Menards Deal Thread - FAR, Rebate, and Sale Discussion Thread

Menards home improvement stores are located throughout the Midwest, with more than 250 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Menards carries materials and tools for home improvement projects from light bulbs and paint to building a deck or a new home. Menards also carries name brand appliances, pet products, lawn and garden supplies, and groceries.

Menards regularly offers FREE and Discounted Items through the use of mail-in rebates that come in the form of STORE CREDIT. At any one time, Menards may have as many as six+ different sale advertisements, making it difficult to follow all the current good deals.

This thread is intended to keep track of all the current FAR, Rebate, and Sale items being offered at Menards - with (hopefully) regular updates to the wiki.

Feel free to edit wiki!

Reminder - rebates are in the form of store credit!

Latest lists of rebates, sale items are posted inline in this thread.

Questions/Answers about Menard's Sales

  • When can I expect new ads to come out (what is their flyer schedule)
    • While Menards used to be 100% predictable on their schedule they have significantly varied things up in the last year, however a few key pieces remain true:
    • 2-week (15 day) Sun-Sun "General": Most common -- starting on a Sunday and running for 2 weeks and ending the end of day on Sunday 2 weeks later, thus 15 full sale days.
    • 1-week (8 day) Sun-Sun "General": Staggered with this, they typically offer an 8 day, starting on a Sunday and running for 1 week and ending the end of day on Sunday 1 week later, thus 8 full sale days. This sale starts exactly 7 days after the 2 week one starts and ends on the same day the 2 week one ends, thus giving 2 sales overlapping.
    • This 1 week staggered/overlapped sale has occassionally been a 15 day sale depending on when they need to adjust due to holidays and other sale promotions in the future.
    • All of these sales are "general" sales, meaning products from virtually every department are offered on sale. However, they give the sale a name and therefore some departments are skewed to have more items featured. Such flyer names include "Construction", "Stock up", "Menard Days" and they reuse these every year or multiple times a year.
    • 1 1/2-week (11 day) Wed-Sun "Themed": In addition to these "normal" sales, they will often (typically once a month) overlap a 11 day sale starting on a Wedsday and running though the following Sunday. These are always department-specific sales such as "Kitchen/Bath", "Landscaping", "Storage", "Garage", "Flooring".
    • 3 day (Fri/Sat/Sun) "Crazy Day": About once every 2 months they run a 3-day weekend "Crazy Days" sale. These run on a Fri/Sat/Sun and also overlap up to 3 other sales. These sales typically offer some really good after rebate prices on things and the deals are normally larger (e.g. more expensive but with big rebates).
    • 1-week (8 day) Sun-Sun "11% Off Entire Purchase Rebate": Completely randomly handful of times a year they run a 11% off entire purchase sale. Except for 1 occassion, these have always been 8 day sales (Sun-Sun). These do NOT overlap any other sale during the week, BUT do overlap on the start and end date(s) which allow you to actually make money on rebate items as the 11% is a stackable rebate.
  • Why do some posters refer to getting sale items earlier than the official start date?
    • Because Menards is located in the upper midwest, and relies on local newspapers or even "mid week" style home town papers to distribute their ads, they sometimes run into places that don't have a paper delivery on a Sunday, or have chosen to send out their ad (perhaps for cheaper rates) in a Saturday paper.
    • Due to this, many stores will 'set' the ad late Friday night/early Saturday morning and their computer is loaded with the prices+rebates as soon as they open Saturday morning.
    • I have personally confirmed this in all 4 North Dakota Stores (Minot/Bismarck/Grand Forks/Fargo), and many Minnesota stores (Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, Hutchinson, Mankato). In fact, I've seen the ad loaded and set in Mankato on Friday evening's before
    • It often varies if the physical paper ad is set by the front doors or on the C/S counter however. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't but you will usally see the new colored signs (one color for each sale ad to aid them in setting/removal of tags at the end of a sale). Peek around by the department stations and sometimes you can spot the new but not readily available ad sitting around if you don't see it up front.

Questions/Answers about Menard's Rebates

  • Menards rebate credit checks do NOT expire
  • Where do I find the rebate forms?
    • After purchasing your items, the receipt will print separate rebate receipt copies, one specifically for each qualifying item
    • Rebate receipts are numbered, and the corresponding numbered rebate forms are available at the service desk or available online Menards website
    • A summary of all rebate numbers will appear on the bottom of your "master" receipt
    • Rebate receipts MUST be turned over when returning an item with a rebate; otherwise they will deduct the amount of the rebate from your refund with no exceptions (obviously)
  • Can you use Menard's rebates to buy other products that have Menard's rebates?
    • Yes, there is no problem with rinsing and repeating
  • How often are there Free After Rebate (FAR) items?
    • They do FAR all the time, usually anywhere from four to ten items per ad each week
  • Can rebates be combined into one envelope?
    • Most rebates can be combined into one address, provided they are being sent to the same address (Typically Box 155 in Elk Mound, WI)
    • Some rebates are sent to different address - double check
    • Make sure you have adequate postage when combining (8 rebate forms + 8 rebate receipts + standard envelope + stamp total appx .6 ounce)
  • Do I still need to spend $10 or more on other non-FAR items?
    • Mendard did away with this requirement in early 2011
  • Can you track your rebates?

Questions/Answers about Menard's Price Match/Coupon policy
  • Does Menards match prices?
    • Yes, bring in the sales ad and receive an additional 11% discount, however YMMV depending on the terms of the competetor's sale. Typically "% off" sales can be troublesome.
  • Does Menards accept coupons?
    • Yes, although internet printables are not accepted at some locations
    • They do not accept "free" product coupons

Where do I find the Items in the store?
  • Look at the first number of the SKU...Here's where you can find them:
    • 1 - Lumber/Building Materials
    • 2 - Tools/Hardware/Automotive
    • 3 - Electrical/Lighting Supplies
    • 4 - Kitchen/Appliances/Doors
    • 5 - Painting Supplies
    • 6 - Housewares/Plumbing
    • 7 - Flooring

Thanks! This will really help keep track of all the rebate offers. I'm just getting started with Menards lately. Wish I had some of my rebates back right now to go spend 'em. Looks like my next bunch should be back in a couple of weeks.

Fondybadger 07-24-2011 07:29 AM

The ad for the "Back to School" sale does not include all of the qualifying items for the $0.09, $0.39, $0.69 AR items. There were different versions of mechanical pencils, protractors, compasses, paper clips, erases, pencil top erasers, etc that were included in those three categories.

For the "Big Sale" ad that started today, I was one of the first in the door, and there was under 20 thermometers available. Plenty of Wisp, hand sanitizer, food savers, and hex key sets

Thanks for the thread.

I haven't done FAR for menards for a while. Did they get rid of the requirement to spend $10 in merchandise before you can get your free's? (I do know a menard gc works for the requirement) TIA

I did when I went to UW, but moved to Milwaukee for grad school in '06. While my location thing says N. Ill. (long story), I'm still in Milwaukee.

Credit needs to go to muffieskids for starting a weekly thread six weeks or so ago. I never knew Menards did rebate deals and always ignored their ads. Absolutely hated the store when I was a kid, and my parents always joked they'd make me go with them as a punishment.

I missed on a lot of stuff from the most recent three day sale going around 1pm on the day the sale started. Menards does a good job of having a lot of stock available initially AND they do get more stock in a lot of times during the sale, but I have been amazed watching the amount of people who are doing all the deals while I'm in the store. Many many more than I see at Walgreens/CVS around here at least.

Kind of curious with school not starting for another month + here if they will still be getting in more school supplies.

Thankful they removed that $10 minimum, would have been a pain in the butt, and a lot more costly otherwise.

Too funny! My kids think that now. They spend alot of time trying to find things to sit on while they wait. It doesn't help that our Menards A/C doesn't work and it is horribly hot every time we go.

At first
I had ideas that it was a mens store(think Tim the tool man), but I have done quite a few rebates in the past 10 years. When I first started going there, I would literally ask the first person I saw to take me exactly where I would find the product. Now I know my way around although many things are in crazy parts like "oh the totes, ya they are in plumbing."

When I was younger, my biggest complaint is that they did not have toys except around Christmas! Probably could make some money on some of those toys, as I got a lot of the original Transformer items from the store. Between early '90s and about 2009, I don't think I was in a Menards. Was really surprised walking in and seeing some of the electronic items, grocery, etc.

Thank you so much for starting this thread! We've needed it for a long time now. You put a ton of work into the wiki and it's very much appreciated... thumbs up and repped!

Quick question; how long do we want to keep expired deals in the wiki? I'd be happy to help edit it when needed but just wanted a little feedback first.

I can relate! When my kids were little it was like pulling wisdom teeth to get them to into Menards. Well times have changed! My two grandaughters LOVE!!! to go - they come home with amazing treasures (or so they think! LOL!)

Here's to hoping they have the free backpacks again this year. I think I got 24 of them last year ( had to manipulate the rebates a little... sorry if that offends anyone) and filled them with school supplies and handed them off to my little neighbor girl who had just spearheaded a new program in our school district for kiddos who are displaced. Can't think of a better cause, IMHO. Was talking to Sarah several weeks ago and she said the quality of the Menards backpacks were outstanding... they apparently outlasted any of the others that had been donated. Nice to know. Anyway, hoping that one rolls around again.

Took just under two hours to get the four ads typed up. I'm assuming it will only take 30 minutes or so for each ad which is not too bad. I'm unemployed, so I've got plenty of time (law school was so worth it :vomit:).

Expired deals in the wiki serve no purpose. If something is expired in the wiki, please delete it. I just got rid of everything that expired 7/24. I'm assuming we'll have another ad starting this Wednesday or Friday.

We are on the same page there; I know some threads leave expired lists up for some time, but I just don't see the point. Just wanted to confirm that it was OK with you. I would assume there will be several more ads here in the near future with back to school and labor day about a month away. And it's about time for another Crazy Day sale also

Thanks again for starting the thread; I'll contribute more as I start becoming a regular Menard's rebate roller.

Does anyone recommend the Menards Big Card?

I see it gives back 2% (assume that is post giftcard check price) but also comes with special store coupons, including a $10 store credit (WOW! A HUGE amount ;))...

Can anyone comment on the coupons that card holders get? Are they worthwhile?

Not sure if this will help you any, but my DH has the Big Card and the coupons they send are sometimes for free items. There was a gutter scoop and I think the "green" vegetable bags or something like that. The only problem I have is that the Big Card isn't in my name and he doesn't usually want to go with me when I am getting all the freebies, so I don't usually get a chance to use the coupons. One good thing about having the card is that they send you a free gift coupon on your birthday. DH has gotten a couple of different flashlights that way.

I also wanted to mention something about when you send multiple rebates in the same envelope that have the same PO Box #. When you send alot, they will send you multiple store credit checks. I think they can send up to 5 per check, since that is all the room there is on each. Sometimes one of them comes a few days later than the first ones. Also, you don't have to spend the whole amount of each check at once. It just deducts what you spend and they write the new total on the check (so it works kinda like a GC). HTH someone.

I've never tried, but I've been told that they do. If they do, does anyone know what they will do if the mq is for more than the item?

CatherinewithaC 07-27-2011 03:23 PM

I have used coupons at Menards many times, and I do know that they DO NOT take expired ones. I have used them on items that were free after rebate and I got the overage that way. In other words, they didn't take that coupon discount off of the amount of the rebate I received. I haven't encountered a coupon that was over the price of the item though, so I am not sure how they handle that.

I used $2 Cutter Insect Repellent printables from coupons.com a few weeks ago. Got a $1 "overage" on each can with the rebate.

If you find any coupons that match up please post them. I couldn't find any on the wisp 2-packs (all 4+ packs), but didn't look on the rest.

A little birdie told me Menards will be doing 11% off your entire purchase starting Saturday, July 30th through Sunday August 7th.

I haven't seen the ad myself, but the rebate form should appear on their site sometime tomorrow I'd expect if this is true.

For the newbies: Menards periodically runs a 11% off sale. EVERYTHING you purchase, INCLUDING otherwise rebated items, are totalled onto a SEPARATE rebate receipt that reflects 11% of there purchase price (before coupons, rebates).

This means if you go on Saturday (some ND/MN stores) or Sunday (all other stores) then you can double up on the currently ending ads, and get the FAR or otherwise rebated items STACKED with the 11% off rebate and actually making money after tax on it. Likewise, the following Sat/Sunday when the next ad starts, you can go in and buy those and stack the deals.

NOTE: The 11% off additional rebate forms GO TO A DIFFERENT PO BOX than the normal rebates. DO NOT COMBINE them with your other combined rebate submissions!!!

As long as I have shopped, or rather, rebated Menards, I did not know this. Who knew... 11% stackable. AWESOME!!! :worship: and repped.

Confirmed. 11% off everything at Menards, starting TODAY, SATURDAY 7/30 -- EVERYWHERE (not just certain ND/MN stores starting early -- ad is posted online at their site).

Thanks for the early info and confirming the 11% back. Percentage back sale runs through 8/7. Do you know if you can mail in multiple receipts for the 11% back, or is it limit of one per address/person?

Looks like it is time to stock up on a few cases of Sprecher's with the $2.97 sale price again + rebate.

Per their current terms AND previous personal experience: You can combine MULTIPLE 11% off rebate receipts from the same promotion period (7/30 - 8/7) for all purchases made in that time, in the same envelope, with 1 single 11% off rebate form. You will receive a SINGLE rebate check for the 11% off total purchase across all sent in.

Note: Per their terms, if you attempt to price adjust any purchases made with 11% off, it will INVALIDATE all of the 11% off for the specific item you are adjusting. In other words, you purchase 2 cases of pop at regular price today for $4.99 each, and 1 box of nails on sale for $2.79.

You will get a 11% rebate against the subtotal of $12.77 ($1.40). If next Sunday that pop goes on sale for $4.49, and you take in your receipt to get 50 cents back x 2, it will invalidate $1.10 of your 11% rebate, leaving you with just $0.30 back on your 11% card, even though the price adjustment was done during the promo period and the adjust was not lower than the 11% discount.

So, if it's not on sale/clearance/rebate now, I'd honestly wait until next weekend before purchasing just in case, as you'll get the best deal then.

There are money makers to be had today (even on non-FAR)... ESPECIALLY if you are cycling through rebate cards which now reduce your tax as well. Anything that is FAR is obvious, for non-FAR, here is just 1 example:

Limit 3x Rubbermaid Glass/All-Purpose/Pine gallon cleaners. $4.99 - $4.50 rebate = $.49 - 11% of $4.99 = $0.55 more off so make 6 cents per gallon.

knitten2000 07-30-2011 04:48 PM

Any idea how to contact them about your rebate if you think its not right? I got 4 of the lightbulbs the first week of July, should have been $12 rebate, but I only got $6.

On Menards Guest Services page [menards.com] there is a "contact us" form for rebate questions/concerns - http://www.rebateinternational.co...contact.do

I haven't done a Menard's rebate since the nearest store is 45 minutes away. We will be in that vicinity tomorrow, is it even worth stopping in on the last day of the sale? Is there usually lots of stock or non past the first day? Thanks!

My experience with Menards is that when it comes to items that are regularly stocked, they are replenished pretty regularly. It seems most who do Menards rebates go early on the first day of the sale and are done with it. I think a person has a better chance of going on the last day of the sale and getting items then the second day of the sale.

With that said, most school items are going to be out of stock imo. Backpacks, erasers, mechanical pencils, note cards have remained in stock in the stores I've been at. Items like Wisp, Hand Sanitizer, Thermometers, hex keys, etc have been in stock for most of the sale everywhere. Water, glass cleaners, snake pipe cleaning tools, plastic storage bins, etc have all been replaced from when sale started and were available at most of my stores as of Wednesday.

Starting tomorrow I think we'll have a new ad, with new FAR and rebate items. Been refreshing the last hour waiting for it.

Fondybadger 07-30-2011 10:14 PM

For anyone who has done, or will do the Lysol sale ending tomorrow, Lysol Bonus Packs 35ct + 30ct Bonus for $2.50, there's a mail in rebate of buy two get one free:

http://www.lysol.com/docs/23762_L...er_WEB.pdf

There's also a $0.50 off on two coupon - http://registration.rb.com/lysol.com/coupons/

So effectively you could purchase three double packs for $7.50 - $0.50 coupon - $0.83 (11% rebate) - $2.50 rebate = $3.67 + tax + stamp + envelope for 6 Lysol.

I'm going to be somewhat annoyed if that is the case. Stayed sober tonight anticipating I needed to head to the store in six hours... of course I forgot the store opens at 8:00am on Sunday instead of 6:30am as well.

At least the girlfriend is not annoyed with me tonight, compared to last night when I made myself look like an @ss enjoying all I could drink at the Milwaukee zoo.

MrLateNite 07-30-2011 11:16 PM

All you're getting this week is 11% off. There is NOT another ad starting until next Saturday (Sunday), unless they start an odd mid-week one on Tues/Wed/Thur as they sometimes have. However during an 11% off sale, it's just that. You'll have to wait for the weekend for the next full ad. Then you can overlap again as the 11% will be winding down.

In one of our two stores, it was wiped clean of most valuable BackToSchool stuff today. I had to climb the rack to get down the Metric Hex Key set from overstock (and then was promptly bothered by another customer asking me if "we carried something" -- as I'm standing there in shorts and a yellow polo shirt -- not a dark blue MENARDS T-shirt and JEANS like the REAL employees!! LOL.)

I got a few other things but passed on the digital thermometer money maker as I got lots of those a few months ago and dont need more even being paid to take them.

knitten2000 07-31-2011 05:52 AM

The Brookside 15 oz candle at $14.99 will get you $1.65 on the 11% rebate, and it has a $13 rebate on it. Makes it 34 cents for a $14.99 candle. I haven't looked at them yet but sounds pretty good.

While these candles seem to be high quailty fragrance, they really don't stand up to the quality of Yankee or GoldCanyon candles... but then, for 34 cents who's to argue. If you just want them for a sense of decor, they fill the bill. But if it's great scent, probably pass. There are very few items at Mendards that I won't buy, but unfortunately, this is one of them. HTH.

So using a 10% competitor coupon will invalidate the 11% off? Anyone have any experience?

Last time they had the 11% rebate going I bought all new kitchen cabinets .. Saved us a good bit too! This time we're buying new carpet so we should save quite a bit this time around too!!!

No personal experience on Competetor, but MFG coupons do NOT invalid any standard OR 11% rebates, I know from experience, and it's writing in the current ad:

"Not good with any other coupons or offers except Menards coupons, Menards rebates and manufacturers coupons."

Therefore, I presume a competetor's coupon *probably* will invalidate.

A new ad always comes out on Sat/Sunday and runs 1 or 2 weeks. (They used to have a predictable length schedule but now it's a bit more random how long it lasts) However, there WILL be a new one out this weekend that you can stack with the current rebate. There is always a chance of a mid-week specialty ad as well, but not as likely due to the current 11%.

Thanks for the info. As it turned out, there were none of those candles left. School supplies were cleaned out also, as predicted. I was surprised to still find the Colgate Wisp's and a few other things, but only got about half what I was hoping for.

This may be YMMV for some of you, but my Menards just lowered the price of Tums Ultra 1000, maximum strength, 265 ct to $4.00 a bottle. That is a huge bargin because this ranges anywhere from $10.99 to $14.99 everywhere else. I assume they are clearing them out but the expire date is Jan 2013 on my bottle so will keep for quite a while.

New ad is out for this sunday, LOTS of free stuff. Not sure anything we really need or use, but anyways....Sunday is last day for the 11% rebate, so make sure to go sunday and take advantage of the money maker deals.
I finally got back over $200 from past deals, so i'm ready to shop!

Dang, MuffiesKids beat me :)

They will have a total of 2 ads: Project Days sale 2 week ad and a 2 week "Storage Sale" ad.

Also note: Sometime in the last week about 1/2 of their seasonal chemicals went on clearance. Some are 15% off, others are about 25% off. Things like grass and weed killer and some ant killer and the like. Not all of it, but enough to look through and when coupled with the 11% off bonus rebate makes for some good deals. Especially when some of it never went on sale this summer that I was watching.

knitten2000 08-06-2011 04:17 PM

Any idea if the Spic & Span wet wipes are the same rebate as a few weeks ago? I did my limit 10 at that time. Would I be able to buy them again this week?

Both are diff rebates and diff receipts will print out for each. You then go to the front desk at the store and pick up the matching rebate forms. Menards rebates really are some of the easiest. So easy they tempt me into buying things I dont even want, lol.

You will be able to buy them again this time, it is a NEW rebate.

Quote:

When the receipt prints out, on the bottom of the receipt a "rebate receipt" for each of the qualify rebates will print out and another rebate will print out for 11% of your total purchase.

So for example, if you buy:
6 Spic & Span = $1.50 x 6 = $9.00
4 Super Hook 20pc = $3.00 x 4 = $12.00
10 Cerama-Lock Floor Lock Trays 12pk = $25.00 x 10 = $250.00
4 4-Packs of Sprecher root Beer = $2.97 x 4 = $11.88

Total would be $282.88 + tax

The normal receipt would print out as normal. Then a rebate receipt would print out for 11% of $282.88 = $31.12 (note this has a different mailing address than most Menard rebates)

Then you would receive three more rebate receipts, one for each of the Spic & Span, Super Hooks, and Cerama Lock Floor (Sprechers is just a sale item and non-rebate). So you'd receive your initial receipt, and then connected to it would be the four other rebate receipts.

Maybe
Post Frame Building Book $3
Orbit Rubber Grip NozzlesGlad Food Storage Set 24pc
Double Ladder Ball Game
Want to point out two deals that I think are really good...

The Ladder Ball Game set is on sale for $16.99 with a $10 rebate, so $6.99 after rebate and if you buy on Sunday you get another $1.86 from the 11% rebate so its $5.13 for them. Google product search, next best price is $33!

Other good deal in my mind is the extension cord combo pack for $6.99, with a $5 rebate = $1.99 or $1.22 if you buy on Sunday... the combo pack includes 3 Outlet Adapter/Nightlight, 6 Outlet Power Strip and 12' Extension Cord. The power strip is worth $3 or $4 alone... the extension cord and 3 outlet adapter is just the cherry on top.

Link in the wiki now shows the current ads. HTH!

Fondybadger 08-07-2011 12:59 AM

The below the bed organizers for $5 w/ a $4 rebate (and another $0.55 on Sunday), so $0.45 each look nice as they go for about $10 each online.

The $4.99 sale price on the laptop Cooling Pad looks like a nice price too ($4.45 after rebate)...

knitten2000 08-07-2011 07:04 AM

As for me, I've got the toilet seat on my shopping list. One of ours broke. This is perfect timing.

Thanks everybody for posting the deals.

Thanks everybody for posting the deals.

I picked one of them up too. ~$4 after the $5 rebate & 11% rebate. Very nice price and it appears to be a solid, heavy, decently made wood seat.

Fondybadger 08-07-2011 08:39 AM

Another item that was never mentioned in the list I copied over is the

8 Pack Solar Path Lights for $14.99 w/ $10 Rebate (limit 4)

If you get them today it figures out to be about $3.35 w/ the two rebates for an 8-pack.

Fondybadger 08-07-2011 08:55 AM

A couple shopping notes from earlier today:
  • I got the last two LED Auto Night Lights and I was the first one in the store today
    • Make sure the package says LED on them in the title as there is one that looks almost like it without that distinction and is not part of the rebate
    • These are located in the lighting department
  • The "Super Hook 20pc" for $3.00 which is free after rebate was actually a 25pc pack... When I scanned it at the self scanner it came up $3 for 20 or 25pc pack. Rebate form printed for 25pc pack, so if you can find the bigger pack it counts towards the rebate
    • These were located in the middle aisles near other wall mounting supplies (close to candle/mirror aisle)
  • Dirt Devil Scorpion Vacuum looked to be a pretty low end model, for $8 after the two rebates, I still ended up buying two. Does not look like a normally stocked model and it was on a pallet in the back of the store area behind the last main aisle
  • Candle lighter I had a hard time finding, guess I should have looked in the obvious place next to the candles (doh), also in short supply
  • The 3-piece extension cord set was by the back to school/campus stuff and in relatively short supply as well
  • The double ladder ball game set they had about 8 available, regularly priced $19.99 (I know I paid over $20 for the one I already have)
  • Passed on the Orbit Rubber Grip Nozzles for $5.00, and FAR, definitely not an upgrade over your own hose nozzle that you would already have

It's in the Project Days Sale Ad, if you view it online it is page #27 bottom right hand corner. Otherwise, if you have a hard copy I believe it is page #3 of the smaller wrap-around (so inside back cover of the wrap-around).

In the store they were located by the laundry baskets and rubbermade type storage containers.

Actually, that would be "TCL" not "TLC" :)

Here's the amazon link. Amazingly high reviews for a non-name rebadge.
http://www.amazon.com/L40FHDF11TA...797&sr=8-1

HUMONGOUS number of reviews (>800). Even good quality name brand TV's like Vizio and Panasonic and Samsung and LG and Philips don't even reach that. Seems kinda strange though?

Big warning though: A lot of people are complaining about a problem with blanking out using HDMI and the MFG claims it's not a firmware (fixable) issue but rather hardware on the board.

On more research, doesn't look like this TV is worth it.. HDMI problem for hundreds of people and no support from MFG other than "return it". Lowest price quoted was about $260 skimming some reviews so it seems Menards actually didn't beat a low price after rebate on this one.

Glad to hear you're ready to rinse and repeat. I'm trying to figure out what to do right now as I have zero Menards rebates left after last weekend, but I'm expecting about $800 worth. Do not want to spend too much more out of pocket.

If you didn't buy the newspaper that Sunday, you can try finding them in a clipping service, this thread lists some:

Sorry for the OT, but I just thought of this and seems like the sort of people to ask here...
Does anybody also do rebates from Ace Hardware? Is there a thread for that? I looked but didn't see one. I think they have monthly rebate sheets and sometimes other special ones too.

CookieMonster2 08-16-2011 06:01 PM

Seems like Ace rebates arent often advertised here from what i've seen. I dont think its common for them to have free items too often. Usually every july 4th they have a couple freebies, but thats about all I ever see.

I guess you're right. Perhaps I just noticed them this summer with 4th of July, and I think they had some good Father's Day sales. So I thought they had good rebates the rest of the year too.

jfkendal 08-16-2011 08:19 PM

I've never done any Menards rebates (or shopping), however, from what I've read in this thread, it sounds enticing. I have a few questions:
1) How long does it take to receive a rebate checks?
2) It sounds like rebate checks can be used to purchase later FAR/Rebate deals. True?
3) Do rebate checks expire? How long do you have to use the checks?
4) From the initial page of this thread, it states that Menards matches prices. What is the process? Does the cashier handle the matching, or do you have to go through the service desk to accomplish this? Do they only match prices with certain stores (i.e. hardware stores), or can you match with other stores, such as grocery stores and/or drug stores?

Thanks in advance for the assistance. I'm excited to give Menards a try. By the way, my son works at a Menards, I'm now wondering if I could also stack his employee discount with these deals. Does anyone know?

I don't remember seeing the Glad zipper storage bags mentioned, but I might have missed it. Found them in store tonight. 128 gallon size bags (I think the quart size had 204?) for $7.99 with a $3 rebate. I price checked Sam's club from my smartphone and this was cheaper than their Ziploc bags. So now I'm way stocked with freezer bags. There's a limit of 3 on the rebate.

I could only grab a quick look before the young fella manning the desk came back and caught me taking a sneak peak at this week’s ad, but here’s what I did get written down. (Personally, I think they should put the ad away as opposed to leaving it lie on top of the counter if they don’t want me browsing it, but that's just me.) Will fill in the blanks tomorrow when the ad is posted on-line.

Another decent deal we found today was the path lights were an 8 pack for $4.99 after rebate. I did not have a lot of time to load up on everything, but was able to get about $100 rolled over. :woot:

knitten2000 08-21-2011 05:12 AM

I tried to get the sandpaper several months ago but it was all sold out. So if anybody is after that, you might want to go early in the week.

Hard to decide whether to go for that battery offer. The office supply stores will sometimes have them free after rewards, but $1.99 is a good deal too. Ah, but I used up all my rebate checks last week, and probably won't have any back for a couple of weeks yet. Drat.

melduh 08-21-2011 06:24 PM

Got a couple other free after rebate deals when at the store. There was an unadvertised rebate on:

Tool Bandit Arm Band $4 with a $4 rebate (6370)

The new rebate forms have e-mail under your address as normal, but it is not marked as optional anymore. If you haven't been filling in this field, like me, now would be the time to start.

Thanks for the warning. Are you talking about in-store forms? Or is this new with this weeks deals? The ones I printed from the website Friday still say optional.

I am talking about the forms starting this week (Sunday, 8/21). It looks to be random when I look at my forms again. The Torpedo level, Tool Bandit, Metal Snips, Utility Knife required it (granted all were printed off the website by the store except for Torpedo level which was from a tearpad) However, the tape measure, Super Glue, and Power out cleaner were still optional. Best advice is just to be vigilant in reviewing your submissions.

(Personally, I think they should put the ad away as opposed to leaving it lie on top of the counter if they don’t want me browsing it, but that's just me.) Will fill in the blanks tomorrow when the ad is posted on-line.

Super Glue Gel 3pk $2.50
Get $2.50 MIR (Limit 4) makes them FREE

Sandpaper 25pk 9"x11" $4.00
Get $4.00 MIR (Limit 2) makes them FREE

Tape Measure 25'x1" $4.50
Get $4.50 MIR (Limit 2) makes them FREE

Magnetic Torpedo Level 9" $2.50
Get $2.50 MIR (Limit 2) makes them FREE

Forgot to look at the dates but would assume they are from 8/21 thru 9/5, but will correct that tomorrow if I’m wrong, as well.

Thanks for this list, and thanks to whoever added this list to the WIKI. Sure love these freebies!

Wondering if the deals that ended 8/21 should be deleted from the WIKI. I'm not sure how to do this or whether I even have the right to do this.

Your wish has been granted and yep, you can make changes to the wiki if you would like. Just go to and click edit at the top of the wiki. All help is welcomed in maintaining it. Just use caution because some of it is in a crazy format that you don't delete items you don't mean to. When I add lists to the wiki, I type them in word first and then cut and paste so there isn't all that extra stuff surrounding each entry and it makes it much easier to edit later. HTH.

A really great use for the wiki if it's up-to-date and you have a smart phone, you can pull it up and use it as your shopping list while at Menards... no hand written shopping lists any more.

OK, I promise... I didn't touch the Wiki. But I did just go and look at it again. It appears the deals that expire 8/28 are also missing from the Wiki (Colgate Wisp, Doggy Bags, and others). At least I can't see them. Does anyone know what happened to these deals? Is there anyway to revert back to an old version, then ONLY remove those deals that expired 8/21?

Done! :D Actually I cheated... just copied and pasted Fondy's post; but you're right it was gone and it is nice to do one-stop-shop in the wiki.

If you're going to be running around Menards anyway, a couple of good deals this week. My Menards has K.C. Masterpiece BBQ Sauce on sale for a buck a bottle and there's a $0.50 Printable Q at coupons.com. Additionally, Hamburger Helper was on Sale for $0.98 and coupons.com has a Printable Q for $0.80 wyb 4.

A new ad also showed up in my newspaper today for the Labor Day Sale and included two FAR items including The Sherpa (after $7 MIR - limit 4) and a 7 Piece Power Bit Screwdriver (after $2.50 MIR - Limit 2)

Off the top of my head I'd say I have around $300 invested right now. Just got a rebate check in the mail today. It takes me 4-5 weeks to get rebates back. Time to go roll it back into more merchandise soon.

I have about $900 invested at Menards since mid-June, with about $800 in rebates coming/available. We had a rummage sale a few weeks ago and sold about $150 worth of stuff that I had no interest in keeping (Vaseline, spic & span, etc). So guess you could say I have about $750 invested, with $800 in store credit.

Also, thanks everyone for keeping things updated. Had a death in the family and have not had a chance to do any of the current deals yet. I'm even sitting on about $500 in rebates on hand, had very quick turn around on the school stuff as I mailed it in on 8/3 and received them back on 8/22. Plan on getting my list together tonight and hitting a few stores tomorrow to get the free stuff.

Fondybadger 08-24-2011 09:34 PM

I updated the wiki, and I know you can get to older revisions, but figured I'd copy over everything over to this post to be safe

Reminder - rebates are in the form of store credit!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzMkcgIfqQo

First Post here - Glad to see a Menards thread has been started. I have about $300 tied up in rebates.

Went today at Lunch and got a few new unadvertised deals, nothing FAR, but not too bad after rebate.

#6432 Oscillating Tool Accessory Kit - $20 Rebate, $9.99 AR
#6411 12" Leveling Square (plastic) - $6.00 Rebate $2.99AR

Also saw 15pk Topflight balls that were is the Crazy Days sales the month before last on sale for $9.99 with a $5 rebate available. And 99 cent bottles of hand sanitizer that are FAR. Maybe 5 oz size?

I tend to get my ad on Friday afternoon because it is included with the local free Saturday paper and the carrier delivers it a day early.

Oh, Heads up about the Bullfrog Sunscreen - Checks the dates. Went to two stores and the majority of it was dated 02/12, with nothing longer than 08/12. I'm guessing Menards loads up on cheap items that manufacturers are trying to unload. Noticed alot of recent deals that are higher, but on clearance. In fact, the local store has a clearance section and it is mainly loaded with previoud free or $99 cent after rebate items.

Any details on the golf balls? Limit? exipiration date of the deal? I just mentioned this to hubby and now I have to go look for them this weekend.

knitten2000 08-25-2011 07:50 PM

I found some more unadvertised deals tonight.

Ceiling storage unit. SKU 211-3310 [menards.com] $29.99. -$20 Rebate = $9.99 Limit 2 08/19 thru 10/2

Performax Black Oxide Drill Bit Set 13 pc. $6.99 - $5 Rebate = $1.99
(sorry my picture I took with my phone is too blurry to read the SKU, expiration, or limit)

ChannelLock 26 piece Screwdriver Set $19.99 - $5 Rebate = $14.99
(again too blurry)

ETA, I tried to add to wiki, but I can't make sense of it tonight. All those "Arial important important important" things going on in there. How do you do it?

I was thinking - would it be beneficial to put the SKU's in the wiki with the deals when we have them? I noticed the instructions on how to find things in the store by the first digit of the SKU. I will try to add what I can when I can, but my store hardly had any ads out tonight.

Also, for those with smartphones, I found what I think is the greatest app for deal shopping. Its called Evernote. I installed it on the smartphone, and on the computer. When I'm reading SD on the computer and come across a deal I want to save, I simply click-drag across the text, right click it and choose "add to Evernote". It will let me add a tag to the item so I can find it easier later. Then it syncs in the background and when I get to the store I pull out my phone and the notes are there. I've screen-scraped entire wiki's to take with me. Its wonderful.

According to the rebate form: http://www.menards.com/main/store...s/6374.pdf

"Limit four packs of Top Flite XL Golf Balls total per rebate certificate."

"The purchase must be made between 8/19/11 thru 10/2/11"

You beat me to it. Thanks. Just noticed they also have a listing function on their website. Kind of interesting because I noticed a bunch of older items, like the Calloway clubs have a rebate again. I have to look over the list because the intercity store by me tends to have a good selection of leftover deals on clearance that could be a good deal with a rebate too.

Go to http://www.menards.com/main/rebates.html and you can sort the rebates by start date. Looks like there are 58 starting today.

I've noticed that a lot of the rebates start two days earlier then when they show up in the ad, but never thought to look in the online list.

Taking a look through things, it looks like a Commemorative GB Packers SI [menards.com] will be free or $2 and under, also superhooks, waterglobe, thermometers, batteries, tile pad things, and we'll have to see what else.

Even though they start two days early, it usually always good to wait until Sunday to buy since there is usually a sale price associated with most rebates.

I just got home and all the sale prices "starting" tomorrow were already turned on and rebate receipts printed for everything.

Don't have the new ad in front of me, but free items included:

Battery Container
Packers Commemorative Sports Illustrated Magazine
Food Saver Bags (again)
Deck/House Wash
Driveway Cleaner
Tile Padding Stuff (that thing that has been $25 in a few ads lately)

and

Glass Water Globes ($0.19 AR)
Teeter stoppers ($0.09 AR)
20pack Batteries ($0.99 AR)
Some easy caulk thing that are around $1 after $7 rebate
Superhooks ($0.30 AR)

Will get back to things later tonight with ad in front of me. Was just surprised to see all the items already on sale (make sure you check your items at the self scanners) and rebates printing out and put out in the store.

jreule 08-27-2011 08:01 PM

I got Tigi shampoo and conditioner. Limit 4. It was already on the shelf today. Went in to get the Sherpa, but they were all out. :( Also out of the hammers :( I did get more food bags. :woot: Also go the little screwdriver sets. We now probably have 10.

I only have about $15 left on my rebate check, so need to wait to get more back before I shop more. :woot:

Thanks again for the heads up, I would have probably overlooked that. Appears that they're changing it over on all the new rebate items in the new ads. Time to print up some new address labels.

Two coupon opportunities available:

The 8/7 Smart Source has a coupon for $1 off 2 which would bring the cost down to $0.49 if you buy two.

There's also a $0.50 off 2 Printable coupon for the Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner available at the link below:

http://lysol.com/login?redirect=/...n?go=lysol

The printable would bring the Toilet Bowl Cleaner down to $0.74 if you buy two.

Just catching up from being out for the weekend, but usually the rebates turn on two days early and the sales price turns on the day prior to the sale.

I have access to a copier that can make pdfs at work. I make copies of everything just in case because of years of submitting rebates, but I've had little trouble with Menard's program. They really have an incentive to pay them because you can only spend them in store.

I scan the forms and rebate receipts and keep them in a file on the computer. No ink/paper waste and if I need them, I can retrieve them.

i just took photos on receipts only.

I scan them since I want there to be no way to lose $100+ in the system.

I have never had a problem with the Menards rebates. Sometimes it takes a while, but the rebates always find a way to my mailbox.

I think one of the items that interest me that will slip through the cracks for most people is the Peak Inverter w/ USB Port 100 Watt ($14.99 - $5.00 Rebate = $9.99 (limit 2)). It sells for $22 on Amazon and $30+ elsewhere.

What is it? It's an adapter that changes your cigarette lighter in to a household three prong socket and also acts as a usb charger. I'll mainly use it for the Dirt Devil I bought last month at Menards that needs to be plugged in to a house socket (and I live in a town house that with where I park I'm not close to an outlet). But would also be nice for having for anything from air mattress chargers to charging up the portable tv/computers while camping or at the beach or whatever.

Just make sure that you appliance doesn't pull too much power. Not sure what a Dirt Devel pulls, but I think the formula is

Volts x Amps = Watts

Most car cig lighters are 12 volts x 15 amps fuse, so anything near 180 watts will probably not work. Of course, rember that your household appliances will probably have lower amps, becasue they'll need to be multiplied times 110/120 volts. So for safety we can guess that the max you cig lighter can handle would be 180 watt/120 volts = 1.5 amps with a pull in appliance

That is max, probably don't want to push it more than 75% of capacity.

On another note, went to Menard today and all the rakes were gone. They didn't appear to have much going for them, except being FAR.

Thanks for the recap on the usage. Figured I would have to do some reading before I used it. Taking a look at the package, it basically says everything you did without the explanation behind it. Although, the maximum continuous usage it recommends is 100 watt. The product does "feature" low voltage shut down to prevent excessive battery drain, overload and heat shut down protection with red fault LED indicator, and short circuit protection with an internal fuse to prevent vehicle electrical system damage. I'll probably still figure out a way to wreck the electronic/car battery. Probably have to stick to charging up the laptops instead of using it for vacuuming and taking the blender on the go.

As for the rakes, when I went on Sunday the area that was marked with all the other rakes was already empty, there was probably another 100 or so unmarked (except for the $4.96 regular price) right up by the outdoor cashier. They are pretty flimsy/crappy rake. I'll put $2 or $3 on them during a rummage sale this weekend to get rid of them.

Also, I owe more than a few of you reps. Been repping the same people in this thread and CVS threads and have not had enough variance to re-rep people for more help.

opharbour 09-05-2011 09:30 PM

I thought I'd throw this out there, but it's probably only a good deal if you are in need of it. There is a printable coupon for $1 off the Greased Lightening Cleaner & Degreaser that Menards has on sale 2/$5 in the latest ad. You can print two coupons on each computer which would effectively make this 2/$3.

the rake is very sad looking, although the wooden rod might come in handy and is pretty nice.

Yes, finally got to a store with it. Had to be choosy because some of the handles were a little rough. Love the sticker that basically says when the rake breaks you can recycle it.

New rebates are up on Menards site. Will know for sure tomorrow, but it looks like some free or cheap items will include the long-arm grabber, shelf brackets with a dowel rod holder, Mold Armor spray and lint rollers.

There is a garbage can and a pruning/watering set combo that may be possible too. Along with a small cinch tarp, Sally Hansen beauty supplies. There is a skillet/toaster rebate for $20 that might have potential?

knitten2000 09-09-2011 07:51 PM

How do we get the unadvertised rebates that have been mentioned in the thread added to the wiki? Seems there have been several things mentioned that don't expire until 10/2. I can't make heads or tails of that wiki.

At the store there are some tags that mention "unadvertised specials." It's exactly what it says, they are special that weren't in any advertisements. To get the rebate, buy the item and the submit slip will print out.

The wiki is a big undertaking and you should be thankful that there is one. FondyBadger puts in a lot of time along with several others (I'm guessing). It looks like it is organized by the ad with three sections. 1) free after rebate items (FAR) 2) other rebate items 3) Other noteable deals (i.e. good prices or coupon opportunities.)

This may come off mean, but look at the wiki, visit the Menards.com rebate center and throw around some rep love to those who are working hard. Their work is making it easier for you to "Save big money, when you shop Menards."

Only correction I will make to your statement is that the "unadvertised specials" actually had an ad that was found in store (never received it in my papers). If you look online at Menards for the ads, the unadvertised ones are all part of the Menards Closeout Sale Ad, which goes until Sunday 9/11. However, the rebates for the listed items appear to be going until 10/2. I would have completely overlooked it myself, except TexasAggie updated wiki with the sale information.

As for the wiki, it is as letterk says. All the FAR items are listed at the top broken down by which advertisement it was in. Other rebate category lists most of the rebates from the ads, that are not FAR. I probably included 80% of them each week, but exclude some high priced items and/or items that the rebate is an insignificant portion of the total price (example $9.99 item and there's a $1 rebate). We probably should list more sale items that look like good deals, but except for the cleaning/health & beauty, I don't have a good grasp of what is good sale prices yet.

I think you misunderstood me. I was not offering criticism in any way. In fact, I was one that posted a couple of the unadvertised deals to the thread. I've been trying to contribute. When I say I can't make heads or tails of the wiki, I should be more clear I don't mean the way it looks on page 1. I mean I tried to go edit it, to help out and add some of those deals (no reason Fondy has to do all the work), but what I see when I go into wiki edit mode is so confusing I can't seem to do it. Am I the only one that its doing that to? Maybe I have a setting that's messed up?

Sorry if I was not clear and was misunderstood. If I've missed you on reps I apologize. I know I've repped multiple times in this thread.

I believe changing a setting in your user profile will make things easier for you. It sounds as if right now you are seeing all the html marks (such as size, font, etc). At the top of the page click the drop down menu/the arrow key point down that is next to your user name. Choose the second option which is user control panel. On the left side of the page is an option menu. In the third "category" - "settings & options" is a link for "edit options." Click that. Two thirds of the way down the page is "miscellaneous options category" and the top option is Message Editor Interface. Right now you probably have "basic editor" as the option, possibly "standard editor." You will want to change that to "Enhanced Interface WYSIWYG editor." This allows you to format your text as you want it and see the results immediately.

The change in format gives the following warning however "Depending upon the capabilities of your web browser, you may not be able to use all of these options. If you experience problems when posting messages, try switching to a different interface type."

Sorry, I've never gotten paint deals at Menards. Someone who has bought it in the past may be able to tell you more. In a deal such as this though, it would not hurt to call the store and ask your question.

I would like to also thank Fondy for all the hard work he puts into the wiki; it's a ton of work and sometimes just taken for granted all the info will just magically appear there for everyones convienence. So folks, if you visit the wiki and find it useful, spread a little love Fondy's way because it's well deserved! Thanks Fondybadger!

No harm, sorry about my reply. The edit wiki shows up with HTML codes. You can use the standard formatting options to add the html tags, but if you aren't fimiliar with it, it will look confusing. Yes, I wish they had a better system. I think you can preview it before posting to final, but I think you can also revert back to a prior version if needed.

It goes on sale tomorrow too for the next ad cycle for FAR. The can comes in 2, 3 or 4 colors (can't remember) already. All are shades of white. YMMV if you can get them to mix colors, but if they do, you probably won't exact color matching.

No, you can't. I think it states that right on the shelf where that paint is stocked. HTH.

And to follow up on letterk's last post, the paint comes in white, antique white and I believe, ceiling white.

Did you see my change in setting suggestion a few posts up? If you make that change it will show things as is, as you type, instead of in html.

Thanks! There were Two 7/31 Red Plum Inserts, so if you don't find it in the first, check the second.

Thank you Fondybadger. That will help me a bunch. I had tried a couple of times to add things and just ended up cancelling because I could not even see what I was doing. All of a sudden today it occurred to me it might be a setting. Am I right in assuming any of us can help you out with the wiki?

Fondybadger 09-10-2011 08:16 PM

Delete - I'm an idiot.

For some reason I was thinking the Sally Hansen coupon was a $1 off 2 items, not a $1 off a $2 purchase.

Having a rummage sale the last two days took too much out of me I guess.

I see what you guys mean. With the HTML setup the font is listed as Arial with about 10 !important listed after it. Makes it hard to figure out where to add edits.

Also, I noticed that you can change edit modes by going to the top right corner when you are typing and clicking the A/A button.

I tried to edit that wiki, but it's a lot of work trying to maintain the formatting.

Oh and I updated my post with the major rebate items.

knitten2000 09-10-2011 08:52 PM

I added a few of the deals that I've seen posted in the thread to the wiki.

Thanks for the additions. I'll have to go back and look, but I believe the non-FAR items you added to the wiki are also all part of the Menards Closeout Sale Ad which "ends" tomorrow 9/11. Rebates go until 10/2, but if anyone is buying those items, they will need to double check the pre-rebate price.

Thanks. I'll make sure to add all the sale items you posted the coupon matchups for in the wiki. Something we've been missing for the most part since this thread started.

The items that were originally posted as unadvertised deals where in a 4 page closeout sale circular that ends on Sunday 9/11 (rebates are valid until 10/2 on every item I've checked). You probably want to verify prices after Sunday before purchasing. Here's almost the entire rebate list from that advertisement (also added it to wiki).

Menards Closeout Sale (Date 8/19/11 to 9/11/11 sale prices in ad, 10/2 on rebates)

  • $7.00 32" Wand With 180 Degrees Rotate Head - $7 Rebate (#6407) = Free (limit 2)
  • $6.99 Performax Black Oxide Drill Bit Set 13 pc. - $5 Rebate = $1.99 (limit 2)

Because of the extra time I had with you typing up that initial list, I added multiple other rebate items to the wiki. Of note:
  • $1.50 Shasta Soda 6 pack - $0.75 Rebate = $0.75 (limit 6)
  • $1.49 Window Insulator Kit Interior - $0.50 Rebate = $0.99 (limit 4)
  • $4.00 Roll-A-Bag - $3.00 Rebate = $1.00 (limit 2)
  • $5.98 60" Scarecrow - $3.00 Rebate = $2.98 (limit 3)
  • $5.99 Cinch Tarp 9' x 9' - $2 Rebate = $3.99 (limit 2)
  • $12.99 Log Support Cutting Aid - $8.00 Rebate = $4.99 (limit 2)
  • $29.98 Motion Detector Lights 2pack - $15.00 Rebate = $14.98 (limit 3)
    • I think that this is one of the better "value" deals this week that will be overlooked.

Thanks, added them to the wiki.

-----------------------------------------
Overall there's not a whole lot in the advertisement starting 9/11 that interests me. I'll probably just be buying the Reach Toll, Lint Rollers, Sally Hansen, Picture Frames, and maybe the 60" Scarecrows...

Would assume we'll have a Wed/Fri ad starting this week as the Catalog will be the only ad running otherwise.

Letter_K 09-11-2011 04:37 PM

Fondybadger - I agree with you, not much excitibg in the ad. I went last night and caught a few rebates that were expiring ( sealcoating and fertilizer). Didn't get anything from the ad. Hope a Crazydays sale starts soon. They can have some good deals.

whats a crazydays?

knitten2000 09-11-2011 07:56 PM

Why do I wait until the last night of the sale to go? They had already taken down most of the rebate signs so it was hard to find any of the rebate items. And I don't think they had put up many of the ones for the new sale. I did manage to find the hammers which were not in stock last time I went. Also we may never run out of electrical tape in this lifetime :)

My store also seems to have a problem with having the ads out. The only ones available by the front door were for the roofing sale. Found a secret stash of ads back by the employee desk in the tools department. So if there are no ads, that might be a place to look.

The Crazy Days sales are usually a Friday, Saturday, Sunday sale. Usually loaded with lots of Free after rebate (FAR) items. I think they tend to pick up closeout item from manufacturers so they have lots of unusual items for a home improvement center.

One sale I remember had member's only jackets for $5, yes the one from the 80's, Big Bertha golf clubs and golf balls (nike One for $5 after rebate (AR), Topflight for $2 AR). They also had nice levels from Dewalt for 1/3 the normal price. Lots of good deals, I wouldn't be surprised to see furniture and other items too.

Check out post #74 by Fondybadger for a Crazy Day sale example.

Just found out something I never knew at Menards this morning... Apparently they now guarantee if you don't like even your custom blended paint, you can now return it. Yikes! Well, it gets even better; those returned cans they resell. Quarts are $1. gallons are $5. and 5gallon drums are $15. The Iowa City locations had about 10 1gallons cans of sage green the customer had never opened in semi-gloss Grand Distinctions all in one paint and primer reg $29. now $5., At least 8 five gallon drums of both sage green semi-gloss, several drums of kind of a sandy color semi-gloss, and 3 drums of contracters grade of just barely white. This isn't even including the 26 or 27 gallons of random colors and types of paint. What a bargin!

Oh! Almost forgot, you cannot apply rebates to these cans because they rebarcode them to the new price and they are excluded. HTH.

TexasAggie01 09-12-2011 02:48 PM

Noticed a discrepancy with my rebate submission and the rebate check.

Rebate #6068 I bought three gallons was credited with one.

It's reasons like these why I scan my rebates, we'll see if I get the remaining $6.

Looks like a great sale event. How often do Crazy Days happen in a year?

jfkendal 09-12-2011 06:22 PM

A few questions regarding the WIKI.
1) Is it appropriate to edit the WIKI if you have input or know of changes?
2) There are several rebates that ended on 9/11. Is it appropriate to remove these entries when expired? Or is it preferable to leave the entries in the WIKI for a few days (or more) after the rebates are expired?

I encourage anyone who has something to add or notices something wrong in the wiki to correct it. If something were to get messed up, it is always possible to revert to previous versions of the wiki.

There's really no reason to keep rebate offers that are no longer valid in the wiki that I can see... I removed the ones ending on 9/11, but left up the closeout ad ones as the rebates are still valid, just not sure about the sale prices.

knitten2000 09-12-2011 09:00 PM

At the back of the grocery section, they had a display of the Hormel Compleats dinners, for $1.97 (I think I have that price right, was less than $2) Also they had tearpads of BOGO coupons for them. Pretty good price for those.

Thanks for typing up the list orpharbour. Looks like some interesting stuff from what you have had a chance to post so far.

jfkendal 09-13-2011 06:36 PM

Wow.... Thanks so much opharbour, for the Crazy Days Sale list! Rep'ed.

There's a $1/2 MQ in the 8/28 RP for Quaker Chewy Granola Bars. Each box would only be $.48 after coupon and rebate.

Fondybadger 09-14-2011 01:21 AM

My shopping list looks like:

For Sure
3 Pack Mesh Sponge - $5.00 Rebate = Free (limit 3) (are these kitchen though or sanding?)
2 Electric Salt-N-Pepper Mill - $17.00 Rebate = $2.99 (limit 2)

Very Likely

20 Towel Ring or Toilet Paper Holder - $1.00 Rebate = Free (limit 20)
3 2' X 3' Striped Mat - $2.50 Rebate = $0.49 (limit 3)
6 Dessert Topper - $1.00 Rebate = $0.68 (limit 6)
8 64 oz Snapple Tea - $1.00 Rebate = $0.88 (limit 8)
10 Quaker Chewy Granola Bars - $1.00 Rebate = $0.98 (limit 10)

= $28.37, using a bit more of my rebates up than I prefer. May pass on some of the food items or not max out.

Other Possibles
Outdoor Security Light - $5.00 Rebate = $4.99 (limit 2)
10 Pack 48" Fluorescent Light Bulbs - $5.00 Rebate = $4.99 (limit 4)
Decorative Pedestal Vanity Mirrors - $10.00 Rebate = $4.99 (limit 4)
6.5 Quart Dutch Oven - $20.00 Rebate = $19.99 (limit 2)

Notes

Electric Salt & Pepper shakers are $30+ almost everywhere else.
Dutch ovens are $69.99 online at Menards and similar ones are $45 or so at Walmart. The 48" Fluorescent light bulbs are normally $12.99 at Menards, which seems like a good price based on my google search as they are about $3/each everywhere else. With them at $0.50 each AR, if they are individually packed I'll probably pick them up to resell at $2 a piece at a rummage sale or so. No clue what the vanity mirrors are, as I cant' find them online at Menards.

Paper was just delivered with the ad in it.

The sponges are more like a loofahs for showering...

After taking a look at everything, pretty sure I'll max out on all my "for sure" and "very likely" and get the Fluorescent Light Bulbs as they actually fit our kitchen fixture which has been burned out the last few years.
