Reviews on Newegg are not good. Wonder why? Quality control?

prozac4312 11-16-2011 10:43 AM

Is it safe to buy from MWave now?

maxdamage2122 11-16-2011 10:51 AM

Thinking about purchasing. I need a relatively cheap wireless N router. Don't really care about gigabit switch or 5ghz signal. I just want a well supported dd-wrt router. Should I wait for another one or jump on this?

That's why there is PayPal. No need to give anyone your credit card info (besides PayPal that is).

pradeepln 11-16-2011 11:13 AM

I agree, always when there is a deal from Mwave...people are raising concerns about Credit Card information.

I suggest using PAYPAL.........No worries.

catch22alex 11-16-2011 11:13 AM

mwave got my credit card info stolen. i know for a fact it was them.

avoid like the plague. sadly i have a premium membership with them too.

maxdamage2122 11-16-2011 11:17 AM

Less talk about mwave/PayPal and more about the router. Anyone have any info/experience with it?

Also, performance-wise, how is this compared with the Recertified Linksys E1000/E2000?

Why don't any of these routers have antennas? I use a high gain parabolic directional antenna, but none of these newer routers have antenna connectors.

Yeah, I miss those devices...It was a sad day when I finally let go my WRT54G (I had several versions) all with high gain antennas. That was a classic kick ass router. Nowadays one has to do some surgery on their board if they want to add external antennas. I hate that the test connections on these boards aren't the standard u.fl connectors but instead are the hirose connectors.

Only the hard core tech heads will get it done. I would like to do something special to my WNDR3700v1 but thats just too much work for me.

I keep holding out for a $10 dd-wrt wireless-n router. Perhaps black friday my wishes wiill come true.

TP-Link has some atheroes chipset N routers with antenna jacks. I believe they are the largest router producer in the world.

I have two of these routers and I really like them.
Using one as a router with printer attached to the usb and the other as a repeater with an external HD on the USB.
Using the stock firmware because reading thru the dd-wrt how to and setting up the USB seemed like a pain.
The stock firmware works great for me no drops, easy to set up, and the UI is just fine with me.
I bought one in Sept for $20 AR and another in Oct for $20 AR.
Obviously the price has gone up.
I have received one rebate, still waiting on the second.
Used PayPal.

Thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback. About how long did it take for you to receive your 1st rebate?

It seemed really quick for a rebate, maybe 4 weeks.
If it was $20 again, I would be tempted to get another one.

I used this router as AP for six months without any issue and then I sold it. I didn't use DD-WRT or ever installed on it. I always opt for rush rebate and it comes in two weeks.
