Citi Thank You Rewards 10,000 points for $100 Walmart GC
 

I was browsing the Citi Thank You rewards website to look for a good deal and saw that they currently have Walmart at 10,000 points for $100 GC, which doesn't happen often. They usually only have the $25 GC for 3500 points and $50 GC for 6000 points.

They also have Home Depot and Lowes at 10,000 points for $100 too but those have been more available.

First post on a deal. I did a search for Thank you points, Citicards, etc. and didn't pull up anything. If you have any advice on how to write a better post, I would appreciate anyone's input. :lol:

Update 6/20/11: This is good for select cards that gathers Thank You points and not all of them, so YMMV. I have a Citi Forward card that earns 5 points/dollar for restaurants, bookstores and movies, have approx 90K points and the Walmart $100 option shows up when I log in.

Much better cards out there with better rewards points for signing up.

Sure, but that doesn't help much for people who already have a TYP card. Plus, I don't know of any other card that offers 5% on Amazon and restaurants. A Walmart GC is essentially same as cash for the vast majority of people, so while TYPs have certainly been diluted, they're still effectively worth 1 cent a piece.

not showing up for me, only the $25 for 3500 points here.

discover card 1 point give $2 shell credit, 1 point give $1.1 for most stores.
chase is also better than citi

Im getting 5.2 pts per dollar on EVERYTHING for 6 months with a converted citi amex premier from citi amex platinum--- I just came off 6 months at 5 pts per dollar-- I havent seen ANY cards that even come close to this and have been mopping up staples and lowes with gift cards.... This promo just required one phone call to CS and a little hardball...

Did you click on the pull down? It will give you the other options. I just tried on IE and Firefox and both works.

Can you provide more details i got the card 2 years back and got 3x points for 2 years plus 5x in some selected categories along with 20% bonus at the end of the year. Best card i ever had... but after the promo stuck with 1x point on all purchases... would love to get 5x points... whats the prmoo code any more details???

I'm also only seeing 3500 for $25. Which pull down do you mean?

No promo code- I called customer service and told them the premier card is not the equivalent to the platinum amex card- they told me no but i persisted and they offered an additional 4 pts on every dollar plus the 1 you get anyways-- i then signed up for an add on promo they sent me an email about that added .2 pts per dollar...I would kill the card if they told me 1 pt per $...I also spent over 50k on the card annually..

exactly correct. I got $450 worth of wm gift cards three weeks ago by cashing out all my drive rebates(46,000)

Same here! I called last week to cancel a few CITI credit cards. They offered me 5 pts per tranaction to stay for 6 months. I accepted it but I wasn't planning to use the card. Now you are starting to change my mind. The great thing about it is, it's on my Mastercard instead of AMEX. I had the AMEX card also but my kids daycare doesn't accept American Express.

This will work great with my 50,000 points I expect to get from this deal! I agree that Walmart gc at cost is rare and more versatile then most! Hope it's available to me in a few weeks.

This card also gives me 100 bonus points every month for paying on-time and periodically have point promotions where it gives you 5-10% above the regular points. Since most of my regular purchases are at restaurants and Amazon (which is considered a bookstore), and pay on-time, this is personally a good card for me.

I spent years chasing mileage cards but have reduced that (unless the bonus is over 60K) because with airline consolidations, it's now harder to redeem flights and also harder to get more than 1 point per mile.

In my opinion, projecting past the initial bonus rewards (which is a one-time thing), whether a card is good or not varies depending on an individual's regular usage of the credit card as well as what the points can be redeemed for. :)

Does anybody know, if I can use the $100 Walmart gift card to buy another giftcard, or a Visa or Amex gift card?
