Actually, it is handy if you want to add front audio for a mic. I plug mine into a usb extender. I then plug my mic for use with Dragon Naturally Speaking for voice dictation. Works well and clears up the cables a bit. They do fail fairly easily in my experience.

Haha, it advertises itself as 7.1 channel and only has stereo output, what a joke.

Thanks, bought one to test wether my onboard audio is problematic, or the microphone I have.

Repped for .98 sound card.

I had one of these for my laptop after my onboard audio ports broke (and only way to fix them is to replace Mobo or resolder area).

Good: has some of the best sound quality of these Chinese USB sound devices.
Bad: It broke easily. Where the cord would have normally just been yanked out of the port it instead pulled the whole thing apart...

These are available all the time for this price on ebay. I also got one for 25 cents from DX on sale. They are OK. They do work. The sound is.... crackily. The highs sound overblown. They work but even someone with a tin ear will tell it's not the best.

Hah, actually its just a misleading title. If you look closely at the image of item and packaging it actually says 'VIRTUAL 7.1'. They must have conveniently forgot about that part.
