LAST DAY! STAPLES B&M ONLY! 35 Cents = 2 packs 16-pcs of Duracell (AA or AAA) + 1 Ream HP Paper (After Coupon + EZ Rebate + Rewards)

The Kev Master did this yesterday and figured other SDers might like to do the same. He also noted while writing this that the online price for the paper $8.49 instead of $5.99 and the coupon is a B&M ONLY coupon so deal is a B&M ONLY deal.

Commentary said that his Staples had OLDER packs of 20 batteries with a special Duracell cutter. These also have the correct SKU and priced at $9.99/pack. A little older stock but expiration is 2017. So one can get an extra 4 batteries per pack plus the cutter. So keep an eye out for those.

This is after coupon, ez rebate and staples rewards.

He bought the following:
2 x Duracell (AAA or AA) 16-piece pack = $19.98
1 x HP 8.5x11 Paper (SKU:814186) [staples.com] = $5.99
Total: $25.97

Discounts:
Staples 5 off 25 Coupon [staples.com]: ($5.00)
At register, $20.97 + tax then,
Paper EZ Rebate: ($3.99)
Battery Rewards: ($16.15) coupon amount of $3.85 will be taken off the $20 total.
Paper Rewards: ($0.48) thanks to MathFaster
Total Discounts: ($25.62)

32 pieces of Duracell Battery + 1 ream HP Paper = $0.35 + tax.

POTENTIAL MONEY MAKER:
Akageorge said that Staples accepts manufacturer coupons, such as those in the 10/16 P&G insert for 75 cents/pack Duracell and the various peelies and in-pack coupons that have been floating around.

Screenname pointed out that in some markets the coupon is for $1 off instead of 75 cents.

wikipost 10-18-2011 03:08 PM

This post can and should be edited by users like you :)

Will Staples rewards will be reduced by the amount of any manufacturer coupon?
No as manufacturer coupons are applied post tax in 46 states and will not affect rewards. In the other four states, TX,CT, MA, and PA they are deducted from the retail price before tax. IDK how they affect rewards in those states because I don't live in one of them. They are applied as a special Staples coupon not as a Mfg. Coupon so as to come off the item price and not be taxed.

(Thanks to Mathfaster)

jdb230 10-18-2011 03:10 PM

forgot to put "After rewards" as you are still paying $25.97 + tax out front.

Longchamp 10-18-2011 03:11 PM

Are you seriously referring to yourself in the 3rd person?

The Kev Master would like to note that you're shelling out $20.97 not $25.97, which is almost what you're paying for the batteries alone, so with this deal you're getting a ream of paper as well, which could be useful for those that need some paper.

No, the batteries are $19.98 alone as you...I mean OP originally states

The Kev Master can't help if its buried in a thread with an unrelated title.

He did do his due research to avoid reposting and didn't find anything in the title that combined both deals.

He has updated the OP and credited mathfaster for bringing the 48 cents to his attention.

Now I've seen it all: a guy with such an inferiority complex that he adds the word master to his sn and speaks exclusively in the 3rd person.

I can only imagine how much your real life must suck to be pretending this hard to be relevant.

It's funny, you would think someone who pretends to be important enough to give themselves a name that ends with Master and uses the 3rd person would have taken the 2 seconds needed to search before reposting.

*(sorry for the 1st person folks, I can't bring myself to be a big enough self-important douche to refer to myself in the 3rd person).

The Kev Master thinks someone who doesn't share deals with SDers has no place to speak.

I dislike kevmaster's posting format quite a bit, but he is a valuable member to this forum. I mean, there's people who have been here since 2007 and received absolutely no reps, so he could always be worse off.

Someone with 10 reputation insulting and instigating a member with 3,455 reputation, that's hilarious. He can post in f'ing italian if it's great deals. Now stop embarrassing yourself.

Namelessme 10-18-2011 04:28 PM

Thanks Kevmaster for the deal, regardless of 3rd person posting.

I have a question for those who do Reward stuff a lot. If a gift card is used on a rewards (and rebate) items, such as this, will the rewards still be given?

I did the recent Staples Printer deal, but instead of getting $50 back for printer trade-in, they gave me a $50 staples coupon instead. I'm just not entirely sure what to do with it yet.

So could I: buy $50 GC with coupon, then turn around and do this deal posted here? In essence I'll simply be moving $20 or so from the GC to rewards, and getting the batteries + paper free then, with no money out of my pocket. I'm just not 100% certain rewards will be given with a GC purchase.

Alternatively I could just use my $50 coupon on the deal, but I'm even less certain they'd give rewards for that.

robinski_ 10-18-2011 05:02 PM

I tought about doing it earlier this week, but the most you get out of 5 off 25 is 5/25=20% and 6*0.8=4.8-4=0.8c for the ream, forgot to factor in the rewards though, so I didn't think any more of it.

good deal!

you might as well get the paper since you're barely paying anything for it + you reduce the money tied up in rewards

Robinski approves! :D

Gift cards are a form of payment. They do not affect rewards. You said you got a $50 coupon. Coupons do affect rewards. Wait until Thursday and see if there are any easy rebate deals next week where you can turn this coupon into cash.

you're getting it extremely cheap + reduce the money tied up in rewards by ~20%

that being said, I know what you're talking about, I don't know how many reams I have at home and need to get rid of somehow, or use up during the coming 100 years or so :D

So instead of paying $1.75 for tax when buying batteries for $20 (8.75%), I get HP paper for no additional cost because of the coupon, right?

The cost of (batteries + tax - rewards) seems pretty much equal to (batteries + paper + tax - coupon - SER - rewards)

The Kev Master knows that is somewhat correct as the total for the batteries only is $20 but with the paper and coupon as the paper costs $6, the total is $21 at the register.

The Kev Master types it in every time on every device except the Touchpad, which he programmed the keyword in, so he just types kev and it will automatically change it to The Kev Master.

Ream paper rebate is for in store only purchase as detailed in the ad. Batteriy 100% rewards are for in store purchase as well.

Commentary 10-19-2011 12:37 AM

My Staples have packs of 20 batteries with a special Duracell cutter. These also have the correct SKU and priced at $9.99/pack. A little older stock but expiration is 2017. So one can get an extra 4 batteries per pack plus the cutter.

How do you know if it is the correct sku? I saw some bonus packs way behind the newer 16 packs, but was afraid they wouldn't count because the UPC is different.

akageorge 10-19-2011 12:49 AM

And akageorge would like to remind everyone that Staples accepts manufacturer coupons, such as those in the 10/16 P&G insert for .75/pack Duracell and the various peelies and in-pack coupons that have been floating around.

I ask them to scan the items and give me the SKUs. The numbers were identical to the numbers in the ad you can get when walking into the store. I also asked them to scan the packs of 16 and they confirm it was the same SKUs.

But remember my bonus packs include the Duracell cutter. There was also other packs of 20 without the cutter. I did not check those.

Safe thing to do is to ask them to check the SKU before purchasing.

Does akageorge know if staples rewards will be reduced by the amount of any manufacturer coupon?

Mfg Qs are applied post tax in 46 states and will not affect rewards. In the other four states, TX, CT, MA, and PA they are deducted from the retail price before tax. IDK how they affect rewards in those states because I don't live in one of them. They are applied as a special Staples coupon not as a Mfg. coupon so as to come off the item price and not be taxed.

NYKnick knows using manu q is a form of payment, just like cash. Rewards won't be reduced. BTW, in some market the q is $1 off.

Only for 100% Rewards items. I purchased many items last month that were a fixed amount back with Rewards and coupons and got back the full amount.

Is it possible to use the 5 off 25 coupon twice although the fine print says one per household, I will use it for this deal and they will have my rewards# recorded then for the next use of this coupon they will have it recorded again, would I most likely loose my 100% cashback for using another copy of the 5$ off coupon? anyone ever tried this?

Yes. Rewards are different from Staples Easy Rebates where you need to submit the rebate. With Rewards all you obviously need to do to get the rewards is give them your rewards number when you purchase although you can add purchases online after the fact. Rewards no longer snail mails the rewards. You need to go into your account around the 3rd week of November and redeem them online or print off the rewards to use in-store.

Rewards are a discount off the price of the item.. If you pay the entire price with rewards the net is $0.00. There is nothing left to earn rewards on.

The Kev Master just saw next week's ad and this will continue to work.

He would like to point out that those that do the deal this week and by Saturday, can do the deal again next week as the battery offer goes by the week, so if SDers bought 2 packs this week, they'll be eligible to do 2 more packs next week like The Kev Master is going to do.

I doubt that their system will allow you to use the coupon a second time if you use your rewards number. On your second purchase, you could just not provide a rewards number to save $5.

YMMV but Staples coupons have a 2 day grace period. So, you MAY be able to do this deal with the coupon on Sunday and Monday. It is a matter if the store/cashier/manager will scan the coupon. Hence, YMMV.

There are two coupon codes for $5. Just use the one you have not used. Coupons found here: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=43852590&postcount=1

I don't really believe they have their system programmed for this. Most household coupons in the past have not been restricted no matter what they say on the coupon. These are five digit not unique 16 digit coupons.

Therefore you may only get $16 back. So you may be losing about $3.80 of that coupon by buying a rewards item.

Doesn't matter. Whatever you lose in rewards you gain by paying less OOP. It is a wash when the coupons used on a rewards item are small.

There is a chance that BrandNameChic doesn't have to print the coupon. I made my trip even I forgot to print out the coupon. During check-out I simply pulled out the coupon (of course, through slickdeals) on my iPhone and asked the guy to enter the coupon. The guy didn't even asked to see the coupon and give me 5 bucks off. Of course, this could be YMMV.

So I got my batteries and an useless pack of paper for cheap. Thanks OP and TU!

The camera was listed at $31.50 but after the coupon in the OP, he paid $26.50.

I purchased 2 sets of 16 batteries today and it rang up as sku 041333704647 I didn't see this Sku on the ad but they had a sign on the batteries w/100% rewards? Is this the correct sku? I surely didn't need these batteries but purchased them for the 100% rewards.

I also purchased a HP Pro 8500A premium printer for $21.11 and another one for 15.70 using the special $5 reward coupon.
HP Pro 8500A on clearance 99.00
Less $30 coupon in next weeks ad
less $50 recycle for old printer :)

does anybody know if you can take advantage of the easy rebates for the hp multi paper this week after reaching the limit of 2 per household last week? has anyone tried this? If so I can get the paper as low as 85 cents with the batteries and a 10$ off coupon, would love to stock enough to forget about computer paper for a long awhile...

a 10$ off coupon from ebay so technically should bump up cost of paper with coupon purchase, unfortunately there isnt any 5off coupon inserts this week at staples so had to find other means to make it sweeter

saveitman 10-25-2011 07:36 PM

just did it before closing got two of the hp photo 10$(2) - 9(2) ER-3.84CA-2R=3.84 MM
hp multi paper 6$(2)-4(2) ER - 2.32CA-1.2R=.48
AA coppertop 100%Rewards 10$(2)-20R-3.84CA=3.84 MM
Sales tax 8.875% here 3.72
Cost of 10$ coupon .85$
Total: $2.63 MM - hint(Money MAKER!)

all assuming they give full Rewards on the batteries without the factor of coupons.

coupon probably isn't legit, but for another free round of batteries and paper + photo paper this time around, definately was worth it.

saveitman 10-25-2011 07:39 PM

The Kev Master knows they won't give the full amount and saveitman can look on his receipt to see how much he'll be getting back for the batteries after the coupon.

He knows if that was the case, this deal would already be on the FP of SD.

He also knows that everything will be done online without having to mail anything.

saveitman 10-25-2011 10:34 PM

Nice, it really is an easy rebate I also remember reading you can get paypal for it as well. If they do factor in the coupons as well for the rewards on the paper then it looks to be1.82$ total for 6 items so for .30$ each it is a pretty good deal. Maybe new thread worthy hmm.
