box, qwerty remote with full browser, and oh yea, it's 14" bigger

Nope. The one that I got was 1080p. The PQ is among the best that I've seen.

If I was considering a GT I would certainly consider the ST as well. I'd be interested to know the price on the larger ST30's.

A lot of people are knocking the VT30 in favor of the plasma D8000's because of price, but the 65ST30 would be cheaper than both i would think. Just wish panasonic wasn't so hardpressed to control prices and release slow.

I wouldn't say that passive tv's suck. I have the 55" LG LED from fry's B&M deal and I thoroughly enjoy the passive 3d on it. It's not great when combined with inferior input source (i.e. cable programming) it is a very enjoyable experience when teamed with a gaming system or 3d blu-ray. I don't even notice the drop in resolution with the blu-ray.
At this point my main gripe with 3d is the motion blur that is prominent in fast moving scenes. The headache and eye fatigue experienced with active 3d is gone and it seems much more natural viewing while providing an element of depth to the picture. I have viewed both active and passive and my brother just went to fry's tonight to get the 47" LG passive 3d set before the sale on it ends after watching a movie on my TV tonight (he currently has a 51" samsung 3d plasma which he is going to return).
Anyways hope this is useful for anyone that is intrigued by the passive 3d concept. You can truly have 8 people watching the tv and enjoying themselves on glasses that cost under $10 each. Add that to not worrying about the side effects of active 3d and it was a no brainer to me, even though I would love to have a plasma set for the superior motion processing/image quality.

Awesome deal. Both my brother and I jumped on this. This is like a year end close out price in the middle of the product life cycle. I wish there was a free 3D Bluray player, but it's a great deal, nonetheless. It seems that most of the complaints about US Appliance stems from slow shipping times. I'm ok with that. I really wasn't planning on buying a 64" tv right now anyways. I don't mind waiting a few weeks if I'm getting it at this price!

A lot of complaints from a few months ago about US-appliance shipping was with their old policy and shipping company. The used to have a 48 hour cancellation policy and would not ship until after the 48 hour window. Some people can't read and started complaining when it didn't ship a couple hours after they paid (some people are just unrealistic). They also had problems with the carrier they used and have since switched and offer free white glove delivery and now offer a 30 day return policy. I am not sure if they dropped the 48 hour cancellation window with their new policy or not.

Dead?

This is looking dead to me unless I'm missing something. I added it to my cart "for current price" and I'm seeing $3799. Sigh....

As stated in the OP you have to enter valid CC info to see the price drop.

Then don't buy from them. There's no need to pull up a 6 month old thread highlighting your whiny behavior over an order for a $100 blu-ray player. It's been stated multiple times: they've changed shipping companies.

At the end of the day, they have the best price, the best price matching guarantee, the best white glove/in-home delivery service, and they've equaled Amazon's 30 day free return policy.

I'll take my chances.

JabberWockey 05-20-2011 07:40 AM

Not to derail this thread, but slightly off topic - does anyone know the status of OLED TVs right now? When can we expect them to come to market fully?

I don't have the link, but Engadget mentioned a few months back every one of the major manufacturers has increased their OLED spend as a % of their R&D budget.

Unfortunately, a 64 inch OLED panel would cost 6 figures today and that's not an exaggeration.

Just want to make people aware of what is possible of happening. I guarantee you some people who bought this deal will get screwed. I'm not sure what their shipping company has to do with saying something is in stock, then not having it in stock, and charging your credit card immediately when the order is placed. Then they lie and say it shipped and when I ask for the tracking number they ignore me. I guess Amazon has spoiled me but that's unacceptable.

Not sure if you were being sarcastic and left off the smiley. It is very unlikely to see anywhere near that price - even at close outs. Last month someone picked up the PN50C7000 $900 on close out. I was watching the C-series very closely starting last summer and the only reasonably close model to drop below $1200 since that time was the PN58C680, which is several steps down.

Thanks for your feedback!

It was that very kind of feedback that led us to:

1. Start using a faster TV carrier and offer free White Glove service with all 40" and larger TVs.

2. Begin offering Free 30 Day Returns, no cancellation fee and 30 Day Price Guarantee.

3. Upgrade real-time inventory tracking to avoid the problems you described.

We are also available on this forum, via email and a live person will answer the phone during business hours to address any questions or concerns.

Thanks for helping us improve.

And do you charge when you ship or do you still charge the card as soon as the order is placed?

A lot of people are knocking the VT30 in favor of the plasma D8000's because of price, but the 65ST30 would be cheaper than both i would think. Just wish panasonic wasn't so hardpressed to control prices and release slow.

While the ST and GT use the same panels the picture quality is not entirely the same. Also, the GT has a really really nice bezel compared to the ST which just looks old and cheap. The VT with 1 pane of glass is $$$ both in terms of looks and price. Performs better than either of the two sets too. I went with a GT.

We've never charged instantly upon order placement. It's not charged until the order gets processed which is usually within 1 - 2 days. It then typically ships within 1 business day of being charged.

I recently placed orders with GNC and Pacsun and my card was charged instantly in both cases - hitting my CC statement within minutes. In both those cases, the order didn't ship for another 2 - 3 days after the charge, so I'm not sure how our system is that much different than many others.

Thanks.

A little off topic but does us appliance sell the pn64d7000? I didn't see it on their website, but maybe I missed something. This is still a little out of my budget and I assume that would be a bit cheaper.

We decided not to carry the Plasma D7000 Series at this time.

Don't hesitate to lemme know if you have further questions.

Gotta agree. I deliver pizzas for Papa Johns and there have been a few times where I've gone to a guy's house only to have him come to the door wearing the nerd 3D glasses. They usually look like they haven't bathed in a week and are watching some nerd crap on the TV The Last Airbender or something terrible.

I pretty much don't know anyone cool or anyone that isn't a total dork nerd that has a 3D television. Probably because the only people dumb enough to fall for it are nerds that think they can impression their internet girlfriends.

I just bought this TV!!
Aw man....I didn't realize it would make me a nerd.

sigh

Sadly, I only wanted it for the start of college football (which, by the way, seems to be taking it's sweet time getting here). Only about 100 days away.

Thank you for responding to this. I recently purchased a Sammy UN55D8000 w/free 3D kit and free 3D Bluray player at a great price from you (actually posted the deal on FW, too!) and was VERY pleased with the email responses, phone responses, and the delivery. I had a minor problem with the free 3D kit and I was promptly taken care of when I called. Gave you a good review on Yahoo and got a nice email from your CS Manager thanking me for the positive review. Your company earned the review. You are on my short list of companies I will consider for those items that you carry. I appreciate your honesty in admitting that there were shortcomings that you had to overcome to provide the service that you felt your customers deserved, AND you fixed those shortcomings and do things like monitor deals forums, etc to constantly continue in your efforts to improve. All the marks of a good company, IMHO.

$50 bucks a night? :omg: :omg: Your e-penis must be huge!!! What's wrong, you can dish it out but can't take it?

And FWIW, I don't own a 3D TV. I'll buy one when the glasses can be passive or no glasses at all. I don't care to wear active 3D glasses.

Right now I use a lowly 65" Panasonic plasma. Probably not near as cool as your REAL MAN TV but oh well. My TV only weighs 147 lbs. My amp only weighs 66 lbs. Some day I'll be as cool as you Mr. Pizza Delivery guy.

PS. I'd like a ham & pineapple pizza delivered pronto! I've got $2 tip ready for ya.

EDIT: Oh and I almost forgot. My sub only weighs 120 lbs. Probably not quite man enough for you either.

$50 a night is serious cash? Yeah, I sit typing away in my office all day...and make more than that an hour. Oh, and btw, I'm ordering this TV now...it may not be as heavy as yours, but I can afford something lighter, with better quality. Perhaps you should ease up on the nerd slamming; chances are, you'll end up working for one some day (or you can keep delivering my pizzas...that works too).

Back on topic, this tv looked amazing. We viewed it at Best Buy and compared it with the Panasonic VT30. They were both great TVs, but my wife and I preferred the color on the Samsung. While I think either would be a great choice, this deal is too good to pass up if you're already in the market for one of them. I can't wait to see the picture once it's been properly calibrated. Thanks also to US Appliance for the posting, it makes me feel confident enough to order with them for the first time after some of the other reviews.

Cool TV you have there. I have the same TV in my family room as well as a 60" LG PK950 in my bedroom that my wife and I watch some adult entertainment on together and enjoy one anothers company. You ever partake in such activities? I doubt it. Sounds like you enjoy your television watching and sound system more than gettin babes and having sweet friends.

P.S. Not only do I have those tv's I also have a 60" Panny plasma in the garage, a 50" pioneer plasma outside, and multiple flat screens throughout my house because hey, thats how I roll.

Dang, this thread got off track quick. Reading this thread is much more entertaining then watching TV on a 64 inch Plasma. :)

jjjjking 05-20-2011 05:07 PM

I just purchased this tv on their site and it showed the $2749 after I entered the credit card info., but the email sent to me showed that my card was charged $3799 and now they are closed and don't open until Monday (which will be after their 48 hour cancellation policy)...I better not get screwed!!!!! Now I'm nervous...I already called my credit card company and changed my credit limit on the card. I want it for the 2700 price, but not the 3700 price!!!:confused:

Relax. The same thing happened to me with them and you won't see the actual 'sale' price until you get the invoice. I freaked like you; however, it was early AM so I called and spoke with a pleasant rep named Ron who looked things over and advised me that the actual price would show when I got my invoice. True to what he said, the invoice showed up in my box two days later with the sale price, showing the discount. I wish that hadn't happened; however, it apparently has something to do with their online software....you'd think they would fix it; however, I've had it happen on other sites as well.

If you look at an earlier post by USAppliance here on this thread, the poster said that they charge the card when they process the sale, at time of invoice, not when you make the order like some companies.

You'll be fine......

I also PM'd you about it. Enjoy your weekend and dream about your new TV!

This thread is getting ridiculous, I hope you know this zand fellow is not serious and you're just fueling his trolling while he's laughing is ass off that people actually think he's serious. Hell, I'm even laughing that people think he's serious, especially when he edited his bathroom TV post

how cum you geeks keep comparing this tv to a 55 inch one? You can't even compare a 55 inch to a 60 inch one. The difference in size is huge.

parrotthead 05-20-2011 08:06 PM

Ok, let's get back on track here. The PN64D8000 is simply awesome. Read additional input at AVS Forum.

Mmmmm...$2749 pull the trigger....or wait

dep411 05-20-2011 08:27 PM

I hear that this does not have mjc can anyone confirm? I believe thatbthe 59d8000 does so I'm a little worrie that the 64 will have a lot of soap opera effect.

[I hear that this does not have mjc can anyone confirm? I believe thatbthe 59d8000 does so I'm a little worrie that the 64 will have a lot of soap opera effect. ]

Answer from another post:

"The recent Consumer Reports review of the PN58C7000 gave the set much praise, but highlighted a major flaw in the out-of-the box settings configuration for the 7000 series plasma...

"We saw an image smoothing effect on all film content, so our film-based content had a more "video-like" appearance. TVs with this feature typically give users the option to turn it off via the on screen menu, but this model did not provide this option."

There are referring to the motion judder canceller. On both the 7000 and 8000 series plasmas, the MJC is set to either standard or smooth out-of-the-box. The 8000 series has a menu option to turn off this processing. The 7000 series does not come with the menu option.

One workaround to disable MJC is to toggle the GAME setting on/off."

Say if I'm just not convinced about this 3D thing.

Would a similar or larger non 3D HDTV be significantly cheaper?

The higher end sets are all pretty much 3D capable. You could get a similar set for cheaper; however, it would not have the bells and whistles that come with the higher end sets and your 2D picture will not be as good, either. Picture quality, however, is subject to you, so you might find a similarly sized 2D only set that meets your criteria and, if so, you would save money.

Many people buy these higher end sets and never use the 3D. They buy them for their 2D picture and processing abilities.

HenryWinkler187 05-20-2011 09:17 PM

I have this set and a LG 60PK950 and the LG 60PK950 blows this mother effer out of the water. I also was able to score the LG 60PK950 for $1660 out the door after bing cashback, which when did bing end? Like a year ago. NOW THATS A SMOKIN DEAL!

minnus 05-21-2011 08:09 AM

What is the pricing trend of TVs of this size? I would hate to get this TV only to have it become 1700 half a year later. I know TV prices are pretty steep to begin with and have tons of wiggle room down, but since I haven't been following TVs, I can't be sure.

This TV wont be sold next year, the E series will replace it next March/April. The cheapest the PN63C8000 (last year's model) went on sale for was for like $2900, this is a great deal as it stands.

It's all in the eye of the beholder when it comes to video quality. You may or may not think the same when you see them side by side. I have friends with nice sets who think theirs is the best and sit and argue over it. Look at both and buy what YOU think is the best. Personally, I would never spend this much money without actually seeing what I was buying. TVs are not a blind buy for me or most in this price range, IMHO.

I was asking this guy, who claimed to own both, why one is much better than the other. And I'm not sure why you felt the need to add the last two sentences.

You can't really take anything HenryWinkler says seriously. IMHO, I have an LG and it has a ton of glare, but the picture is fantastic as long as there is no ambient light.

Maybe it didn't come out the way I was trying to say it...I was not trying to offend or make any assumptions about you. Please accept my apology if you were insulted in any way.

Opinions on deals are great here. For informed specific technical comparisons, look to avsforums etc.; however, even there, you will find trolling fanboy posts that you need to weed out to get to the accurate information. I suppose I was just being a little skeptical of the other posters comments.....and I don't want to see anyone buy based on those comments.

Peace.

Does anyone have any experience with US Appliance and their freight carrier? I ordered this TV and received an email from them today that my TV has shipped. How much longer will it take before I get it in my house? I was hoping it will be here early next week. Thanks for any info you can provide.

They used Pilot with mine (a different Sammy unit). If you follow the link on the email they sent you, Pilot (if that's who they used) has a decent tracking system. It took 7 business days for my delivery; however, I'm 150 miles from a big city with a Pilot warehouse, so I'm sure that added at leaset a day or two. I'm also across the country from US Appliance. The driver, BTW, was quite courteous in my case and the TV box was in excellent shape...no dings, tears, crunches, etc.

So they were willing to let you place an order for the Sale Price even though they are currently out of stock? If that's the case then I think I will give them a call & see if I can place an order.

Thanks for that helpful info. man.

Hmm, I had it in my cart before it was sold out. When I called, they said it should be in stock next week.

My order placed fine. Try online first, if that doesn't work then calling should.

dR6 05-27-2011 09:07 AM

<Sigh> Mine came today... and when I opened it, there was a huge crack in the corner and when we tried to turn it on, it only made a horrible buzzing sound! I called customer service and she was very nice. They have 150 coming in the next 2 weeks. The problem is, they have 253 orders to fulfill. Looks like I'll get my TV in July... totally bummed. I guess I don't get put back at the beginning of the queue because of the damage.

Oh no! You should be the next one sent out! I hope mine gets here in one piece next week. Was yours delivered by Pilot? Were they any good?

dR6 05-27-2011 09:44 AM

Yeah, it was Pilot. The guy was a little old man that could hardly lift the tv. I felt bad for him. I helped him carry it in the house and then reload it on the truck. I'm not sure how he got the tv off the truck by himself. He was a nice guy though. I thought there were supposed to be 2 delivery guys. I remember reading that somewhere.

Now, my only hope is that 103 people decide that they really don't need a $3000 tv in the middle of a recession and cancel their order... that would put me to the top of the list!! :)

Str0ud 05-27-2011 12:24 PM

I checked the Pilot tracking this morning and it said it had arrived at the destination so wanting to get the TV ASAP I called to see if I could go to the airport and grab it. It turns out that once Pilot lands with the order they turn it over to a local delivery outfit. I just got back from the delivery companies office and have the box sitting in my front room. After reading dR6's post I'm afraid to open it.

Str0ud 05-27-2011 12:39 PM

OK , I opened it. No cracks. Installing the base so I can stand it up while I work on getting the old one uninstalled from the mount. Just a heads up, this sucker is HEAVY.

mm60 05-27-2011 04:06 PM

I thought that the white glove delivery included setup of the TV. Does it only include delivery inside the house?

Risingson 05-27-2011 04:08 PM

Ok here's my story.

First of all i've never ordered from US-Appliance before so understandably i'm a little weary about ordering from them until they prove to me that they're a good company to buy from. With that said, they do seem like a legit company. Legit enough in my mind to give them $2700+ of my money.

I ordered this tv last Sunday (5-22-11). Four days later they send me an e-mail telling me that my shipping address was not the same as the billing address on my credit card. Long story short, they want to cover their butts in case there's some fraud going on. That's fine, but it doesn't make the customer's life any easier. Plus it would be a hassle if i wanted to buy something from them as a gift to someone else...

Anyway, on to the tv. I resolved my shipping address issue with them the same day (Thursday). Now it's the end of the work week and i have yet to receive even an e-mail confirming that my sale has been processed. So ultimately i've waited a week, in the dark pretty much, and i still have not technically bought anything from them yet.

What's the hold up and why so slow? Is it cause you shipped out the tv i ordered because of my shipping address problem, even though you said my order was on hold? Am i on the waiting list to receive the tv when you get more in? If so, how would i know any of this unless i came on to this message board and read about it?

It's kind of ridiculous.

Am i spoiled because i've ordered a lot of stuff from Amazon? Yeah, probably. But i guarantee that if i ran in to the same issue with an Amazon order i'd still have gotten the item i ordered by now. Regardless of that, i don't think it's too much to ask to get my sale processed the week i purchase an item.

I have e-mailed them about this issue. If i don't get some decent response after the long holiday weekend, one of you will be getting the tv i ordered a week ago.

Congrats in advance!

I too thought that the white glove delivery included setup of the television. I had to help the guy carry the television in my home (which was no issue). However, when I told him about the white glove service he indicated that was not something he was responsible for. I called US Appliance and they credited my account a paltry sum that while I appreciate, still leaves me with a logistical nightmare on my hands (especially with a 6 month pregnant wife). Hopefully I don't get my brother-in-law over here to help only to find a cracked screen :)

I ordered the PN63C8000 series from US Appliance last year and received it in perfect condition and the entire process was very smooth.

I have to be honest when I say I'm a bit disappointed with the delivery snafu. My past experience was very positive though for those of you considering US Appliance.

I'm in Dallas,TX for those of you wondering where the delivery area was.

Do you have any problems with the picture dimming? I received mine this past Tuesday and my set looks great for the first 20 min but then the picture just gets darker. I turned off the Eco setting and all of the auto adjustments but nothing seems to fix this problem. The dimming is very noticeable whenever the screen has a lot of white on it. I called US Appliance to setup an exchange b/c this tv has great pictures when it's bright, but the dimming is unacceptable to me, especially for this price. Members on the AVS forum loves this set so I'm hoping that this was just a lemon and the replacement will be fine. Thanks for any input you can give.

Originally, they were going to reverse the charges from my credit card once they received the defective tv back and then charge me again when the replacement is shipped. I didn't want to be without a tv for a month, so I asked her if they didn't reverse my charges, could I keep this tv until the new one comes. She talked to a manager & he agreed to let me keep the tv and they'll pick it up when the new one is delivered.

Besides the peeling, did your tv have the dimming issues I'm experiencing? The color on my tv looks washed out and it's not very bright at all.

Colors looked great. I noticed the peeling after watching 8 hrs of tv. Oh well...it had an audible buzz too, so in a way I am glad to return it. Hopefully the replacement is better.

Pilot dropped my tv off on Friday. They just dropped the tv off (I had to help carry it) and left without opening it or anything. It doesn't appear like there is anything wrong with the tv, but if I my wife had meet them at the house then there would have been a much bigger issue. The guy said they have 1 or 2 person deliveries, and this was indicated as a 1 man economy which means they don't set up or mess with the packaging. The invoice reflects that it was shipped economy. I wonder where the disconnect is.

Nice tv, very nice.

Nice tv, very nice.

Congrats on your TV. Here's the condition that my TV box came in. The screen was cracked and the TV did not power on. The Pilot delivery man tried to mark on the invoice that there was "hidden" damage. I went through and marked all over it, stating that there was obvious trauma to the box. I hope this goes back to Pilot, and not to US appliance. When you send one little old man to lift a huge 125 lb box, he's bound to drop it sometime.

I finally got around to getting my television out of the box this weekend. I got it all setup only to realize that there is a black band about 4-5 inches wide that is permanently displayed on the unit. Regardless of the source the band doesn't go away. I'm going to have to setup an exchange or return with US Appliance in the morning. I'm a bit bummed out about this, but a non-functioning television is nothing compared to real world issues. I will survive. I'm sure the company will get this fixed quickly.

Got my TV in earlier this afternoon. They said 1-4pm but the guy showed up at 12:50pm and called me saying he was at the door. So I booked it home and they waited 20 mins for me. The delivery basically entails two guys carrying it inside your home and that's it. They don't open anything.

Would've been nice if they did because the TV is pretty difficult to move around. Not because it's super heavy but I can't even wrap my arms around the thing. Once I had a second person to help it was way easier. The box was in perfect condition though and the TV as well. My significant other helped me set it up in a few mins and we switched it on to Zoolander.

You really get to see the imperfection in TV broadcasting despite being HD. I think it was TNT and that broadcast sucked. The MTV movie awards was done in a much higher quality and I was really able to see how good of a TV it was watching that. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone if you can still get one. I considered the rival Panasonic Plasma but it came out to almost $4000 after shipping.

I'm one happy camper!

Congrats on your tv. I'm glad everything went smoothly for you. I agree that you can only move this monster around with the help of another person. But the screen size more then makes up for it :bounce:

When they delivered my tv, they only sent one guy to my house. I heard the truck pull up outside and I ran outside just in time before he started to pull the tv out. I really don't know how one man can pull this thing off a truck that is about 4 feet off the ground and with no ramp. I imagine he would slide the box to the edge and then try to break it's fall as he pulls it from the truck. I'm pretty sure there have been a few instances of broken tv b/c this shipper decided to cut corners & send only 1 delivery person out.

But I helped him get the tv out of the truck and brought it inside my house. He waited patiently as I unboxed it and connected it to my PS3 to test it out. I even thought about tipping the guy afterwards but then realized that he should be tipping ME for helping him do his job correctly. Physically, the tv was in great shape but the constant dimming got too annoying so US Appliance will replace it for me within the month.

Did you turn Dynamic Contrast and ECO Sensor to off?

I hope you did before returning the TV. This probably would solve your problem.

I think the guy earlier didn't select the white glove delivery option when checking out. That is why only one guy came to deliver it.

I was one of the last to order one of these while they were 'in stock' however it's been 3 weeks now and they tell me they are waiting to get more from Samsung. Pretty upsetting to order such a large item under the assumption you'd get it in 5-8 business days - and here I am 3 weeks later. They tell me they have 'no idea' when they will receive more. Customer service has been pretty weak on the phone.

Working with Samsung is a pain. It's more than likely Samsung can't give them an ETA as opposed to US Appliance holding out on you. If they had a date it would make everyones' lives easier just to tell you. I know a lot of people who've worked with Samsung corporate and it's not a stroll in the park.

Yay, just got off the phone with the Samsung exchange department, getting my PN63C8000 replaced with a PN64D8000 (only took 4 month) so I can be cool like you guys. Hope this one doesn't buzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hope it doesn't peel either, hell the buzz may be better than that..http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973...Main;posts

Oh, and "Bob" the mod on that thread has to be the least helpful individual I have ever run across.

Wow, that's just great. Well maybe I can exchange this replacement D series for an E series next year and just continue the cycle...

Nope, I definitely clicked on the white glove delivery option. I made sure it was highlighted since I'm paying $2750 for a TV and I absolutely wanted it to be delivered with care.

I already tried turning off the Eco setting and all the auto adjustments. The dimming happens mostly in scenes where there are a lot of white on the screen. I've been on the AVS forum to try to get this resolved but with no luck.

My issue is that the TV was in stock when I ordered it. I called almost daily to ensure it was in stock. I was reassured several times that it was in stock and about to be shipped out to me - then after another week I find out it isn't in stock and nobody has any idea when it will be.

Showing back in stock on the website.

dR6 06-13-2011 07:55 AM

Don't get excited. I just called and the CSR told me they still don't have them in stock. No ETA. They are just on order from Samsung. She doesn't know why it says in stock on the website.

TrueGamer01 06-14-2011 01:23 PM

Well I just got of the phone with a customer service rep over at US Appliance regarding my TV and to set up an exchange, I received my TV first week of June and have a peeling set so the screen filter in the top right corner is coming off and each week its getting bigger :(. They want for me to take a photo and submit to them which I found a bit unusual but np with me to send it to them.

businessmachine 06-14-2011 01:43 PM

I got my PN59D8000 last week. It was remarkably fast. I received it after exactly a week. It was delivered by 2 Pilot delivery guys who brought it into my house...helped take the TV out of box and even installed stand ( You have to ask them).

I even played a game of Fifa with one of them. Gave them a $20 tip. Very happy with USAppliance so far. Just hoping that I won't get that famous peeling issue

I've been in contact with them for a while now as I'm waiting on a replacement set. They got their shipment in last Friday so they are definitely in stock. I'm not sure how many they have to send out as replacements though.

I got an email from them yesterday that my replacement tv is on the way. Will probably get it by early next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't have the dimming problems I'm experiencing with my current set.

thinkoutside2 06-14-2011 05:44 PM

Price now $3000

I put my credit card info in and the price is now (and was last night too) $3000.
Its still a fairly competitive price but the extra $250 plus the concern for all the people who have posted about having to do returns for defects kills the deal for me.

Yeah, that was weird. Later that same day, I got an email stating that my TV had shipped. It's scheduled to arrive Monday. Let's cross our fingers that this one arrives in one piece!!

Well they told me that mine would ship out on Monday afternoon but I never got a shipping email so I contacted them yesterday afternoon and was told that they noticed that mine was damaged as it was being loaded so they had to get another on from the storage warehouse sent to the shipping warehouse. Sigh . I'm glad they noticed the damage but I'm bummed that it won't be here for Father's day. For what it's worth, I got my last shipping notification on a Tuesday and had the TV on Friday so you may get lucky.
